Whether Christmas Eve in your household is the calm before the storm or the storm before the calm, it can be a great day to just spend some quality time with family and/or friends. Christmas Eve is celebrated in a whole host of different ways, with traditions varying from going for a long walk, to having chinese takeaway for dinner, to even guessing what the presents around the tree are. With that being said McDonalds would love to hear what you and your household gets up to on Christmas Eve.

Here’s what McDonald's has to say: "“We know it’s a hectic time of year for families, so if it’s a quick coffee when you’re out shopping or popping in on Christmas Eve for some free Reindeer Treat carrots, we are here to help you get #ReindeerReady on your way to Christmas 2018!”

Is Christmas Eve a time where you stay in your Xmas pj’s all day and watch films? Perhaps you like to go to you the pub with friends and family? What about going for a winter walk around your local park? Are you still prepping the presents and dinner for Christmas day? Do you and your family host an annual Christmas Eve party? Or maybe you have a traditional Christmas Eve breakfast, lunch and dinner that you look forward to all year round?

Whatever you and your family gets up to on Christmas Eve share it on the thread below and everyone who does will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

play some games and have some party food.

I do lots of Christmas activities through the day with my children such as festive baking & art. Then I always do all the wrapping in the evening whilst listening to Christmas songs and a yummy take away :)

We always let the children open one present before they go to bed, they also leave out some goodies for Santa and his Reindeers

HannahLI · 11/12/2018 20:40

The last few years we have been to the cinema as a family on christmas eve as a treat, its a lovely way to bring in Christmas.

laurapotz · 11/12/2018 21:40

We don't have a particular Christmas Eve tradition, but I do give my daughter a Christmas Eve box. If the weather is nice we might go for a walk around the neighbourhood to see everyone's lights.

baconbap · 11/12/2018 22:30

wrap up presents

blue25 · 11/12/2018 23:09

Family dinner, Christmas film and Midnight Mass

fifimummy · 11/12/2018 23:10

Christmas tunes on repeat, being amazed that they actually want to be in bed about 4 hours earlier than usual!!! haha The day is usually a lazy one, with some hot chocolate & marshmallows after tea xxxx

molly57 · 12/12/2018 06:08

Always have roast gammon for dinner. Prepare as much food for Christmas day as possible to save time on the day.

piggypoo · 12/12/2018 06:39

As traditional in our family, we open a little gift each on Christmas Eve, it's something our Dad and Grandparents used to do, so we carry on with this. :)

Mariobug25 · 12/12/2018 08:21

We sit and and binge Christmas movies 😄 it’s a very relaxing day, we usually order a takeaway and just enjoy family time. It’s the calm before the storm. In the evening we do a treasure hunt with my sons Christmas Eve box too 😄

Woodruffshaz · 12/12/2018 08:42

our Christmas eve is pretty much always the same... first we nip out to pick up any last minute bits we need to grab, come home and have a really good tidying session, then we order a chinese takeaway. my sister pops over to exchange presents.. her kids and my kids play games etc whilst i do the veg peeling ready for next day..

then we make chocolate cornflake cakes ready for Santa. baths and hot chocolates before they go to bed... we buy them new pjs ready fro Xmas eve too.

then myself and Hubby wait until they are asleep before we sneak all the pressies under the tree ready for the morning. having to be careful of the top stair as it is super squeaky!! heehee xx

littlemonkeyz · 12/12/2018 12:39

We relax and watch a couple of family films in the day. We then go to the Christmas service at Church and then panic in the evening because we still have lots to do

maria08k · 12/12/2018 13:10

On Christmas Eve we cram ALOT in! We go for a long walk to tire out son out, we enjoy the local carol singers, we wait for Father Christmas to drop off a little Christmas Eve box full of new PJ's a DVD and hot chocolate! x

Twiglet1983 · 12/12/2018 13:42

I'm normally wrapping the last few presents with a glass of wine by my side. Might watch a film with the husband but then an earlyish night before the munchkin gets up!

lorrainej162 · 12/12/2018 14:15

Prepare for Christmas dinner, then a Christmas film and cocoa.

lottiegirl · 12/12/2018 15:03

usually have to work till 8 , then its last minute jobs and relaxing with pjs glass of wine and some nibbles hopefully all else has been done

tishist · 12/12/2018 17:17

We honour the Japanese tradition of a Xmas eve southern fried chicken banquet!

Leanfun · 12/12/2018 18:49

finish all the Christmas decorations.

UpOnDown · 12/12/2018 19:47

watch a film together!

andreaca · 12/12/2018 21:02

I get up, make sure the house is spick and span, then go and get my mam and pop to the shops for the price reductions on the cakes and bread. ( or anything else haha). I come home and we all get baths and new pj`s and settle in watching movies with a box of choccies, a selection box for the kids and some snacks and drinks, get the kids off to bed early, then wait a bit and santa normally comes to ours about 12 ish.

karen148 · 12/12/2018 21:55

We all go to my Mum & Dads to watch a film, then some of us go for a cheeky drink at the local - then home. Lovely !!

DiWoo · 12/12/2018 23:19

We are usually waiting for my DH to come home from work so that we can drive off to wherever we are going for Christmas. Then help sort out a few last minute things, then panic that can’t I find stuff

grannybiker · 12/12/2018 23:40

It all depends on who's hosting The Big Meal!
If it's me, I'll do a check that I haven't missed anything vital. Sometimes I'll cajole others into helping with vegetable preparation. This is done with bowls in front of some easy-viewing Christmas Eve film.
