I checked the cost of insurance for my daughter and I to spend 10 days in Barbados as we have booked a holiday there in October and, as I have various medical conditions, I am still trying to find a reasonable quote. Firstly, I ended up entering as a couple - we want to share a policy but as she is 19, we can't have a family policy. The total cost for this trip is £176.71 for the Admiral level and £265.08 for platinum level. This strikes me as very expensive for not a lot of cover. The Admiral level only covers £1000 for trip cancellation (the trip costs over £3000 in total) and £1000 personal belongings - I use a wheelchair and the cost of replacing it is £700, without taking into account things like mobile phones and cameras. Not particularly impressed.

I got £56.75 for a family of 4 to Tenerife in October - no medical conditions. I feel its a fair price, but would like to compare the price on a comparison site before I went ahead. I would love to be able to get some winter sun with the family.

Wouldn't give me a quote. Because I had depression more than 5 years ago. Thanks Admiral!

For what it's worth, my dream holiday would be with loads of friends with children the same age as mine, in a villa with pool in Italy. And catering/housekeeping staff. For a month.

Not too far to travel. Beach nearby, cosy cottage with wood burner and all food sorted, prepared and cooked.

I got, for a family of 4, to stay at Grand Canaria, half term next February, £60.25, which I thought was reasonable for the cover I needed. I need to compare with others, and think about going ahead with this.

£90.92 for a month in New Zealand. My pre-existing medical condition doesn't seem to count which is good (I could honestly tick no to all the boxes, and it's not something that should ever be an issue, but most places seem to want it declared)

I'd love to go to North Korea with Koryo Tours. Unfortunately North Korea isn't on your list of countries so you won't insure me for my dream trip Hmm

Changed it to Japan only to be turned down because I'm on a hospital waiting list for something very minor HmmConfused

Does Admiral cover travellers for Brexit related flight disruption? I've heard a lot of insurers are excluding it from cover.

Unable to provide a quote - family of 4 going to the USA. All in good health. DH had gall bladder removed last year, all went well with no issues so not sure why we haven’t got a quote? Not very impressive!

£36.22 for a yearly multi cover- to be honest, that is better than our current provider.
We travel a lot, but our dream trip would be on the slopes, with a nanny, in Les Arcs or somewhere we love.. pool and jacuzzi.. flights and private transfer. That would be amazing. Or surfing in the Maldives.. something sporty, basically.

Okay, so I also got a "Sorry, we are unable to provide a quote" due to pre-existing mental health conditions and tests for other conditions!!!

Dream holiday is North Devon/Cornwall with husband, son and dog. Clovelly, Duck Pool, The Milky Way, Bideford Bay... My happiest family holiday was at the Bideford Bay Haven Holiday park. I would love to recreate that happiness with my own family! Loading up the car and driving down for a nice 10 day holiday before school starts up again!

£11.48 for two weeks in Croatia. I'd be pretty happy with that. We already went to Croatia earlier in the summer, and had a fantastic time.

It won't let me get a quote without inputting my personal details, which I don't particularly want to share for no reason. Not quite what the OP describes!

Tried for 2 weeks in the Carribbean, won't quote due to ongoing medication despite being on medication which means I'm under control and therefore a lower risk than someone with the same condition who's not on meds

£266.74 for 2 adults to travel to USA. It's because I have a medical condition, but I only pay £90 for an annual worldwide policy through NatWest!

Admiral, you're expensive. Sorry.

Entered all of the details for a family of four to Florida, this would be our dream trip for 3 weeks with no medical conditions etc and ‘unable to provide quote’
Didn’t enjoy the interface and wouldn’t use due to user unfriendly

Unsurprisingly, I started telling them we have pre-existing medical conditions and computer said no. We need to use a company like Fish for insurance.
