Taking your children on a plane journey can lead to worries that they will be bored and miserable until you arrive. Qatar Airways have recently launched their new Oryx Kids Club programme, and want to hear your tips for keeping your children happy when you’re on a flight.

Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Ehab Amin, said: “Qatar Airways is delighted to announce the launch of Oryx Kids Club programme and loyalty programme for its youngest travellers, offering them the opportunity to enjoy exceptional benefits while travelling with Qatar Airways. As an airline that is committed to welcoming children and families on board, Qatar Airways is thrilled about this new opportunity to interact with our passengers, from the moment they arrive at the airport.”

Are you an expert in finding plane friendly toys? Maybe you have an ingenious and unique way of preventing boredom on long plane journeys? Do you use family friendly lounges? Perhaps you play I spy from the sky? Do you use films and games from in-flight entertainment systems or do you prefer to download favourites onto your own tablets to keep your children entertained?

Whatever you do to keep your children happy on flights, share this in the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

my son loves flying as he has unlimited screen time using a combination of inflight entertainment and a fully charged tablet. Also he loves all the food because of the little packets and because he's on an aeroplane - whats not to like (even going to the toilet is 'different'). also plenty of water and a few bags of sweets chosen in smiths beforehand.

This is a bit weird, but in addition to lots of tablet/comics/etc as per PPs, those transfer tattoos you can get have really worked well on my DD. They only need water to go on and she spends a good amount of time staring at her arm when there’s a “just waiting for x” lull. Time which otherwise would have been spent whinging.

Make sure that all electronics are fully charged and ensure that they have downloaded enough movies/YouTube videos for the flight. Make sure we have the neck pillow. Also bring snacks to avoid moans about buying from the trolley (even though this always happens!)

Mine love having individual screens and will happily watch hours of cartoons and films. On shorter flights, the ipad keeps them occupied

Stickers!!!! iPads of course but you can't underestimate a good sticker book!

Wrapping wee presents up (Poundland stuff) and giving at regular intervals also a good idea (I stole that from a mumsnet poster)

On long flights, my teenagers are happy to watch in-flight movies non-stop or listen to music! When they were little, they used to like colouring and activity books and reading.

I buy a bag of crap from The Works or similar (new pens, colouring books, activity sheets, stickers, books to read etc) and produce something new from the bag every hour. Works brilliantly to keen DC occupied.
