Keeping your washing machine in good condition is vital step to having fresh, clean clothes...who knew?! Fairy Non Bio would like you to share all your methods and tips on how you keep your washing machine clean and in tip-top shape.

Here’s what Fairy have to say: “With the amount of washing we all do, we need to keep our faithful machines in tip top condition to keep it running for the long haul. Whether it is running a powder wash or a hot cycle every now and again, we would love to know your tips!”

Perhaps you give everything in the machine a wipe down after every wash? Do you have a schedule for how often you do an empty load? Or maybe you have some home remedies that you turn to that you think work brilliantly?

Whatever your methods are, share them on the thread below and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck.

I always leave the door ajar between washes and occasionally give the seal a wipe round with a cloth.

I always leave the washing machine door and the powder door open between washes. I rinse the drawer under the tap every couple of weeks, removing any fabric conditioner residue. And I do a maintenance wash on 90 with just white vinegar every month or so. No problems so far!

We use a descaler regularly as we live in a really hard water area. I also check inside the drum after every wash for things that shouldn't be there like coins and plastic dinosaurs that have slipped through in pockets. We are also really careful with what we put in and try to not put in anything thats too caked in mud etc

My handy white vinegar spray inside the door and the seal keeps my machine residue free for optimal cleaning.

This is where someone comes along and tells me it should never be used in that way, but my machine is about eight years old and going strong so I'll stick with it.

Hot wash with vinegar every now and again. Always keep the door open. Take the draw out and wash it when it looks manky.
