Doing the laundry is one of those chores that can seem never ending; every time you think you’ve completed the load, the cycle begins all over again. Cue the laundry routine. With that in mind, Fairy Non Bio want to know what the laundry routine is in your household.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio have to say: “We know how laundry piles up, especially with little ones running around, spilling food and playing outside. At Fairy Non Bio, we design our products so that you can keep washing simple, easy and quick; making sure your clothes are beautifully clean and gentle on skin with our fabric conditioner designed to enhance their snuggly softness. We would love to know what you do to get your washing under control and give it that extra boost!”

Do you have a laundry bag/basket for each member of your family? Perhaps you do all the whites on one day and colours on another? Do you iron as and when or all at the same time? Or maybe you pride yourself on not having a set routine?

However you organise the laundry routine in your household, share it on the thread below and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck.

There's only 3 of us, so it doesn't get too bad.
I do 1 load a day (unless the load is too small to bother) and have a strict routine:
Mon - delicates
Tues - lights
Weds - darks
Thurs - towels
Fri - sheets
Sat - dark
Sun -lights
Iron every day (takes 10 mins) so it keeps under control.
I've just given DD (9) the job of sorting the washing, and once I'm confident she's got the hang of that I'll show her how to load the machine, what settings to use and how much powder etc.

HoneywithLemon · 27/01/2018 11:05

I have two laundry baskets. A family one, and DD2 has her own. We don't separate colours although the family laundry basket has two compartments.

I tend to do most of my washing at the weekend and usually get around four loads done, one white and three colours. I might do a wash or two on Monday as well as that's my day off.

I dry outside in summer and in the utility (with two airers and Sheila maid and dehumidifier. Ironing of school uniform happens on Sunday afternoon/evening and often on a Monday.

lhlee62 · 27/01/2018 11:36

I'm not sure as we just chuck everything in the laundry basket and it appears clean as my husband does it all! We don't iron if we can help it.

veegstez · 27/01/2018 11:42

I try and get it out of the way during the week, and then do the household cleaning on a Saturday or Sunday morning. We put wet washing on clothes airers in our large kitchen and put it away as soon as its dry. Hubby and I both do it.

jacqui5366 · 27/01/2018 14:09

I wash every 2 days, a white wash then a coloured wash. At the weekend I do the one bed, (duvet cover pillowcases and sheets). I try to keep to this to keep on top of things, and to have my airer full in winter and make full use of my washing line in the summer.

IonaAilidh11 · 27/01/2018 14:15

i do 2 loads a day, saves big build up

maisiesnan · 27/01/2018 14:29

I do the laundry every other day, keeping darks separate from the whites and lights. If I can dry it outside I will do failing that it's the tumble dryer. The ironing gets done when it's all dry, then put away.We have one laundry basket which is kept in the bathroom I don't see the need for more.

krnries · 27/01/2018 14:33

We don't split anything up, everything gets washed together, and dries on a heated airer. We put a wash on between every day and about three days. At the weekend hubby puts a load on to finish in the morning. During the week, it's a bit more ad hoc as to when it gets done.

cuppawithbiccies · 27/01/2018 14:44

there is a laundry basket in each bedroom. i tend to wash clothes every other day so collect from each room to wash - majority of clothes are dark colours so can go in together. Towels/t-towels/sheets/remaing light coloured clothes are washed on the days between rest of clothes and dependent on drying space - especially in winter when clothes can't dry outdoors

sm2012 · 27/01/2018 14:47

I don't seperate anything, it all goes in together. I do one or two loads of washing a week. Hate having to dry it inside in the winter as it takes soooo long! Never iron anything such a waste of time

MiddleClassProblem · 27/01/2018 15:02

Lights and darks basket, do it when I have a load. I’m not very structured...

MiserableMe1 · 27/01/2018 15:24

I always do laundry on a wednesday and on a srtaurday/sunday,
i do bedding once a week for me and every other week for my daughter, towels are only used twice then put in for was, i was pinks/reds together greys/ and white clothes together on a 30 and blues together. bedding and whites i do on a 60 wash i like to give them a good wash.

pinkjjf27 · 27/01/2018 15:53

The kids all have their own baskets but I tend to have to pick it up off the floor. I tend not to have a routine I wash when things need washing and like to keep on top of it. I don't like lots of dirty washing hanging around. Having said that uniforms are always washed Wednesdays and Fridays. Bed linen every Sunday. I am a very careful washer washing by colour or material type always use colour run sheets. I line dry when ever I can if not its dried on what my mum always called a clothes horse and put away as soon as it dries to keep the place look tidy. I dont like dryers.

Buxtonstill · 27/01/2018 16:45

I have a basket for every family member, and after the clothes have dried, everyone is responsible for folding/ironing their basket. With bedlinen, I fold the matching sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases and put them all in one pillow case, then its easier to find a set!

lulumajor · 27/01/2018 16:45

We have one laundry basket and have to do washing everyday!

AnimalAddict · 27/01/2018 17:07

Usually one wash a day, just goes by how full the basket is and what is needed :)

Nicole1709 · 27/01/2018 17:20

I always do the laundry on a Saturday morning and get it out of the way. If I can get all items washed and hung in the wardrobe by midday then its a success!

kittykomp · 27/01/2018 18:17

I do washing throughout the week

lolamia91 · 27/01/2018 18:56

There is no routine in out house! once the basket is full it's goes in the washer!

chris8888 · 27/01/2018 19:09

I wash every day, I can`t stand washing lying about.

mo3733 · 27/01/2018 19:25

friday is my day where i do all the laundry and ironing. i absolutely loathe the job.

CuteOrangeElephant · 27/01/2018 19:56

Whenever the laundry basket is full really!

Though I've started separating after DDs white baby clothes got greyish in the wash. If only my DH could remember!

sparky771177 · 27/01/2018 20:30

Every Friday one load goes on easy as that.

twinklenic · 27/01/2018 20:33

i do around 2 washes per day , so the washing pile is always on the go. I do whites probably 2 times a week. Dark colours and light colours usually daily

NoStraightEdges · 27/01/2018 20:36

Inoeganise my washing by constantly doing it. It's never ending. 7 people live in my house, one does a mucky out door job and the others have school uniforms and school kits. It's madness. So I just constantly think I must get a load in!

I wish I could afford dairy powder along the time though-it's definitely the best!
