Doing the laundry is one of those chores that can seem never ending; every time you think you’ve completed the load, the cycle begins all over again. Cue the laundry routine. With that in mind, Fairy Non Bio want to know what the laundry routine is in your household.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio have to say: “We know how laundry piles up, especially with little ones running around, spilling food and playing outside. At Fairy Non Bio, we design our products so that you can keep washing simple, easy and quick; making sure your clothes are beautifully clean and gentle on skin with our fabric conditioner designed to enhance their snuggly softness. We would love to know what you do to get your washing under control and give it that extra boost!”

Do you have a laundry bag/basket for each member of your family? Perhaps you do all the whites on one day and colours on another? Do you iron as and when or all at the same time? Or maybe you pride yourself on not having a set routine?

However you organise the laundry routine in your household, share it on the thread below and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck.

My husband tends to sort his own washing. I bung mine and the kids in the laundry basket and do a wash whenever it gets l-usually twice a week-sometimes 3. I'm not too fussed about sorting into coloured and whites-and we use the dryer a lot.

freefan · 26/01/2018 19:56

I have between 2-3 loads a day depending on school/nursery activities, PE days and the likes and always split into whites, colours and darks , but on a Saturday all the beds get changed so the wash count goes up but nothing nicer than the scent of fresh washing especially when it has been out on the washing line.

One laundry basket, loads sorted into colours and whites. I tend to catch up on washing at the weekend ready for the following week.

I don't iron. Ever.

sarah861421 · 26/01/2018 20:42

I do the laundry, whenever the basket is full. If its not in the basket, it doesnt get washed, every one has learned that lesson the hard way ( including myself)

socat · 26/01/2018 20:46

I wash as and when. One wicker laundry basket. Hate washing piling-up! I tend to have non-iron clothes else hang others for minimal ironing! I wash everything together @ 60 deg and fingers crossed!!

mamof3boys · 26/01/2018 20:51

I do all of my laundry in one hit over the weekend - washed, dried and ironed. It takes quite a while for a family of five.

LeeR1985 · 26/01/2018 21:03

I do mine every weekend, I work full time during the week and work odd hours so easier to do it at the weekend :)

Washing machine goes around at least once every day, but we don't sort colours or fabrics out, it all goes in the same wash!

Marg2k8 · 26/01/2018 21:18

Our washing machine usually goes on every day. Alternate light and dark washes.

kristianjsnooks · 26/01/2018 21:33

Two hampers - One White & One dark

When hamper full put on appropriate wash - When finished gets put on clothes airer to dry. The person who fills the hamper responsible for that wash - from start to finish.

barbsbarbs · 26/01/2018 21:37

everyone has their own different coloured basket and they put dirty washing in, it gets washed and ironed and it goes back in the same basket for them to take to their rooms.

user1496053440 · 26/01/2018 21:50

One laudry bag for everyone (and clothes only get washed that are put in the bag). Washing is done every other day

mkt13 · 26/01/2018 21:56

Monday wash day without fail... and extra clothes always on hand

Lisapaige24 · 26/01/2018 22:10

I start doing my laundry at 6am and finish my last load at 8pm when everyone is bathed and ready for bed so I can empty the basket ready for the next day to start all over again

IceBearRocks · 26/01/2018 22:50

In our house it is neverending ..... DS8 is in pads...we do get them from the NHS but they are awful and he leaks constantly ...you are only allowed 4 pads per day and he obviously can't go into any other nappy as he's 8!
Bedding daily, 2-3 sets of clothes per day.... Then DS10 and DD6 who needs fabulous outfit changes hourly!!!
My poor washing machine hates me!!! With allergy family Fairy non-bio pods and fabric conditioner are the only thing we can use without the itch!!!

Cailin7 · 26/01/2018 23:25

got one laundry basket which gets emptied and washed a few times a week. do not really have a routine other than doing a white wash on a saturday to ensure school shirts are washed and ironed before monday

maryclare · 27/01/2018 00:28

I do washing for me, DH and youngest DD (11). Usually done at weekends. Sort into whites, colours and dark. I iron during week any of this that needs doing. Then DD (11) puts her own clothes away.
Older DD and DS (late teens) do their own washing - from choice. Apparently it's not cool for mums to do kids washing past a certain age.

SillyMoomin · 27/01/2018 00:43

Whites only with whites. Only. I’m horribly strict about that!

Build up a load of blacks and navy’s, same with pastel colours and deep reds and oranges.

As soon as I’ve got more than half a load full, it goes into the machine. Do a load every other day (family of 4)

Towels get tumble dried, everything else is line or dryer horse dried.

Things that “have to be ironed” ie DH’s work shirt get ironed as soon as they’re dry. Things that need to be ironed but can wait get hung up until I decide to wear it and then frantically have to iron it Blush

rachelmi · 27/01/2018 08:12

I have laundry bags for each and dip in and out to make up certain washes eg. Black, whites or towels. I do a little every day and bedding when the sun and wind is likely

nickitayler · 27/01/2018 08:49

Routine? What routine? I'm usually in a mad panic on Sunday trying to get as many loads washed and dried as possible so the kids have school uniform to wear on Monday! Will certainly try to take on board some of the tips posted here.

vonniebab2 · 27/01/2018 09:18

Whites once a week on hot wash, colours every other day on low wash hopefully weather permitting I peg out if not its the clothes horse or the tumble dryer

Rigbyroo · 27/01/2018 09:19

Quick wash for uniform and socks/pants on weekdays. Weekend is towels and everything else. Bung it all in and hope for a sunny day. Have to dry on radiators so never get on top of myself. I do love trying new fabric softener!

Rigbyroo · 27/01/2018 09:20

I try and get it away as soon as it's dry but often end up with a huge pile on Sunday to put away!

happysouls · 27/01/2018 10:12

We have lots of clothes of the same kinds so that it can be washed with it's own type and no need to mix loads. It is really nice and easy! It also means we can go away camping for over 2 weeks without running out of clean clothes and having to wash stuff part way through!

emms88 · 27/01/2018 10:12

Laundry goes in the hamper upstairs or downstairs and gets washed on Wednesdays and Weekends. It's separated into different coloured loads before the wash, pockets are checked, T shirts turned inside out and zips fastened. Delicate and bras are washed in mesh bags.
