Doing the laundry is one of those chores that can seem never ending; every time you think you’ve completed the load, the cycle begins all over again. Cue the laundry routine. With that in mind, Fairy Non Bio want to know what the laundry routine is in your household.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio have to say: “We know how laundry piles up, especially with little ones running around, spilling food and playing outside. At Fairy Non Bio, we design our products so that you can keep washing simple, easy and quick; making sure your clothes are beautifully clean and gentle on skin with our fabric conditioner designed to enhance their snuggly softness. We would love to know what you do to get your washing under control and give it that extra boost!”

Do you have a laundry bag/basket for each member of your family? Perhaps you do all the whites on one day and colours on another? Do you iron as and when or all at the same time? Or maybe you pride yourself on not having a set routine?

However you organise the laundry routine in your household, share it on the thread below and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck.

I have no routine 😂I avoid it much as possible !

SuzfromSoton · 26/01/2018 10:03

No real system - just the one basket - wash in when it's filling up. Uniforms and work clothes always get washing at the weekend.

shellywkd · 26/01/2018 10:06

Everyone brings there washing down in the morning and puts it in the laundry basket. If it isn't in there it will not get washed.

hiddenmichelle · 26/01/2018 10:08

We do not have one for clothing - just when there is enough. Beds once a week (OK..maybe they are forgotten and its once a fortnight sometimes)

footdust · 26/01/2018 10:08

Washing machine at least once every day

Seperate into whites, lights and darks and wash whatever is biggest load.

Towels in a seperate wash as are sheets and duvet cover sets

We have one washing basket in our bedroom. Kids are expected to put their dirty clothes in the wash at bedtime/ in the morning.

I normally do a load of darks (40 deg.) each day (7 days). One or two loads Whites/ lights at the weekend.
Master bedroom bedding once per week (midweek), kids bedding once per week (2 separate washes on a Sunday). Towels will be put in with the bedding, or if there is too many, on their own wash. Towels and bedding on a 90deg wash.
Knitwear also get their own wool wash once per week (weekend).
Bath mats and tea towels go in their own wash (2 seperate washes per week, at the weekend) at 90 deg.
We don't have a tumble drier- though I'd love one for the towels and bedding which get hung over the landing bannister. The rest of the wet stuff goes over the clothes horse and on the radiator in the conservatory. Nearly dry stuff gets moved to upstairs radiators to make room on the clothes horse for next load of wet stuff.
I don't iron. My husband irons his shirts as he goes along (but doesn't wear a shirt daily).

I wash bedding and towels over the weekend giving plenty of time to hang outdoors if the weather is fine.

Everything else is done throughout the week and ironed regularly to avoid the dreaded humungous ironing pile!

katkatgu · 26/01/2018 10:28

no routine I'm afraid - it's almost every other day for us!

AngelwingsPetlamb · 26/01/2018 10:36

We have one laundry basket and as soon as I see there is a load in there I do a wash.
I do a wash nearly every day of the week, but we also hav3 a tumble drier which makes things easier to cope with.

southernsun · 26/01/2018 10:47

Keep on top of washing during the week, wash towels and bedding Saturday morning and then do all the ironing in one go Sunday afternoon while the Sunday roast is cooking.

LillianGish · 26/01/2018 10:57

We have one laundry basket for the household (four of us). I usually do a wash a day to keep on top of it - either coloureds or whites depending which pile is bigger. If there isn't much washing I do towels or bedding. I don't have a garden so I have to dry washing inside on a rack - I do as much as will fit on the rack. This is why I find it's best to do a bit everyday to keep on top of things. As much as possible gets smoothed, folded and put away straight away. Stuff that needs ironing goes in a basket which I tackle when there's something good on the radio. I find little and often means it never feels like a chore and there's a certain satisfaction to keeping on top of it.

mgmazz · 26/01/2018 11:02

We have a whites and colours bin and whenever they are full a wash goes on.

meepmoop79 · 26/01/2018 11:18

School uniforms/work clothes need to be washed by Saturday. Ironing takes place on either Saturday or Sunday.
Everything else is washed and ironed as required, with no defined schedule.

hmariez · 26/01/2018 11:19

The washing machine is on every other day 😖 a constant horrible cycle of putting it out to dry, ironing it and putting it away. Occasionally use the tumble dryer though

boobybirdsworth · 26/01/2018 11:45

We haven a laundry basket in the cupboard under the stairs, everyone puts their washing in it and it magically re-appears in their bedrooms when washed! It doesn't really obviuosly, I wash it and they put it away :D

cluckyhen · 26/01/2018 11:48

Daily I do my gym/swim kit and Fridays I do the family laundry

SSCRASE123 · 26/01/2018 11:53

Not really a routine but if the wash basket is full then a load goes on. There's a load most days due to kids sports and my/wifey's gym/training sessions.

Pmliu · 26/01/2018 11:55

Usually once or twice a week, on Thursday or Friday, I do the laundry, I sort the whites, colours and dark clothes out before washing the clothes

gd2011 · 26/01/2018 11:56

No routine. It gets done when it's needed or we have enough for a load.

Chocolatecake12 · 26/01/2018 11:57

I do the school uniform on a Friday night and iron it on Sunday night.
Usually bedding at the weekends too but I often get away without ironing it!!
Then another load or 2 at some point over the week and a big ironing session usually on a Monday on my day off of work.
I love the smell of fresh washing!

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 26/01/2018 12:18

Both daughters swim on Monday, so I do a quick wash of both kits that’s night, then older also swims Tuesday and younger Wednesday, so I do another quick wash on Wednesday night.
Household washing comes downstairs at the end of the week and is sorted into darks, brights, lights and whites, usually 3 to 5 washes in total, I will combine if necessary. Washed, tumbled, folded and piled into personal baskets which the individual takes upstairs to put away. Washing done at the weekend, if I’m ahead of myself it’s finished on a Saturday. Once I’ve done the clothes for the week then I wash towels, bedding and tea towels as necessary.
I don’t wash much other than swimming stuff through the week, but will do other loads if necessary, but it’s mainly weekends.

emmmaaa26 · 26/01/2018 12:21

I wait until I have a full load and then wash them.

andywedge · 26/01/2018 12:26

My wife does it, I mess it up

emmav6 · 26/01/2018 12:30

i have to wash as i go, a load a day as we don't have that many spare clothes to let the washing build up

6paces · 26/01/2018 12:30

When it needs doing I get the privilege to do it!
