Doing the laundry is one of those chores that can seem never ending; every time you think you’ve completed the load, the cycle begins all over again. Cue the laundry routine. With that in mind, Fairy Non Bio want to know what the laundry routine is in your household.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio have to say: “We know how laundry piles up, especially with little ones running around, spilling food and playing outside. At Fairy Non Bio, we design our products so that you can keep washing simple, easy and quick; making sure your clothes are beautifully clean and gentle on skin with our fabric conditioner designed to enhance their snuggly softness. We would love to know what you do to get your washing under control and give it that extra boost!”

Do you have a laundry bag/basket for each member of your family? Perhaps you do all the whites on one day and colours on another? Do you iron as and when or all at the same time? Or maybe you pride yourself on not having a set routine?

However you organise the laundry routine in your household, share it on the thread below and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck.

I have one laundry basket and do four washes a week - two "hot" washes for sheets, towels and whites on a Monday and Thursday and two "mixed" washes on Saturday and Wednesday x

WowOoo · 26/01/2018 06:15

I do a wash 5 days a week. Everything goes in the laundry basket and is sorted after.
Coloureds and whites. I'll also do washes with woolens and even trainers if the kids' trainers have become too muddy and stinky.

I tumble about half and tumble the rest. I'll try to hang things like towels and sheets that would take ages to dry. Ironing done on Sunday - just school and work shirts.

Spices001 · 26/01/2018 06:41

Wait until the laundry baskets bursting then do a flurry of washing until it’s empty

hdh747 · 26/01/2018 06:43

I always put a load in before bed, ready to peg out first thing in the morning. Then if there's another full load left I do that when I peg the first out. That usually keeps us up to date. Except when I decide to start washing duvets and curtains etc.

The kids put their laundry in the laundry basket and I sort and wash it. Sometimes I ask my girls to sort the whites and colours, whcih they do well, and they often help me to pair the clean socks together and put the clean laundry away.

Runningshorts · 26/01/2018 07:02

We have a basket in our bedroom and a basket on the landing outside the childrens rooms.
I try and do a load every night as that will keep on top of it but the reality is that I often don't bother on my working days (too exhausted in the evenings after sorting the young children out) and I have to play catch up.

We usually tumble dry in the winter but use the line to dry whenever possible to save money.

Narnianescape · 26/01/2018 07:04

I tend to empty the laundry basket when the lid will no longer close, sort into coloureds/whites/towels and pants, then wash it.

MrTumblesSpottyHag · 26/01/2018 07:20

One load per day, the kids put everything straight into the machine and I turn it on in the morning. Whites are done on a Saturday morning (just DD1's polo shirts and maybe a tshirt of DH's)
It doesn't really pile up in my house unless someone wets the bed or the time DD2 pooed in the living room and walked it through the house, up the stairs and into her bed...
Never ever ever iron anything.

glenka · 26/01/2018 07:33

We always do the washing at the weekend because we don't have time during the week.

Tiddlywinks63 · 26/01/2018 07:35

One laundry basket for everything which I sort into whites/colours etc. I probably do a load every three days of our stuff (2 of us) but I'm also doing my very frail parents' laundry too. They live 18 miles away and I visit every other day, bring all their washing home and return it washed and ironed. It's tiring but essential obviously- they can't manage bed changing and don't have a functioning washing machine or dryer either.

Annimousey · 26/01/2018 07:59

Chuck it in the wash and hope for the best!

lizd31 · 26/01/2018 08:02

I live alone so just one laundry basket. I usually do just one clothes wash a week unless it's summer when I wear whites as well in which case I do two. I do my bedding every other week. I tumble dry my towels as it makes them lovely & soft & fluffy but all my tops I take out of the washer immediately & hang them to dry so the creases fall out naturally. I put jeans, pyjamas, underwear on radiatorsto dry but in spring, summer & into autumn everything goes out on the washing line as I love the freshness.

devito92 · 26/01/2018 08:09

Once a week the washing machine/tumble dryer go into overdrive.I have a very big washer so its easier to wait until the weekend when i'm busy doing other things at home.

AR2012 · 26/01/2018 08:14

As and when the baskets are full the washing machine is put on for a load.

007hel · 26/01/2018 08:17

One laundry basket, sort, wash, dry, iron, fold, put away ... I do it all, when I’m on top of the washing I do 1-2 loads a day ... However this week I am not Hmm

Freddiesgirl · 26/01/2018 08:19

There are three of us in our household and I find myself doing two loads of washing in three days.
I have a basket in the bathroom, one in the babies room and any sweaty gym stuff goes straight in the machine!!
I tend to keep my eye on the baskets and do a wash when I can, I have a tumble dryer but try not to use it!
We also don't use fabric softener because we all have sensitive skin, and we don't change our powder often.

alabaster002 · 26/01/2018 08:24

No dogma about "washing day" - as and when!

topsy73 · 26/01/2018 08:46

We one laundry basket and when that gets full to brimming we then sort and start washing and drying...

amyhalliday1 · 26/01/2018 08:50

kids have baskets in their rooms (older teens) and have to bring down or else i wont do it! x

phillie1 · 26/01/2018 08:51

one basket for the 4 of us, and when it starts to overflow, then some washing goes on

janeyf1 · 26/01/2018 09:15

I take the easy way out and use Colour protect machine liquid so that I can mix in all types of colours together without fear of dye running. I do 2 machine washes a week and avoid ironing because I hate it

theno1dj · 26/01/2018 09:19

Its not really a routine, its just constant, empty bin wash, put in dryer, go back up empty bin again, repeat until funny.

compy99 · 26/01/2018 09:34

laundry done every Sunday and Monday and ironing done on Tuesday. whites, colours, bedding done separately. all delicates put in a net bag to protect. Tumble dryer used foe just a few items, rest either dried out on the line or indoors on airer.

03kelwil · 26/01/2018 09:35

All clothes get put into basket, emptied every morning, separated and washed. Sunday’s are bedding and towel wash day.

sheilads105 · 26/01/2018 09:35

Dirty washing in the laundry bag...I wash it. I won't go round the kids' rooms picking up stuff for washing. If it's not in the bag it doesn't get washed!
