Christmas can be a time to be with family, indulge in all your favourite foods, share gifts and have some well needed relaxation. However it can also be quite hectic, particularly within the kitchen all that food has to be stored and cooked somewhere! With that being said, AO want you to share how you get your kitchen ready for the Christmas period.

Here’s what AO have to say: “At AO we’ve got Christmas wrapped up, helping take the stress out of the festive season. We know that Christmas is more than the decorations and the presents, your home has to be ready too. Don’t risk a kitchen disaster when you're elbow deep in sprouts and cranberry sauce!

So deck your kitchen out with our fantastic deals. Think large capacity ovens and cookers for the BIGGEST turkey and all the trimmings, fridge freezers for stocking up on all those snacks and drinks and dishwashers to make that post-Christmas clean up a dream. You can even buy now and pay nothing for 12 months on selected appliances, so you can cook, toast and feast to your heart’s content.

When you shop with AO, you can rest assured we'll make it easy for you, with 1000s of appliances to choose from, delivered and installed in time for the big day. So you can concentrate on planning the best Christmas, ever!”

Do you decorate your kitchen to give it a Christmassy feel? Perhaps you have an ‘eat up everything in the fridge’ dinner to clear some space for the Christmas food? Maybe you buy extra kitchen utensils to ensure you’re not short of anything on the big day?

Whatever you do to get your kitchen prepared for Christmas, post it on the thread below and every MNer who posts will be entered into a prize draw, where one lucky winner will randomly selected to receive a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I give the kitchen a deep clean, and move all the summer stuff out for a weeks to make space for all the christmas gadgets. If the cupboards are a little more spacious then its easier for relatives to put things away, Also we use up all the weird stuff in the freezer to make move for all the new stuff

I like to have it all cleaned before the big day and I also prep some items the day before to make Christmas an enjoyable day.

The week before Christmas I ways give the kitchen a blitz cleaning wise. Oven and fridge get a clean and I defrost the freezer if I have time. We didn't used to decorate the kitchen until last year when my son went a bit mad wit h the decorations and I really liked it so I can see it becoming g a regular 'thing'.

We just give it a good deep clean and make sure there is room in the freezer for all the extras :)

As the seal has gone on my oven door and my freezer broke earlier in the year and I can't find one with the right dimensions for integrated I will be decorating my mum's kitchen with my presence whilst she does xmas dinner.

We have to run the freezer down. I host Christmas, and we have family who come to stay from all over, so I usually reckon at least 3 days of meals for at least 8 people, but to make it as stress free as possible I make tons of stuff ahead that just needs defrosting and finishing. From bundt cakes to parboiled potatoes, and ready to bake homemade mincepies, the freezer's always rammed to the gills. We're already running it down, and eating random things which don't really go together, just to empty it!

We all gather together at my parents for a huge family Christmas so the chaos would build up fast if we didn’t all take it in turns to stay on top of it.
It’s a kitchen diner so we always make a lot of effort to decorate the kitchen too - paper chains, holly and ivy, a nativity set, lots of candles plus a big roaring open fire

We fill our fridge with healthy snacks - carrot sticks, apples - alongside the treats, so we're not as tempted to overindulge! Boring, but makes us feel better about pigging out on loads of chocolate...

By making sure it's all clean and tidy. E.g. cleaning the oven, decluttering the work tops so that I have room to use them properly come Christmas and also defrost the freezer and make sure theres enough space in the fridge for the Christmas food.

We have an extra freezer that only gets used at Christmas and we begin stocking up weeks before hand. We don't decorate the kitchen because it's a mess and we need to refurbish it.

Clear out stuff in the freezer, to fill it up for more Christmas treats!

Report
RiSo · 19/10/2017 17:55

We don't decorate the kitchen or do anything special in there really, we actually don't buy that much extra food as the kids wouldn't eat it, all the extras are biscuits, chocolates etc which are in the front room. When the kids get older we will possibly get more food in but for now there is no point.

We have some really odd dinners to make room for the new stuff...nornally involves eating last year's gateau!

We run the contents of the fridge & freezer down ready to get in the festive treats and give the kitchen and good clean. We use the same Christmas tablecloth each year and like to treat ourselves to some nice Christmas crackers to decorate the table....it wouldn't feel like Christmas eating my turkey and sprouts without a paper hat on Grin

I give the kitchen a good clean, run down the food in the freezer then give it a defrost. The only decoration we have in the kitchen is a nice Christmas smelly candle, and the corner of the kitchen that houses the festive foodie goodies that I've bought.
