Are you one of the 56%* of parents who have never heard of water warts? Or are you able to spot the symptoms of water warts? Do you have experience of them in your own children?

In case you didn't know, water warts are a skin condition most common in childhood characterised by raised spots which can look like small pearls under the skin - this can last up to 18 months without treatment.

MolluTinc is a new treatment for water warts now available from pharmacies. It is the only product available in the UK to contain 10% potassium hydroxide and works by breaking down the water warts on the skin and allowing the body’s own immune system to tackle the virus that causes them. Applied twice daily for 2-10 days, it can help clear water warts within 1-5 weeks. It is suitable for those aged one year and upwards. For more information, visit mollutinc.co.uk/

Here’s what MolluTinc has to say: "whilst water warts only affects 5-11% of children aged 16 years and under, over 11% of children affected will experience a severe impact on quality-of-life as a result of the condition - we would love to know what you know about water warts, how you cope with them and your own tips on how to avoid them"

Please share your experiences with this condition. If you haven’t heard of water warts, we’d also love to hear from you about how you imagine them to be. All who share their tips for coping with water warts or their experiences of it on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 John Lewis voucher!

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw.

Never heard of water warts, makes me think of the blister type warts on a witch, I would have been upset to be told I had water warts as a child as I had an overactive imagination would have thought I was turning into a witch

TBH I wouldn't have minded something to shorten the duration of molluscum, but, apart from the fact that they lasted for so long, they really weren't a big deal.

But we were lucky. A friend's 11yo has them quite severely on their face and shoulder. A difficult age to cope with it. They might feel differently to me.

Are these the same as Molloscum? My friend's daughter had them and she said they were practically impossible to get rid of. I remember she tried a lot of treatments. I've never heard of them being called water warts though.

I've never heard of water warts. They don't sound too serious though!

Another one who'd never heard of water warts, sorry! We've been lucky not to catch it here but would probably try something like this if someone did.

You learn something new every day! Maybe I'm ignorant, maybe I'm lucky but I've never heard of Molluscum or water warts. And I thought that within my circle of friends, between us and the children we'd had everything going - bubonic plague wouldn't be a surprise!

Has molludab just changed its name to mollutinc? I've used molludab on my kids molloscom as and when needed for years now? Presume it's the same thing?

Never heard of them as my two have never had them...I could imagine if they did get them they would itch them like an insect bite which would probably be the wrong thing to do 😂

Me and both my children had these for about 2 years, they were very annoying so I'm glad there's a treatment available. We had to put up with itching and discomfort as there's nothing the doctors could do.

I'll be honest, I'd never heard of them before. But i've now looked them up, and I'm very grateful that as a family we've not yet had to deal with them. Fingers crossed for the future.

Never heard of them. One more thing to look out for! From reading this thread I'm imaging huge, oozy, pusfilled gobstoppers. But I'm optimistic I'm wrong!

I have heard of Molluscum and as far as I knew these were better left alone to go away on their own. Never heard of the term water warts before though.

Another person to add to the water warts what are you talking about...
Seriously though as is the case with most of these conditions I'd leave well enough alone.
If my child was particularly distressed by the condition we might opt to treat it.

I have heard of molloscum but not water warts. My children have never had them but I know others who have, I might try the treatment if it my children were self conscious about them.

Fgs call them by the correct name. Water warts is a stupid thing to call them and no wonder no one has heard of them as they will know them a molluscum contagiosum. Dd had them on her face and crook of her arm. Tried various things but they only went away when she went for an eye op and the surgeon asked if we wanted them removing too - said yes of course! Ds only had a few and they cleared up quickly

My first daughter had them when she was a baby My GP said it was an allergy to strawberries. it was only on an un-related visit to the hospital that another doctor diagnosed them . He said there was no treatment and they would go away on there own which they did but it took a long time and a lot of comments from my mother in law about dirty bed Linen and poor parenting.
