Are you one of the 56%* of parents who have never heard of water warts? Or are you able to spot the symptoms of water warts? Do you have experience of them in your own children?

In case you didn't know, water warts are a skin condition most common in childhood characterised by raised spots which can look like small pearls under the skin - this can last up to 18 months without treatment.

MolluTinc is a new treatment for water warts now available from pharmacies. It is the only product available in the UK to contain 10% potassium hydroxide and works by breaking down the water warts on the skin and allowing the body’s own immune system to tackle the virus that causes them. Applied twice daily for 2-10 days, it can help clear water warts within 1-5 weeks. It is suitable for those aged one year and upwards. For more information, visit mollutinc.co.uk/

Here’s what MolluTinc has to say: "whilst water warts only affects 5-11% of children aged 16 years and under, over 11% of children affected will experience a severe impact on quality-of-life as a result of the condition - we would love to know what you know about water warts, how you cope with them and your own tips on how to avoid them"

Please share your experiences with this condition. If you haven’t heard of water warts, we’d also love to hear from you about how you imagine them to be. All who share their tips for coping with water warts or their experiences of it on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 John Lewis voucher!

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw.

The night watch can hide, but not delete, iirc. So something has been posted out of @MNHQ working hours that is likely to be problematic, and MNHQ will look at it when they get back in the office. The night watch (volunteers who are often in mn overnight - usually because they live in a different time zone) have hidden it yo prevent more people seeing it.

If it was hidden by them is it not normally highlighted in blue?

Oh. I think hidden ones are just grey - this one is for me. I agree that it's what the Nigtwatch do.

It's probably just spam.

Oh my son got these when he was 5. Mostly on his tummy and arms and neck. Really icky when they bursted but did not seem to be itchy. Unfortunately my daughter then 3 caught them as well and she got them on her face as well. Beyond disgusting and I felt total powerless when there was no cure. Will never look at those nursery school pictures without thinking about the MC.
Would have paid anything to get rid off them! Lasted for a full 18 months as well, luckily no scarring and did not get passed on to us parents. To say they are best left alone is when you have not had them on your kid's face and everyone looking....only to freak out about the chance of you getting them on your own face as well.

Hello @Sarasabrownie and @HairNinja

MolluTinc have a response for you queries:

"Hi Sarasabrownie and HairNinja,

Thank you for your questions about MolluTinc.

The safety and efficacy of MolluTinc has been well tested. Several clinical studies have shown that a 10% potassium hydroxide solution is an effective treatment option for water warts (molluscum contagiosum) compared to other products such as a 5% potassium hydroxide solution. Studies also show that it’s safe to use in children aged 2 years and over.

The water warts/molluscum contagiosum virus lives within the skin and any treatment for it needs to get through the skin. MolluTinc works by breaking down the tough top layer of skin and releasing the virus from the cells so that the immune system can target it. It may cause a slight irritation to the skin, but this usually only lasts for a few minutes after application and can be a sign that the treatment is working.

MolluTinc is currently available from independent pharmacies and online at //www.chemistdirect.co.uk

Thanks again for your questions,
The MolluTinc Team
