How would you share your lottery winnings? Tell the National Lottery - £300 voucher to be won! NOW CLOSED

Let’s just spend a few moments dreaming about winning the lottery! How would you spend a big windfall? The National Lottery would love hear who you would share your winnings with if you scooped a life changing Lotto prize?

Here’s what The National Lottery have to say: “Amazingly there are over 4,600 National Lottery millionaires now in the UK winning £1 million or more. And what’s lovely to hear is that 95% of winners say they share their jackpot prize with family, charities and friends; with one third helping their children first.*

Real winner stories:

· Matt – I paid off Mums mortgage aged 28… it was the best feeling in the world
· Trish – I’ve set up investments so that years from now my son will be a millionaire just like me
· Natalie – before the win mum gave us so much help with the children, it was amazing to take her on a dream trip to New York to show her how much we love her and appreciated all her support.

That’s what they did, so now tell us: Who would win if you win? Who tops the list of those you would treat and why? "

…would it be giving your DH the ‘boys toy’ he has always wanted?

…or perhaps rewarding Mum & Dad for all their help and support over the years?

…how about an all-expenses paid girly holiday in the sun?

…or is there an individual or community project you’d love to support and help make their dream a reality?

…or how about you invest in a holiday house that everybody can enjoy for years to come?

Everyone who posts on this thread telling The National Lottery about who they would share their Lotto winnings and how will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck,

Share with my family and buy a bigger house and a brand new car

strikingstarlet · 05/07/2017 01:33

My mum and dad. They shared there yearly holiday with us (paid for babysat their 3 grandchildren) because they knew we couldn't afford this year, so would love to give them something back.

Ellamar · 05/07/2017 02:01

To win would be amazzzzing and i would buy a house with a lovely big garden. Then i would have the cash to have a tutor and speech therapist for my son. And of course a 2 week family holiday to Cuba ….just to get over the shock of winning.

I never even win three numbers, I can only dream of a big win. I often dream about my fantasy lottery win from the sublime to the ridiculous. For me, I'd buy a detached house with large gardens/grounds for my dogs and children to play in. I'd have all the usual, poo, gym, artist studio, hundreds of animals, maybe a sanctuary for pigs and cows for the hell of it. I'd give my parents and siblings houses and cars and holidays. Extended family could all have a holiday. I'd get my blind grandfather a chauffeur or a driverless car so he was mobile again.

I'd also set up a trust/scholarship to support autistic adults to go to college/ university to (re)train after late diagnosis. There is so little support for late diagnosed adults (post 25 when help dries up) and many of us find that post diagnosis we need to reasses our lives and careers. This would be a priority for me, especially with the problem of student funding and second degrees.

I'd also probably return to uni myself to collect more degrees in fine art, astronomy and a PhD in either archaeology or law or both.

Housing, housing, housing for family members in perilous tenancies.
A community centre.
Invest for my daughter's pension.
Retire early from the NHS and study art history.

kassza · 05/07/2017 06:17

After the usual, home/holiday/car/sharing with family I would set up a charity to help young people who are on their own, for whatever reason, and do not have family support. Part of the charity would be to buy run down properties and renovate as homes for them, but alongside it would offer real work and skills to young people.

MentalLoad · 05/07/2017 06:24

Pay off mortgage.

Give all my siblings a big lump sum so they can choose themselves what to do with it.

Look after my parents financially so they never need to worry about it again.

Redecorate my ils house for them.

Buy a new house with a garden which I've always wanted.

Get a cat. Have always wanted one but can't afford.

Give 10% to a elderly people's charity.

Then invest, invest, invest!

All very sensible and boring things I'm afraid but having spent some very hard years on the breadline, it's really made me look differently about money. Living in poverty sucks.

barbsbarbs · 05/07/2017 06:50

I would share with all my family and give to all those I know who have ever been kind and taking th time to know me. I would alao give some for a community project and last of all I would buy alarge hosue for my four teenagers, so we can all have lots of space

renas · 05/07/2017 06:55

I would share it with my best friend as we go halves on buying a lottery ticket every week. Sometimes I buy an extra one mid week but I would still, share with her as she helps me out a lot.

janeyf1 · 05/07/2017 07:15

I would share my winnings with my mother so that we can both improve our lives

WishUponAStar88 · 05/07/2017 07:17

I would pay of our mortgage and that of siblings. Put aside some for DCs when older. Book a big holiday for parents that have already paid off mortgage and don't need anything but would never treat themselves to a big holiday. Nice to dream, even the £300 would be amazing right now!

mave · 05/07/2017 07:22

I'd pay off my mortgage plus all my close family's mortgages. I'd then take my kids out of school for 6 months and take them travelling round the world!!

user1483229282 · 05/07/2017 07:24

My first priority would be to ensure my own financial stability. I would invest enough that I could live comfortably for the rest of my life. I would go out and buy any flashy cars or handbags but I have always wanted to own a boat.
I'd make sure all my family got a share too and I would love to make some significant donations to some charities that are close to my heart.

angelinlace · 05/07/2017 07:31

If I ever win a Lotto, firstly I would make sure that my families future is secure and then I would donate some money to animal rescue centre's as most of them are not fortunate enough to look after themselves and have a quality of life

KAKADU2001 · 05/07/2017 07:34

If it was a very large amount I would make a Hierarchy tables showing the people who I would look after first. For example it would be our four grown up offspring first, then our 7 grandchildren, then my two brothers and my wife's 4 brothers and sister. Finally friends. If we were lucky enough to win my wife and I would look at going to live in Australia where two of adult offspring and their families live.

libra101 · 05/07/2017 07:49

I would treat my husband and two children. A fabulously exotic holiday for us, somewhere to explore and discover new scenery. A modern, hi-tech bungalow would also be great, with lots of land for our dog to play.

I would set up funds for my children and grandchildren, to provide financial security and see them through university.

It would also be great to give some money to charities, preferably those which help children and the homeless.

All I need is to win!

maryandbuzz1 · 05/07/2017 07:51

I would spend a few days just smiling to myself before deciding what to do. My family and husbands family would all get a slice and then a few animal charities...especially the WWF. I would keep enough to be comfortable but I don't really see the point of having millions stashed away so when I came across someone who needed it I think they would benefit too.

AmIAWeed · 05/07/2017 07:54

My parents in law gave a significant amount of money to my husband and his sister to start their own businesses, however they have now left themselves short and constantly worry about money. I'd ensure they knew that for the rest of their lives they would have plenty of money as an ongoing income.
I would also pay off the mortgages of the two guys I work with, that way we can pick and choose our customers to make sure we only ever work with companies who are committed to making improvements to the lives of those with disabilities and not just 'box ticking'

devito92 · 05/07/2017 07:59

I would share some with family and close friends

vonniebab2 · 05/07/2017 08:02

The first thing I would do is put money in all of my families bank accounts go on a long cruise to decide how to spend our winnings where to live what type of house and of course give money to my favourite charities

IvorHughJarrs · 05/07/2017 08:05

I would give 10% to charity or good causes first as a way of thanks for my good luck regardless of how big or small the win is

If it is a huge win. Sort my DCs out with a property each and buy a small place in a city for DH and I to have weekends away near theatres, galleries, etc.

Make sure my Mum has the best of care needed
Make some nice little gifts to people I know who need things (even if only to make them happy

Thinking about this, the best thing is it would give me and my family the freedom to choose. We could choose where DH and I will live after retirement, where my mother will live when her health needs escalate, etc. Hopefully our gifts and good cause donations will give others choice and freedom too

finleypop · 05/07/2017 08:22

I had always dreamed of buying mum a bungalow but she passed away last year.

I would buy my sister a house, treat my Aunt & Uncle & make sure that our son had a secure future

SSCRASE123 · 05/07/2017 08:23

All depends on how big the win was. Priority would be to clear the mortgage and then I'd like to pay off our best friends for them. If it was a seriously big amount then I'd happily give up work and live off the interest and spend time with friends and family travelling the world.

AnimalAddict · 05/07/2017 08:25

I would definitely be sharing with my parents. They have done so much for me and my siblings, so I would love to absolutely spoil them.

I would buy a lovely new house for myself and splurge on a luxury holiday with all the family!

I'm a huge lover of animals so I would want to definitely do something to help as many animals in need as possible.

I would also want to make sure my siblings are taken care of financially so I would help them out in any way I could. :)
