Let’s just spend a few moments dreaming about winning the lottery! How would you spend a big windfall? The National Lottery would love hear who you would share your winnings with if you scooped a life changing Lotto prize?

Here’s what The National Lottery have to say: “Amazingly there are over 4,600 National Lottery millionaires now in the UK winning £1 million or more. And what’s lovely to hear is that 95% of winners say they share their jackpot prize with family, charities and friends; with one third helping their children first.*

Real winner stories:

· Matt – I paid off Mums mortgage aged 28… it was the best feeling in the world
· Trish – I’ve set up investments so that years from now my son will be a millionaire just like me
· Natalie – before the win mum gave us so much help with the children, it was amazing to take her on a dream trip to New York to show her how much we love her and appreciated all her support.

That’s what they did, so now tell us: Who would win if you win? Who tops the list of those you would treat and why? "

…would it be giving your DH the ‘boys toy’ he has always wanted?

…or perhaps rewarding Mum & Dad for all their help and support over the years?

…how about an all-expenses paid girly holiday in the sun?

…or is there an individual or community project you’d love to support and help make their dream a reality?

…or how about you invest in a holiday house that everybody can enjoy for years to come?

Everyone who posts on this thread telling The National Lottery about who they would share their Lotto winnings and how will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck,

I'd share with my sister who is full-time carer for our parents. She needs a new car as she's always running them to doctor's & hospital appointments & her car is 17 year's old & I'd treat her to a holiday for some respite

emmmaaa26 · 05/07/2017 08:31

I would share it with my mum, dad, sister, brother, best friend and a few close family members.

Carriecakes80 · 05/07/2017 08:52

This is how I get to sleep each night, dreaming of winning a large enough amount, so I could get husband out of his job, buy a huge RV, and go travelling with the kids for a few years! Us and the open road!

I think though the very first thing I would do is buy my Mum a home. She has been a working Nurse and Paramedic (and training for this) since the day she left school aged 15, she is now in her mid 60's, and still having to work as a Nurse plus two other jobs to keep the wolf from the door. I send her a few quid now and again, but what a dream it would be to make her feel safe and secure in her later years!

I would buy a nice house and pay off the mortgages of my parents and sister. I would put a decent amount by for each of my children for their future, as well as my Godchildren, invest some, give some to charity and then live my life exactly how I want.

ShowMeWhatYouGot · 05/07/2017 09:29

I'm a dreamer has has already spent my imaginary winnings.

My mother died when I was very little & my dad gave up everything to make me happy, I'd love the chance to give him anything I could to make him happy.

I'd do the normal, house upgrades nice holidays and treat my family.

But I would love to set up more groups/sessions/awareness for children who loose their parents as I got no help.

bubbleybooboo · 05/07/2017 09:45

If i won the lottery, firstly i would put half of it into savings for a later date.

Depending on how much i won i would buy myself and my parents a nice house and put so much into each of my childrens banks for when they are older.

Id also gift leeds neonatal ward a substantial amount in memory of my youngest little boy who spent 13 months there from birth. They helped him so much. He passed away in 2014 aged 3. We have already donated to them from fundraising but to be able to continue donating would be amazing.

I would also take us all on our first family holiday.

amsquared · 05/07/2017 09:50

I would share it equally with my wife and two adult children.

ThemisA · 05/07/2017 09:52

Oh this is a regular fantasy of mine, especially when feeling low.
I would buy a bigger house in an area I want to live for me, I would buy my children a house each to secure their future and help my niece and nephew. I also have two friends in a dreadful position through no fault of their own so I would sort them out too. Any left over would be invested and I would give regularly through an effective altruism movement such as 'Giving What we Can' or similar

moonray · 05/07/2017 09:53

I'd buy my BF Sharon a new car, as hers is gonna be scrapped soon and she cannot afford another. Sharon's been so good with me , she's always been there for me when I needed her.
I would also buy a house for our family, preferably in the country..and new furniture

hiddenmichelle · 05/07/2017 10:01

I would very sensible and put money away for the kids and possibly slurge on an large family holiday for my parents and sisters family and us

AR2012 · 05/07/2017 10:03

I'd give £1 million to each of my siblings. The rest into investments and a house for me and my family.

happysouls · 05/07/2017 10:04

If I won everyone would get what they need! And I'd hire my favourite local bar for a night and have a party for all my friends.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 05/07/2017 10:10

I would probably buy a house and put aside the money for bills for a year. Then after that it would be used to help and/or treat friends and family who have stuck by me over the years

footdust · 05/07/2017 10:13

It would be shared with my parents without a shadow of a doubt. They have put myself, my siblings and our children first for so long, I wish every day that I could repay them. I would buy them a lovely house and pay for a dream extended family holiday.

colleenw · 05/07/2017 10:16

I'd pay my mum and Dad's mortgage. Buy my sisters a house and more each. Put loads in a trust fund to set my girls up for life. Then finally buy a house for me and my husband, a nice car EACH! And take my whole family to disney world - my kids and nieces would be so excited!
I'd help all those friends that have been amazing to me. And some to the blue cross a few miles away.

Srathore · 05/07/2017 10:17

Omg this is like a dream come true for most people, and the number of times I have talked about this opportunity with family and friends, it's like living a fantasy. If I won I would definitely donate 10% to charities. If I won a big jackpot. I would buy my auntie a home, she is one in a million, she has lived a difficult life. It would mean the world to my Dad, who passed away suddenly last year. I would love to have done something special for him. He was always helping others. I would invest, and focus on getting my health benefits problems sorted, so I can live a little more of a normal life. I have always wanted to move abroad, my main medical benefits come from the sun. So I would definitely do everything within my power to be a mother to my children again and have a life with my family and friends. Once and if my health is sorted, I would live everyday like it's the last. I would want to get justice from the nhs for the medical negligence case for the admitted neglect. I would like to create a support group for people who are subjected to medical negligence and then discredited or discriminated for completely irrelevant life events, so that the nhs doesn't have to pay for their mistakes. I would definitely want to raise awareness about the way medical negligence cases are treated, especially when the case goes to court. I want to be happy. I want to invest in my children's education and future. I always wanted to be a successful business woman. I would definitely go on a very luxurious holiday filled with lots of fun activities for my boys. Happiness is all that really matters in life. If you have your health you have everything.

BagelGoesWalking · 05/07/2017 10:22

No living parents to help out unfortunately.

A good sum to my two children but not too much to sap motivation. Enough to buy house/flat and pay uni fees and have private health insurance.

Sums to smaller dog/cat rescues who do great work on very little.

Help friends to pay off mortgages, ex-neighbours who don't have very much. People who've always been willing to help us when we needed it.

Something/enough to my local library so it would never be threatened by closure (don't know quite how to do that one!)

Some for me to go on holidays - not 5* luxury but a couple of thou annually for a few years ahead.

gd2011 · 05/07/2017 10:22

If I won big, I would spread some around the family and give some to charity

Kannet · 05/07/2017 10:23

I would buy a house for every member of my family and book a huge holiday for everyone

MummyFever · 05/07/2017 10:28

Our dream is to buy a big field with a view and build our own home, so that's what I would do first.

I'd also do things like set up trusts and investments for all the children to help them out in adulthood.

We'd also go on a big family ski trip to the US and take my dad. I'd make sure my parents had everything they needed too.

BagelGoesWalking · 05/07/2017 10:29

Oh, and I'd set up a company which buys up empty and dilapidated properties, renovated them to a good standard and set up a rent to buy (the rent would pay the mortgage over time) scheme for lower income families.

I'd also experiment with setting up communities for older people, with on site hospital, nursing home, everything they could possibly want, similar to a beautiful scheme in my area called Whiteley Village.

Whiteley Village was founded on the bequest of William Whiteley (“the Universal Provider”) who founded Whiteley’s department store in Bayswater, London in 1863.

UnaPalomaBlanca · 05/07/2017 11:02

I have no parents so I would pay off my brother and sisters' mortgages and pay for my children and all my nieces and nephews to go through university.

I would set up a charity that paid for old people to have pet dogs- their costs such as dog walkers, vets fees, insurance etc would all be paid for- so those who felt they couldn't care for a dog alone, would still be able to benefit from the companionship.

For myself....I'd quite like to live near the coast and take my boys all over the world in the school holidays.

Back to the real world.... must go and hang out the washing.....

shellywkd · 05/07/2017 11:08

I would share it with my parents so they could retire comfortably. I would also take my daughter on a trip around America and set up a trust fund for her future.

madge47 · 05/07/2017 11:12

I would buy my grown up children a house each and help my son start his own film company. He's a talented film maker. My other son I would help him start his own gym as he's a gym instructor.I would love to buy myself a bigger house and a little tea room.I would also give money to friends, family and maybe a couple of random people xx

mamof3boys · 05/07/2017 11:24

Like many others I dream of winning the lottery, and play by direct debit so I don't miss a draw. I have a blissful minute a few times a week where I scroll through my emails hoping to see the 'News about your ticket' one.

If I was lucky enough to win I would either like to win enough to be able to pay off my parents mortgage as well as my own, allow my mother to retire without any financial worries, and be able to give enough to friends and family so that they could also have lots of fun spending with me. It would be very boring if only I had money and no-one else did.

If I wasn't lucky enough to win a jackpot amount, I would just like enough to live mortgage free, and have a bit more financial freedom.

I will keep checking my emails and living in hope..... Smile
