Let’s just spend a few moments dreaming about winning the lottery! How would you spend a big windfall? The National Lottery would love hear who you would share your winnings with if you scooped a life changing Lotto prize?

Here’s what The National Lottery have to say: “Amazingly there are over 4,600 National Lottery millionaires now in the UK winning £1 million or more. And what’s lovely to hear is that 95% of winners say they share their jackpot prize with family, charities and friends; with one third helping their children first.*

Real winner stories:

· Matt – I paid off Mums mortgage aged 28… it was the best feeling in the world
· Trish – I’ve set up investments so that years from now my son will be a millionaire just like me
· Natalie – before the win mum gave us so much help with the children, it was amazing to take her on a dream trip to New York to show her how much we love her and appreciated all her support.

That’s what they did, so now tell us: Who would win if you win? Who tops the list of those you would treat and why? "

…would it be giving your DH the ‘boys toy’ he has always wanted?

…or perhaps rewarding Mum & Dad for all their help and support over the years?

…how about an all-expenses paid girly holiday in the sun?

…or is there an individual or community project you’d love to support and help make their dream a reality?

…or how about you invest in a holiday house that everybody can enjoy for years to come?

Everyone who posts on this thread telling The National Lottery about who they would share their Lotto winnings and how will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck,

I would treat my mum by paying off her mortgage and a few smaller things like a nice meal etc. She deserves it.

windowmouse · 15/07/2017 09:43

I would share with my immediate family, close friends and charities that are important to me. I would hope to invest it well enough to be able to keep helping them.

MAT12 · 15/07/2017 10:10

Who doesnt dream about this, i would buy a house for my parents and siblings pay off the mortgage, get a decent car and take all the family to disneyland. Then i would like to own a afternoon tea place but would employee people with disabilities and all profit made use to help arrange respite care for families who have a disabled or autism child or a person who is a carer and may just need a day to themselves but cant without someone to sit with the person they care for. so much could be achieved and given back to society with a lottery win.

kay071 · 15/07/2017 10:48

I would first share it with my parents. They gave me everything a child needed growing up so it's only fair I did something generous in return. I would also buy my older brother a house as he is about to leave the military.

allibaby · 15/07/2017 11:43

I would share with all my family and make sure they had no debts and no money worries.
I would also ( a lot of people scoff at me when I tell them this) would open a donkey sanctuary and bring donkeys in from all over the world.
This is because my previous job involved lots of travelling and no matter where I went I saw donkeys working too hard and looking very sad.

jrobbs · 15/07/2017 11:54

My nearest and dearest would be my first consideration. After bestowing them with some of my wealth, I would gift those who have been generous to me in the past with their time and kindness - its called Karma !

Deeceeha · 15/07/2017 15:50

Boring I know but I'd spend some and save some, pay off family and friends' mortgages etc then treat us all to a wonderful holiday in the sun sigh

toniuk · 15/07/2017 16:30

have a big party buy my house help out my family

JBH316 · 15/07/2017 17:03

I'd make sure all family members had their mortgages paid off and I would pay for a carer for my gran who has just been diagnosed with dementia. I would buy myself a detached house in a semi-rural area with plenty of land. I would give up work (yay!) and would foster for an animal charity. I love going to concerts and comedy shows but no longer drive so I would hire my own driver to ferry me about...that would be about as pretentious as I would get!

nokkie · 15/07/2017 17:53

Well we can all dream! I'd buy the piece of land my daughter rents for her 3 horses so she could stop worrying where the next blade of grass is coming from!

jacqroberts68 · 15/07/2017 18:04

firstly I would set up a trust fund for my kids, buy my 2 eldest their own places, then while my house is being built I'd go on a round the world cruise. I would treat my best friend and pay off her mortgage.

BabySocksNeverStayOn · 15/07/2017 19:04

After mortgage is cleared and savings accounts topped up. I'm sure close family would benefit in some way too Smile I'd start by taking our boys on at least one long haul holiday (at least 3/4 weeks) every summer holiday to really learn/live/experience other countries. I'd take them around our country too at half term/Easter/Christmas to experience the best the UK offers. Whilst I think education is great, life experience is soo important and is something we cannot afford to do. The children would benefit the most. It would be amazing to be able to pay upfront for a University education (if they want to). Oh and I'd buy myself a nice pair of jeans!

Blondie1982 · 15/07/2017 19:16

Definitely share it with my family, by my first house, new car and a holiday home would be nice

Malina11 · 15/07/2017 20:06

I would buy a house and give a big amount to my parents for their loan, house repair and just to have enough money for living.
I would also give money to my sister.
If I still have something left, I would invest and also open savings accounts for my children's education.

Cat1980uk · 15/07/2017 20:22

I am pregnant with my miracle baby, a little boy due Halloween. If I won I would put some into a trust for him so he didn't have to struggle later in life. I'd make sure he had everything he needed growing up without being spoilt and teaching him the value of money as we come from a family with very little but lots of love. I'd buy my sister a house for her and her 9 day old daughter and I'd buy my Mum a house next to me so she's always close and I'd donate a tonne to charity too

PhilTB54 · 15/07/2017 20:49

I'd buy houses for family and provid to do what they want.e enough cash

GeorgeW78 · 15/07/2017 23:29

I'd share with my partner, we'd buy a house!

blueberry549 · 16/07/2017 00:19

I think if I won a million it would be split in many directions!

I'd definitely want to use some to put down a deposit on a house. We're still renting, as even with regular saving it's virtally impossible to get enough capital together for a deposit these days! That would be wonderful for my husband, my daughter and I.

I'd also put some away for my daughter's future - she's only 8 weeks old but she might want to go to university one day and that's expensive!

I'd also give some to my mum and dad for a once in a lifetime round the world holiday. My dad is terminally ill and desperate to make the most of his time left with my mum. I would LOVE to be able to afford to give them something like this.

My husband and I never managed to go on a proper honeymoon, so I'd love to do that too. We were originally planning to go to Hawaii, but had to change our plans partly due to funds and also because my parents got sick, so I'd love to be able to take my husband there after all.

Plus there's the usual give some to church and charity. Particularly those charities who have helped people I know. And of course some spending sprees for new clothes and furniture lol!

But lastly, this week was filled with sad news when a friend lost her little boy, aged 7. So if I won a large amount on the lottery, I'd also love to give them something so they could do something amazing with/for their little girl. I know it won't bring their son back but I would love to help take some pressure off them and help them in any way I can.

julessussex · 16/07/2017 07:21

I would want to help those people who had been kind to me in my life and friends that I know are struggling right now.

My mum is a millionaire, we are really struggling for money. She doesn't even buy my children birthday or Christmas presents. I have suffered years of emotional abuse from her - she is a deeply disturbed human being and despite her (inherited) wealth she is extremely unhappy.

We struggle on one income because I am a full time mum for our 2 young kids but you know what? I am happy and surrounded by friends and people I care about so much everyday and my kids make me laugh so much.

Obviously I would love to be more comfortable financially and not have to worry so much about money and that would be enough for me.

life is short. Too short to waste envying others or wasting time with fruitless dreaming, we are all rich already in many ways - look around you at all the people who surround you with love and companionship... nothing else matters. When I look at my mum I see a bitter, angry old lady who is miserable to the core despite excessive wealth.

DaisyDando · 16/07/2017 07:25

I would pay the university fees for friends and family and their children if I won a huge amount.
I would also pay off mortgages of my family and close friends.
Then I'd buy a massive great big swimming pool and live in it forever.

Itsnothingoriginal · 16/07/2017 07:49

I'd probably get another cat.

IrritableBitchSyndrome · 16/07/2017 11:06

Fun thinking about this! I would pay off our mortgage, my sister's mortgage, buy homes for my two oldest dc and set aside an equal amount in trust for the youngest. That would probably cost a cool million! If I won millions... I would be wroting big cheques to some great local charities, and finding out if it is possible to subsidise local council/hospital so that we could have decent pavements, better mental health provision, more funding for schools... maybe find a way to set up bursaries for nurses and teachers... I suppose I would have to find a way to invest the capital to spend the interest on investing in local charities and services to keep it sustainable, as it would get burned through pretty fast otherwise. Essentially, I would be in the fortunate position of being able to spend my time thinking about how to achieve as much social good as I could, without having to worry about paying the bills! Maybe I could stick it all in some sort of fund to pay for socially beneficial research to solve environmental and social problems. End climate change, wars, world hunger, cancer, dementia, obesity and the common cold ;) It's good to dream, right? :)

IrritableBitchSyndrome · 16/07/2017 11:09

*writing, not wroting!

Also I'd like to fund research into new antibiotics.

FlaviaAlbia · 16/07/2017 12:17

I'd pay off the mortgage and help my family.

I'd also love to be able to help people anonymously when you can see that a bit of money would make such a difference to good people.

VilootShesCute · 16/07/2017 14:48

I've lost count of the number of times dh and I have discussed this Grin I would give majority of a lottery win to Chestnut Tree House where my dd passed away. Nothing I can do could repay them, they are all angels sent from heaven, but money would help run the place.
