Let’s just spend a few moments dreaming about winning the lottery! How would you spend a big windfall? The National Lottery would love hear who you would share your winnings with if you scooped a life changing Lotto prize?

Here’s what The National Lottery have to say: “Amazingly there are over 4,600 National Lottery millionaires now in the UK winning £1 million or more. And what’s lovely to hear is that 95% of winners say they share their jackpot prize with family, charities and friends; with one third helping their children first.*

Real winner stories:

· Matt – I paid off Mums mortgage aged 28… it was the best feeling in the world
· Trish – I’ve set up investments so that years from now my son will be a millionaire just like me
· Natalie – before the win mum gave us so much help with the children, it was amazing to take her on a dream trip to New York to show her how much we love her and appreciated all her support.

That’s what they did, so now tell us: Who would win if you win? Who tops the list of those you would treat and why? "

…would it be giving your DH the ‘boys toy’ he has always wanted?

…or perhaps rewarding Mum & Dad for all their help and support over the years?

…how about an all-expenses paid girly holiday in the sun?

…or is there an individual or community project you’d love to support and help make their dream a reality?

…or how about you invest in a holiday house that everybody can enjoy for years to come?

Everyone who posts on this thread telling The National Lottery about who they would share their Lotto winnings and how will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck,

I would give all my friends and family a cash gift. My Husband had a Severe Brain Injury 6 years ago and everyone rallied round me then. I'd love to be able to repay them a little. Hubby still can't work though, so the winnings would change our lives forever!

MummyBtothree · 14/07/2017 17:53

I would buy our house that we currently rent. I would put a lump sum in the bank for our three boys & book a fantastic holiday to Australia Smile

Definitely buy a house.
And furnish it beautifully

Help family members pay off their mortgages if they wanted us too.if not gift them a few thousand quid 💷

Buy my parents a house in the uk so when they visit they can have their own place to stay in instead of going to family members or hotels.

Go on holiday

Buy husband a car

Go shopping !!

And share some around a few charities. That's a must with a big win! Buy some toys for hospitals/ hospices etc.

Put rest away

And make sure there's a nice amount on my children's savings 😃
What a lovely dream

HopefulHamster · 14/07/2017 19:25

I'd be boring and buy a lovely family home - ours is small and definitely not a forever home. We won't be able to afford anywhere else without some sort of lump sum.

I'd like to know that I'd be able to help out my parents too as they get older.

honeyandginger48 · 14/07/2017 19:26

I often day dream about this...

If it's a big jackpot it would be houses for family and lump sums for friends to help with mortgages etc. If it was a smaller amount it would be cash for family and friends and perhaps a holiday home in Cornwall or Wales which others could visit.

Must remember to buy a ticket tomorrow......

zebedee01 · 14/07/2017 20:02

If I won the lotto I would be sharing it with close family members for sure, but I would also make sure we bought a nice home for our little family because since we lost our business and our home 11 years ago we are in a small council flat and have no way of affording to buy a house of our own again (what feels like will be forever!).

ClashCityRocker · 14/07/2017 20:27

I would ensure my family are adequately housed then Jack in my job and write full time.

I'd also complete my lifelong dream of visiting every racecourse in the UK.

Compermo · 14/07/2017 20:32

The extent of this would depend quite a lot on the size of the win. If it was very large, I'd make sure close family were all debt and mortgage free, and with money in the bank. I'd love to donate to the two local hospitals, each of which have given us good care over the years, and we all know about the situation with the NHS. So it would be wonderful to be able to give something back.

Lasplin84 · 14/07/2017 21:39

I would share my winnings with my mum and dad they have done so much me, they would deserve it

EmmaBuffaloWing · 14/07/2017 21:53

I have thought about this a lot!
The first thing I would do is buy a nice big house. Big enough to house my husband, myself, daughter and step sons (3 of them). Then I would give up my full time job (teacher) I would still teach (for free) but it would be on my own terms and after I've had the longest holiday ever. I would buy a new car for me and my hubby and then invest the money into something. I would concentrate my efforts on doing charity work as well as looking after my massive house!

AugustRose · 14/07/2017 22:16

It depends how much you win of course but we'd mainly share with parents and siblings, paying off mortgages or buying a house for those renting (if they wanted on of course). And buying reliable (electric of course!) cars as we all have older ones.

Paying off DS1's student debt and taking the children travelling for several months to all the places we'd love to go but can't afford.

There are a few friends who struggle so we would help them too. There are so many charities we would like to support but in particular our Mountain Rescue and Air Ambulance, who I see out every day saving people's lives.

If there's anything left then perhaps a small treat or two for myself Grin

baconbap · 14/07/2017 22:33

I'd take my husband on a holiday to Australia

clopper · 14/07/2017 23:01

I would help my family and friends first to be financially secure and also ensure that my older DC had a house. Then I'd buy a top of the range campervan for me and DH and fix the house guttering! I would try and support local charities.

Gill81uk · 14/07/2017 23:14

I would give a lump sum to my parents, in laws, sister, brother in law and best mate, for them to use however they wanted, no strings attached. I would also pay off our mortgage and do all the work we've been wanting done in the house. I would treat the kids to some lovely trips, no expenses spared. I think that's more important than toys.

bc1616 · 15/07/2017 00:09

I would make sure my family had everything they needed then we'd all go on a cruise and make memories

Dan35 · 15/07/2017 01:15

All of my family!

The Red Cross, WaterAid and my DGC. The DGC would all get a small amount initially and some put away until they are older.

Winelover93 · 15/07/2017 01:31

Send my brother to rehab for his drug addiction.
Buy my mum a motor home
Myself a brand new car that doesn't always break down.

sashh · 15/07/2017 06:58

I've said this before on another thread.

I'd like to set up a community kitchen/cooking/cafe place.

It would be linked with a food bank and allow people to use a cooker if they don't have money for fuel (food from home or food bank) or if their kitchen is being repaired / refitted..

There would be classes to learn how to cook but geared to various people. My mum had terminal cancer and the hospice ran cooking classes for men of a certain age who had possibly not cooked much.

Other classes for learning to cook Indian, Caribbean, Chinese, think of a type of cooking.

Also nutrition classes so that people can learn to cook healthy food.

Would provide lunch for children in school holidays.

Have an ESOL class for migrants/refugees where you learn to cook with food available in UK and learn English at the same time. Apparently some refugees struggle to shop for healthy food in UK supermarkets eg there is a belief that orange squash is as good for you as OJ.

It would keep me busy and help people out.

Pimmpom · 15/07/2017 07:33

After I have treated my parents and sisters, I would love to all go on a family holiday. Something that we would always remember.

cathryn1 · 15/07/2017 07:36

pay off all debt then buy a new car, a caravan and a home

maursieq · 15/07/2017 08:35

Would help out people to get decent housing with deposits for flats etc % loans. I know how hard it is to get a start with this . And build an ice rink.

molly57 · 15/07/2017 08:52

I live in a bad neighbourhood with people intent on causing harm and chaos at all hours of the day and night. There are one or two good neighbours whom I would share my winnings with. I would also give money to every one of my work colleagues at my level.
