Let’s just spend a few moments dreaming about winning the lottery! How would you spend a big windfall? The National Lottery would love hear who you would share your winnings with if you scooped a life changing Lotto prize?

Here’s what The National Lottery have to say: “Amazingly there are over 4,600 National Lottery millionaires now in the UK winning £1 million or more. And what’s lovely to hear is that 95% of winners say they share their jackpot prize with family, charities and friends; with one third helping their children first.*

Real winner stories:

· Matt – I paid off Mums mortgage aged 28… it was the best feeling in the world
· Trish – I’ve set up investments so that years from now my son will be a millionaire just like me
· Natalie – before the win mum gave us so much help with the children, it was amazing to take her on a dream trip to New York to show her how much we love her and appreciated all her support.

That’s what they did, so now tell us: Who would win if you win? Who tops the list of those you would treat and why? "

…would it be giving your DH the ‘boys toy’ he has always wanted?

…or perhaps rewarding Mum & Dad for all their help and support over the years?

…how about an all-expenses paid girly holiday in the sun?

…or is there an individual or community project you’d love to support and help make their dream a reality?

…or how about you invest in a holiday house that everybody can enjoy for years to come?

Everyone who posts on this thread telling The National Lottery about who they would share their Lotto winnings and how will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck,

My dream!
I would buy a lovely house for me and my dd in a nice part of town and maybe a holiday cottage too if it was a big win. A caravan and new car to tow it or campervan would be a lovely addition for weekends away. A holiday abroad for the 2 of us would also be on the cards as I've never taken dd abroad. I would give up my job and spend my time with dd and our dogs.
I would make sure my dd had money in a trust fund for her future.
There are a few friends I'd like to give some money to and some to family (because I'd feel I had to). I'd like to support my dd's school with a donation and I'd give money to a few charities.
I can but dream!

Who hasn't thought about this this? I read in the news recently that someone had won 87 million pounds. My husband replied that it was far too much for one person but I disagreed. Every time I have worked hard to reach my goals I have had setbacks, big ones. At thirty six I am returning to college and learning to drive and no amount of winnings could make me change those plans. If I won that amount of money I would do what most people do; house, car, holiday but I would still want a small house and a little car because that's who I am and what I like. There are many small charities in my area who don't have the time or money for lavish fundraising campaigns, so they miss out. There is a local sanctuary where a woman cares for around 300 rescue animals almost single handed but she was soon quick to help me when I found an injured bird. She won't get a dame hood for her charity work, just a bad back but with a lottery win I could help. She could employ staff to help. Then she could take some time off for a well-earned break. She is just one of many. Yes 87 million pounds would be wasted on me but I could make it go far.

I would pay off all debts and then go on a world-wide cruise and see everything that this blue ball has to offer.

SecondaryQuandary · 11/07/2017 06:57

Pay the mortgage off, finish off all the interior and exterior jobs with tradespeople instead of DH doing them all
Buy a new centrally located luxury bungalow for ageing mother and pay off sisters mortgage
Set up uni trust funds for DC
Luxury holidays - 3 per year
Replace all bedding, mattresses, cutlery, crockery ( the extravagance!)
Set up village fund
Donate to local school to inc sports facilities and training, music funding

Shiraznowplease · 11/07/2017 07:59

First pay off mortgage, then tell my boss to whistle!
Boy toy car for the dh, pony for dd and a games den for ds
Big donation to local hospital who were awesome with dd and I would track down midwife who saved dd life and pay for an awesome holiday, we gave her champagne, flowers and chocolates but always felt we owed her so much more
Trust funds for my nieces, world cruise for my parents and in laws.
Would enjoy friends and family

Missmac84 · 11/07/2017 08:37

First I'd pay off my mums mortgage. She's done so much for all of us that she deserves something back.

Then after paying off our mortgage I think I'd buy a massive house with 10 bedrooms so that our family have somewhere we can all meet up at whenever we wanted (a family holiday home!) Then on the weekends we're not using it I'd rent it out to others.

Obviously I'd put money away for our children and then take my husband to New York as he's been desperate to go there for the past 16 years that we've been together!!

angiehoggett · 11/07/2017 08:51

I would use the money to pay off our mortgage and also pay off my brothers mortgage. I'd also give some to my parents and enjoy the rest with my partner living comfortably and being to do the things we've always wanted to do!

oliveoyl72 · 11/07/2017 09:53

I'd add a recording studio & practice room to my new (obviously) house, for my partner and his friends to meet up and jam. It would be both big, and soundproof ;)

allotmentgirl82 · 11/07/2017 11:28

If I won, I would build a house with an annex for my son as he is severely disabled and will be unable to live alone when he becomes an adult, however i'd like him to live an independent life, with us at the press of a button is he needs any help.
I'd ensure the house is on a plot of land with a woodland area to enable me to set up a Forest School for the use of local children.

1wokeuplikethis · 11/07/2017 12:12

I love daydreaming about this very thought...
would pay mortgage off, give a decent amount to each family member, be able to set our young children up for life, have a wonderful family holiday and trade in our car which is on its last legs!

vaseandcandle · 11/07/2017 13:15

Firstly, an extravagant family holiday for our extended family.

Then, depending on how much I won, pay off my mortgage and that of my sister and mum and invest for my children and nieces and nephews.

Then.....for me and DH I don't know. Perhaps back to education for me or take the time to learn what I really love.

Drivemecrazy1974 · 11/07/2017 16:14

We've always wanted to live by the sea, so our first purchase would be to buy a small house in Brean or Devon. We're also big campers, so it'd be nice to be able to buy a motorhome - one where we actually had a shower and toilet in - that's the only downside to camping having to use the facilities! One final thing is that I've always said it would be so nice to be able to donate to local causes anonymously when we hear about them. Would be nice to help other people out without them feeling the need to say thank you :)

MaximilianNero · 11/07/2017 16:59

I'd love a nice 3 bed house with a little garden I can let loose on and turn into a mini paradise. I could learn to ride, and buy my horse mad sister a horse of her own. Give all my siblings money towards their first house deposit and first car.

I would give to charities which support survivors of slavery and sex trafficking, charities which support mental health, and various other individual charities I love. I would love to do something to support good mental health and help for medical staff and students.

And lastly I'd buy lots of books! I can almost smell them haha!

Flanderspigeonmurderer · 11/07/2017 17:46

I would build my parents their dream home anywhere they wanted.
I would fly all our relatives from abroad over, rent a big country house for us and have a party.

WineAndTiramisu · 11/07/2017 18:33

Actually be able to finish the house renovations we're half way through
Take parents on a wonderful holiday to thank them for all their help
If I won enough, I'd like to help friends, maybe pay off their mortgages
Work part time, or not at all!

Fumnudge · 11/07/2017 18:41

We'd all up sticks (parents, sis, bro and their families) and buy a commune style plot.
Each house would be enough distance apart that there's no noise issues (good, bad or otherwise Wink) but with a central meeting building.
Kids can play together, adults meet and eat and chat, swimming pool is obligatory obviously (and wine fridge)!

mo3733 · 11/07/2017 18:46

i would share it with my family and the first thing i would buy is a massively extravagent family holiday with our own private villa

OldBooks · 11/07/2017 19:06

Apart from the standard stuff, paying off mortgages, investing for the DC, helping family etc, I would like to be a patron of the arts - commission new works of art, music, architecture etc and nurture young talent

Jessiecat27 · 11/07/2017 19:18

I'd like to buy my mum a house somewhere nice, she was around my age when she had me and has always rented. I know she'd love a big garden! I'd buy me and my partner a home as we're due with baby number 1 in November so I'd like to feel a bit more stable. I'd set up an account for the little one for when they're older. Lastly I'd buy my two cats the fanciest scratch post I could afford, I love to spoil everyone but myself so I wouldn't be interested in spending any of it on myself!

Haffdonga · 11/07/2017 19:28

First off - an amazing family holiday to all the places I've never been but would love to go with dh and dcs.
Next a beautiful home in dh's country so we could visit and stay whenever we wanted without imposing on family there.
Investments for the dc's (pay off student loans and deposits for houses).
And some money to Women's Aid/Refuge.

lollylou2876 · 11/07/2017 19:42

I'd pay off their mortgages and invest in my not for profit group, Rochdale Survivors' Association, and launch it into a national charity, to support Sexual Offence and Child Sexual Exploitation victims /survivors.

purplepandas · 11/07/2017 19:48

Pay off our mortgage and also that of my parents. I would love to pay for them to go on their dream holiday and also help my sister and her OH who are struggling. Definitely a lovely holiday for us but I am pretty risk averse so would want to save some. Would also donate to charities close to my heart.

yorkie18 · 11/07/2017 20:10

I'd pay off the mortgage and also that of my parents, my brother & my inlaws first of all. Then treat us all to one big family holiday.

Then buy a bigger house and give up work. I'd like to spend time helping out volunteering instead of slaving away!

rocketriffs · 11/07/2017 20:47

After buying a house, I would invest for my children's future. A share would go to my brother and his family and I would donate some to community projects I have taken part in that are struggling to find funding.

sbruin1122 · 11/07/2017 22:46

take a mega holiday :)
