Let’s just spend a few moments dreaming about winning the lottery! How would you spend a big windfall? The National Lottery would love hear who you would share your winnings with if you scooped a life changing Lotto prize?

Here’s what The National Lottery have to say: “Amazingly there are over 4,600 National Lottery millionaires now in the UK winning £1 million or more. And what’s lovely to hear is that 95% of winners say they share their jackpot prize with family, charities and friends; with one third helping their children first.*

Real winner stories:

· Matt – I paid off Mums mortgage aged 28… it was the best feeling in the world
· Trish – I’ve set up investments so that years from now my son will be a millionaire just like me
· Natalie – before the win mum gave us so much help with the children, it was amazing to take her on a dream trip to New York to show her how much we love her and appreciated all her support.

That’s what they did, so now tell us: Who would win if you win? Who tops the list of those you would treat and why? "

…would it be giving your DH the ‘boys toy’ he has always wanted?

…or perhaps rewarding Mum & Dad for all their help and support over the years?

…how about an all-expenses paid girly holiday in the sun?

…or is there an individual or community project you’d love to support and help make their dream a reality?

…or how about you invest in a holiday house that everybody can enjoy for years to come?

Everyone who posts on this thread telling The National Lottery about who they would share their Lotto winnings and how will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck,

I'd buy my parents and myself a nice, mortgage free property each. Then pay off friends' & close family mortgages, and stick money in an account for the education of said friends/family's kids.

Tumilnaughts · 10/07/2017 08:05

I'd pay off my mortgage and buy a 6 bed Victorian somewhere. Which I would totally renovate.
I would then buy 3 round the world flights for my dh, dd and myself. I would hire a private tutor for my dd so she could continue her education while we travelled the world.
I would set up trusts for her an any future children.
I would donate to my local food bank and shelter.

Setup trust fund for kids future
Donate to WaterAid and Oxfam
Set some aside for retirement
Go on a much needed holiday 1st class
Buy a car
Buy a summer cottage
Buy jetski
Buy designer handbags
Buy a rolex
Take up a hobby
Consider starting a business

I would give money to my DC to help with house deposits, then I would help the two village organisations who are trying to raise funds for new premises as both gave a lot of pleasure to my children. Finally I would like to have a holiday - not very fancy but where I wouldn't have to do the cooking!

whenthetimecomes · 10/07/2017 10:46

I'd buy my husband the car he needs to get to work everyday as his old one is knackered.
I'd get my child the gaming laptop he's been trying to save up for, for 2 years already.
I'd help some of the refugees who I help to take some driving lessons and pay for their UK driving tests so that they are better equipped to find jobs in this country and be able to work again, because their morale is very low not being able to support their families independently over here.

hann24 · 10/07/2017 10:58

I'm currently in the renting trap, so the first thing I would do is buy myself a house. I would then also make sure I give some money to my parents so that they can have a more comfortable retirement. Any money left over would be saved to make sure I'm ok in the future.

sarahbrokenshire · 10/07/2017 11:31

I would share with my mum and dad and buy us all a house, car and holiday each x

Portabella24 · 10/07/2017 12:02

Who hasn't fantasised about this one?

I would want to set my children and close family up for life like most other people.

Also, book a luxury holiday and make sure we can all turn left on the plane.

I am stuck in a terrible job with a horrible boss. I have daydreamed about paying my friends at work enough money so we can all walk out. I'd love to tell my manager to get lost!

Calphurnia · 10/07/2017 13:08

Buy the derelict house near me & do it up. Then have my sister relocate & live with me & DC & ant friends who'd like to join us.

Part of the house would be for teenagers who need intensive fostering & making sure they all have the support they need.

Cash for other sister

Trusts for DC

Ensure the survival of small charities in areas I'm interested in

BeeMyBaby · 10/07/2017 13:34

I would buy a home for myself and extra properties which I would then get DH to renovate and then live off the earnings until we died happy and very very old as we would have been work free Grin

mandy4164 · 10/07/2017 14:58

if i won the lottery i would pay of my children mortgage, and i would also go on a long awaited holiday has not been able to afford one in the last 15 years, d also make sure grandkids were ok , and give some to my son's disability football team , as they need much needed funds x

Janussi · 10/07/2017 15:33

First thing would be to buy a house in London as we lost our home in the recession and are now renting. Second give son money to buy a home of his choice. Thirdly a holiday home abroad. Our parents passed on. We would help family but not tell them about our win as it would cause squabbling. I would give to favourite charities and help random people struggling. A few far flung trips would be booked.

Punkatheart · 10/07/2017 15:33

For me, animals would have to be involved. I would like a smallholding and most importantly, someone to help me plant all my vegetables. I would rescue a few cows, just so they could potter around the fields, a couple of pigs and lots of chickens. All could live their lives in peace. A simple life but how joyful.

misty101 · 10/07/2017 15:57

Assuming a huge win- the dreams are endless! Buying a house where we actually have a garden, helping friends with their mortgages, investing money for our little one for starters, then going on holiday to Asia and not coming back for at least 6 months!

olbndansmummy · 10/07/2017 16:24

After making sure family were comfortable for the rest of their lives i'd buy an island for us to live on with lots of rescue animals.
obvs after a round the world luxury trip!

puch · 10/07/2017 16:43

Pay off mortgage (also pay separated husband half the house so I can be financially free
Set up a pension
Trust funds for the three children to enable them to buy houses when time comes
Set up uni fund for older son
Money in a fund for me so I am secure in old age
Money to all my sisters and mum
Send my mum to Ireland for a month with money for taxis everywhere
Give money to charity
Give money to local school so they can make a nice playground for the kids.
Buy my second son a private hearing aid that he can wear in his ear so when he does sports his current NHS hearing aids goes off due to consendsation so he can stop worrying everytime he gets sweaty
Find out if any thing can get help his hearing improve.
Go on Holiday !!

YourHandInMyHand · 10/07/2017 17:41

Me and DP often discuss this! We'd both love to help our mums and siblings in terms of buying them all a house outright to give them security. The mums would also get a pension pot. Our nieces and nephews would get money put in trust for them too. We'd definitely want to help our family. Smile

I'd also like to buy a seafront house that we could all use as a holiday home base for seaside days out / weekends

On a more silly note I'd love to buy my DS a giant Mario inflatable bouncy castle. He's has special needs and is obsessed with Mario and it's one of those wildly extravagant things you'd only buy if you were a millionaire! He'd love it. Grin

Minnibix · 10/07/2017 18:02

My son, he is a university at the moment so money is a bit tight, I would love to pay of his student debt for him.

AloeAloe · 10/07/2017 19:29

If I won the lottery I would go and find DimplesToadfoot and tell her that a total stranger thought her life was very worth living. We would do something to ease the problems of as many young people leaving care as we could. We would plan safe accommodation, training schemes, buddy helpers. Then I would encourage her to find love and build a new family because she would be an amazing mum. People are the most important thing in life. As long as you have enough, you could get so much more yourself by giving back.

calicoskies2016 · 10/07/2017 19:32

I would pay off our mortgage and loan we have. Then I would take our family on holiday somewhere nice. My husband and I have always wanted to take a road trip along Route 66 in the US, so we would take our son along to see the sights and experience the specialness of his heritage.

donnatella110 · 10/07/2017 20:02

Whon hasn't sat and dreamed about this. Apart from the usual family and friends, I would want to give a large amount to my DS' school. They have changed his life for the better and have been so supportive to us all through his autism diagnosis and other health issues. I'd also like to pay for a personal treat for the teachers...maybe a bit of pampering Smile. Well I can dream!

pennwood · 10/07/2017 20:34

If I won the lottery I would get independent financial advise to benefit all my family in the best way. Then with the left over finance I would set about enjoying it.

badgermum · 10/07/2017 20:42

If we won really big we would pay off our close family and friends mortgages for them and of course have few fabulous holidays if we won one million then we would pay of our mortgage and take the same family and friends on the holiday of a lifetime to Florida

EggysMom · 10/07/2017 20:56

We have an autistic son. He's probably never going to live independently. Our winnings would go on ensuring a good standard of life, and a good standard of care, for the 70+ years that he'll be alive. Whatever is left at the end of his life, can go to research into Autism.

Lovewatchingrainfall · 10/07/2017 21:25

I keep thinking about this. So my original answer further up still stands if I won loads.

But to be honest even a small win of £10 would mean a huge difference to me and my family at the moment. So I think what ever I won no matter the size I would make sure my family was fed and looked after.
