Let’s just spend a few moments dreaming about winning the lottery! How would you spend a big windfall? The National Lottery would love hear who you would share your winnings with if you scooped a life changing Lotto prize?

Here’s what The National Lottery have to say: “Amazingly there are over 4,600 National Lottery millionaires now in the UK winning £1 million or more. And what’s lovely to hear is that 95% of winners say they share their jackpot prize with family, charities and friends; with one third helping their children first.*

Real winner stories:

· Matt – I paid off Mums mortgage aged 28… it was the best feeling in the world
· Trish – I’ve set up investments so that years from now my son will be a millionaire just like me
· Natalie – before the win mum gave us so much help with the children, it was amazing to take her on a dream trip to New York to show her how much we love her and appreciated all her support.

That’s what they did, so now tell us: Who would win if you win? Who tops the list of those you would treat and why? "

…would it be giving your DH the ‘boys toy’ he has always wanted?

…or perhaps rewarding Mum & Dad for all their help and support over the years?

…how about an all-expenses paid girly holiday in the sun?

…or is there an individual or community project you’d love to support and help make their dream a reality?

…or how about you invest in a holiday house that everybody can enjoy for years to come?

Everyone who posts on this thread telling The National Lottery about who they would share their Lotto winnings and how will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck,

Depending on how much I have won would depend on who I help and how much.....

I would say that I have been given the opportunity to paint a commission piece for a big national company and that they have given me a signing bonus to get started with research etc so nobody knows that I have won a large amount of money......

I would secretly buy a home that my elderly parents could move into with us so they wouldn't have to struggle in theirs anymore but tell everyone that we are renting it .....

Then I would help my four daughters and two sons and two grand children by setting up a trust for them so that they have a regular payment every month but not a huge lump sum to waste......

I have a few close friends who like me struggle financially so I would set up a trust for them too.

Then I would give a lump sum to our local food bank ,homeless shelter and domestic abuse centre because I know that all of the money would be used to help the most neediest of my City.......

That is pretty much my plan in a nut shell Smile

There's the obvious paying the mortgage off, buying a new car, booking holidays, putting enough away for University etc, depending on the amount I would also do the same for family

I would give up my paid work and volunteer, I'm a learning disability nurse and have experience with benefits etc ( which is a minefield for people with LD) so would want to help people however I could

flamingtoaster · 05/07/2017 16:41

If it was a really big win I would buy a property each for DS and DD to secure their future living arrangements. I have a couple of friends who are struggling and I would like to help them. I'd either move or upgrade a lot of our current house - we get on so well with all the neighbours I think I would be reluctant to move! I'd get DH a brand new car so he didn't have to worry about breakdowns.

lolly2010 · 05/07/2017 16:44

I would pay off my mortgage, buy a nice house for my parents and mother and father in law and then book a holiday of a lifetime to Disneyland Florida with the kids.

Byrdie · 05/07/2017 16:56

After all the boring things like pay off the mortgage and set up trust funds for our kids and their cousins, I think we'd invite all our friends and family to an all expenses paid trip somewhere wonderful like hawaii for a big celebration and have it coincide with my 40th! I would also buy my husband a trip to cycle the alps as he was meant to go last weekend and couldn't and was really gutted as he was really looking forward to it. Oh - and invite all my friends to go to Glastonbury in a huge plush mobile home!

Beautymama · 05/07/2017 17:25

The first thing I would do is help my disabled daughter get the best private treatment along with the best prosthesis limbs that my winnings could buy!

I would made sure my other 3 children have the best education money could buy with trust funds for there futures.

I would help my mum & dad get there house finished and clear all there bills.
I would help my 5 sibling with money to help them be more comfortable and help my nieces & nephew have the chance of a better future.

thesockgap · 05/07/2017 17:26

My 3 sons first and foremost, I would put money away for each of them to help them through university and on to the property ladder.

I have 2 siblings and my DH has 10 so we would give a share to each of those. In an ideal world I'd win like £80million on the Euros so would give them a million pound each, but even if I "only" won one million I'd still give them a chunk.

Lastly I'd treat my two best friends - maybe take them on a shopping spree or pay for a holiday for them.

israrbaig · 05/07/2017 17:48

i would buy a new TV and gaming console

israrbaig · 05/07/2017 17:52

as no one is helping me win in my family, their can work as stated by them and their kids

Marshett · 05/07/2017 17:57

I would buy something all my friends and family could use and enjoy, such as a holiday property or spa. I wouldn't want to give people money as dividing up could get messy and "rank" people; also I don't think my friends and family would accept money from me.
Something we could all enjoy would be nice for everyone.

SongforSal · 05/07/2017 18:01

My Mum would get the house of her dreams. A big cottage overlooking a beach in Cornwall.

I would buy my 12yr old Ds a working farm to run when he is older (he is very dyslexic and struggles immensely with academia. All he wants is a farm).

Dp would get an old, rundown castle, somewhere like Scotland. He has always randomly dreamed of 'doing one up'.

I'd pay for my 91 year old Nan to meet Peter Andre. She fangirls him.

My DD17 would be given free Uni education and the deeds to a modest house.

If there was any left........I'd treat myself to some new bloody bras!

Marg2k8 · 05/07/2017 18:35

I don't actually do the lottery, but at work we always joke that if one of us won big, we would give the others enough to enable us all to leave

spottypjs · 05/07/2017 18:38

I would give some to my mum and my aunty then some to my friends too!

CheeseAtFourpence · 05/07/2017 18:44

I'd buy my mum and dad a new car. They've never had a "new" one. I'd pay off my sisters mortgage and set up a trust fund for my nephews and my DD. I'd pay off our mortgage.

And if I had enough.....my dream would be a house in Wales with a swimming pool (and if it was mega bucks a pool for DDog too!!)

Lisapaige24 · 05/07/2017 18:50

This is something I have spent a long time thinking about what I would do if I won the Lottery and this is the conclusion I have come to invest it in : properties
Businesses
Classic Cars

Obviously I would give to my Children, parents, sister, nieces and nephews to make sure they were set up for life.

shroney · 05/07/2017 19:02

firstly I'd pay off our mortgage then I would distribute amounts to all my friends and relatives. I would give up work but do some volunteering and give a lump sum to various charities. Then I would pay for some of my closest friends to go on a mega luxurious no expenses paid holiday and put money in a trust fund for my kids when they are older.

freefan · 05/07/2017 19:07

I would buy a lovely family home and make sure each of my children had financial security and if there was any left over I would bring our Dutch friends over for a wonderful holiday.

MrsAlwaysRight · 05/07/2017 19:18

I'd pay off our mortgage and what's left of my parent's mortgage. I'd give my brother a deposit to help get on the property ladder as he is currently not in a position to do so.

I'd love to take the kids to Disney and pay for my Mum to visit her family in Australia.

If I had anything left I'd invest in a property for my children's future as I can't see how they will afford a property without assistance.

ivytable · 05/07/2017 19:30

Travel the world with my family!

firawla · 05/07/2017 19:36

Depending how big the amount was, I'd like to help one of my sils get a house as they're renting and would love them to be able to buy near to me and my other sil! But I'd feel like i should give the same amount to mine and dhs other siblings too, and treat our parents each to a nice holiday, as well as paying off our mortgage and a holiday for us. Probably a new car for us too, and have a basement put into our house to add a gym, swimming pool and bigger play room for the kids - or just move to a massive house, as long as it was nearby!

feedmewinenow · 05/07/2017 19:46

My mum and dad definitely would deserve a treat for putting up with me over the years! They'd be the first people I'd want to spoil. My dad retired early on ill health and paid off their mortgage but it leaves them with little for treats so that's what I'd want to do! A trip of a lifetime for them and then a year of an experience every month! Maybe concert tickets one month, a super fancy restaurant the next!
After they'd been spoilt then I'd take DD out of school for a few months, DS out of nursery, take a sabbatical from work and with DP we'd travel! Seeing the world and letting them experience amazing cultures first hand!
Gah...I really want a lottery win as I'd be so good at spending it! None of this my life wouldn't change nonsense Grin

arat · 05/07/2017 20:16

After all of the obvious things like holidays etc, top of my list would be getting a bespoke house built (as we can't find just what we are looking for from developers).

Then it would be gifts for the kids & family ...

LeeR1985 · 05/07/2017 20:25

I spend far too much time dreaming of winning big on the lottery. I'd pay my debts, pay my parents, partners and brothers debts and then take it from there. I'd definitely give them a lump sum to play with after paying debts but it depends entirely on how much I won

alsproject · 05/07/2017 20:37

I'd buy a bigger house closer to my dad so that we can check in on him a lot more. Then I would take my close friends out for dinner

mummymummums · 05/07/2017 20:41

I often think about this!
I'd put away a good nest egg for my children for the future to cover any uni fees, a safe car and a bit more.
Then I'd finish work so I'm not always so stressed and short of time.
I'd buy mum a bungalow.
New car.
Pay off mortgage.
Fab holiday!
Sighhhhhhhh
