Let’s just spend a few moments dreaming about winning the lottery! How would you spend a big windfall? The National Lottery would love hear who you would share your winnings with if you scooped a life changing Lotto prize?

Here’s what The National Lottery have to say: “Amazingly there are over 4,600 National Lottery millionaires now in the UK winning £1 million or more. And what’s lovely to hear is that 95% of winners say they share their jackpot prize with family, charities and friends; with one third helping their children first.*

Real winner stories:

· Matt – I paid off Mums mortgage aged 28… it was the best feeling in the world
· Trish – I’ve set up investments so that years from now my son will be a millionaire just like me
· Natalie – before the win mum gave us so much help with the children, it was amazing to take her on a dream trip to New York to show her how much we love her and appreciated all her support.

That’s what they did, so now tell us: Who would win if you win? Who tops the list of those you would treat and why? "

…would it be giving your DH the ‘boys toy’ he has always wanted?

…or perhaps rewarding Mum & Dad for all their help and support over the years?

…how about an all-expenses paid girly holiday in the sun?

…or is there an individual or community project you’d love to support and help make their dream a reality?

…or how about you invest in a holiday house that everybody can enjoy for years to come?

Everyone who posts on this thread telling The National Lottery about who they would share their Lotto winnings and how will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck,

I would help homeless dogs. Its my dream to win the lottery and open an animal rescue.

daniel1996 · 05/07/2017 12:03

I would look for a bigger house with loads of outdoor space, and a granny flat for my mum who lives alone. I would pay off my sisters mortgage, she is a single parent and has saved so hard to buy her own home. Finally I would invest the remainder to give my family long term financial security.

helsrodders · 05/07/2017 12:09

First thing I'd do is get away from it all with the hubster and children, somewhere hot with lovely beaches. Then we'd make our plans .... where to buy a bigger house, get a decent car, how much to put aside for our retirement, our children, what to give to our family and friends, which local charities we'd like to support.

Falconhoof1 · 05/07/2017 12:13

Depends on the amount but I would like to help a few friends who are hard up. I would also take some close friends on an amazing holiday. Obviously my family would benefit the most; new house, holidays, lots of fun stuff as at the moment going out anywhere exciting is a bit of an expense that we can't afford! Ah, I'm dreaming now....

pinkunicornsarefluffy · 05/07/2017 12:29

Assuming that I won a large sum, I would do all sorts of things with it. £1m would be great, but the dream house I want in our town, is £750K so there wouldn't be much left over Grin.

So assuming I have won £20m or something similar, I would give my parents and sibling all £1m each. I would pay off my closest friends mortgages for all the help they have given me since I became a single parent. I would put £2m away for DD for when she is older.

I would buy my dream house (swimming pool etc), and I would buy a new car, but nothing too flash. i would have lots of holidays, and I would hire a gardener, cleaner, housekeeper, chauffeur, so would create several jobs. I would give up most of my work, but would volunteer in the local charity shop to keep myself busy (when I'm not swimming or on holiday)

I would then set up my own charity, and appoint decent people to run it, in order to help other people with anything they need, whether it be a washing machine or fees for a child's school residential. It would be great to pay it forward and help other people.

iut044 · 05/07/2017 12:38

I would move to a bigger house and make investments for my future .

mayago · 05/07/2017 13:10

I'd pay off my sister's mortgage as well as my own. And possibly move, depending on how big the win was :D

sarah861421 · 05/07/2017 13:14

Pay off my mortgage, and then share with my children and my sister. Isnt it ridiculous that the first thing most of us would do with a large win would be to share it and give it to others

Blobski1 · 05/07/2017 13:15

I would love to say that I'd share it equally with the relatives and friends... but the more I dream about spending the winnings I don't seem to have any imaginary notes left. So as it's just a day dream I shall enjoy it and dream about blowing it all on myself! Haha In reality, who knows! I believe there is a counselling service offered for the big winners to help them make the right decisions. I would certainly need that help :D

I personally would keep my name anonymous if I won the lottery and only tell a select few people, Id make sure my parents had enough to live comfortably and Id invest in property. I think a lot of people just go mad with the money which is understandable but Id think long term and make it work for me.

vickyors · 05/07/2017 13:47

I would build my parents their retirement home, as they don't have the funds to do something they'd love.
I'd pay off our mortgage, and my sister's.
Then I'd give a big chunk to our church so we can do more outreach (outdoor football resurface.) glass front doors.
I'd also give to our local hospital which is amazing.
I'd give a chunk to our friends whose baby daughter is struggling with cancer.
We'd go on a ski trip without thinking each year.
I'd invest the rest, and give 10% every year to charities.
I'd still work. Love my job.

RockingDuck · 05/07/2017 13:48

I would probably want to stay anonymous so the kids wouldn't be kidnap risks..
would make sure all parents/in-laws property paid off, and holiday homes, and some nice meals/trips to NY and London for shopping
I would invest in property and explore interior design, buy horses, and become the world's nicest landlord :-)
Would like the kids to be able to travel with us - show them the world.
Aahhhh dreams :-)

littlemonkeyz · 05/07/2017 13:51

I try not to think about 'what ifs' but if the impossible happened, I would invest lots; pay for medical care for my Dad and make sure that my family have no financial woes. I would also love to take my little boy to Disneyland for a fantastic holiday!

SKBelle · 05/07/2017 13:53

It depends on the amount really, but I am not greedy! I would like a little house with a big garden for me, a house for my parents, a house for my sister. If there's enough money, a nice car for each of us too.

Then the rest would be going to my local dog rescue :)

ICanSeeYourPixelss · 05/07/2017 13:56

I would book a luxury holiday and bring my family along. We'd pay off our mortgage and move near the sea, buy a new car, buy a holiday home and give a good chunk to charities close to our hearts.

I would pay for my lovely Nanna to have a carer come to her home regularly, now she's getting old and lives on her own away from any relatives.

Oh to be so lucky!

mooota1514 · 05/07/2017 13:58

I would buy a house then donate most of the money to two charities: medical detection dogs and DogAID as they are chronically underfunded and provide a literal life saving service.

jacqui5366 · 05/07/2017 14:11

For me it would be a large (but manageable) house, with trees in the garden, a pizza oven, large shed, and lots of land for animals (chickens and pigs) and for the children. I would give a donation to my child's school for new playground equipment, type my resignation letter to my boss, give a nice sum to my close family, then invest the remainder to give me an income and my family financial stability for the future.

Babycarmen · 05/07/2017 14:14

Literally one of the first things I would do, apart from but myself a house, would be to buy my mum a house. She deserves it so much. I'd also buy her a new car and pay off my dads mortgage. I'd love to be able to give back to them and thank them for everything they have done for me and my children over the years.

Emski33 · 05/07/2017 14:30

Pay off bills, buy a bigger house (so we can start trying for baby number 2) put money aside for my son's future - buy my mum a house - give my hubby some spends - and then would treat friends to things as and when they 'deserve' them ;) I would use some of the money to get one on one dance lessons

katieskatie82 · 05/07/2017 14:32

id give some of my lotto winnings to my mum and id make sure my little boy would want for nothing!

kevbanham · 05/07/2017 14:40

the first thing I would do is screeeeeeeam. after that is buy a house, new cars, set a trustfund up for my kids then treat friends and close family

createbeauty · 05/07/2017 14:48

I would pay off my parents' mortgage, put money away for my children, buy a family house and I'd LOVE to become a "secret millionaire", out on the streets meeting people who really need help and helping them. I imagine that would be the best feeling ever.

MrRichTea · 05/07/2017 15:18

I'd buy a house (no more renting!!!) for my family, get a bigger car (so its not like a tetris game everytime we go away) & go on holiday to make memories, I'd just love knowing bills can sod off! lol
