Let’s just spend a few moments dreaming about winning the lottery! How would you spend a big windfall? The National Lottery would love hear who you would share your winnings with if you scooped a life changing Lotto prize?

Here’s what The National Lottery have to say: “Amazingly there are over 4,600 National Lottery millionaires now in the UK winning £1 million or more. And what’s lovely to hear is that 95% of winners say they share their jackpot prize with family, charities and friends; with one third helping their children first.*

Real winner stories:

· Matt – I paid off Mums mortgage aged 28… it was the best feeling in the world
· Trish – I’ve set up investments so that years from now my son will be a millionaire just like me
· Natalie – before the win mum gave us so much help with the children, it was amazing to take her on a dream trip to New York to show her how much we love her and appreciated all her support.

That’s what they did, so now tell us: Who would win if you win? Who tops the list of those you would treat and why? "

…would it be giving your DH the ‘boys toy’ he has always wanted?

…or perhaps rewarding Mum & Dad for all their help and support over the years?

…how about an all-expenses paid girly holiday in the sun?

…or is there an individual or community project you’d love to support and help make their dream a reality?

…or how about you invest in a holiday house that everybody can enjoy for years to come?

Everyone who posts on this thread telling The National Lottery about who they would share their Lotto winnings and how will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck,

Depending on the size of the win .....

Pay off my mortgage & decorate throughout or buy my ideal house

Holidays - would love to visit Kenya for a safari holiday, Australia

An amount set aside in trust for my son who has a learning disability - to cover the harsh reality of when I am no longer around and university fees for my niece

Charities close to my heart

Some close friends and family who have supported me in my times of need

bridge16 · 05/07/2017 21:07

I literally think about this all the time! I would definitely pay my dad back for all his help and support over the years especially as we lost my mum so young. Hes has brought up 5 kids and deserves every bit of happiness so i would love to help him out as well as pay off my own mortgage, amazing!

tubbss · 05/07/2017 21:21

trust fund for our children, lump sum to parents and siblings, a big house with a cottage in the grounds for family to stay and a man cave with a bar, pool table cinema and games systems for my sons, my friends and myself to use!

cocochips · 05/07/2017 21:21

I would secure the financial future for all my nearest and dearest

cheekychicken24 · 05/07/2017 21:26

My three best friends would get a lump sum each, I'd get advice and put a large amount in trust for our kids, and as they're both over 18. I'd give them enough for a car & a holiday each.

Then me n hubby would jump aboard the QM2 & stay on until we got bored!

ninamotylinski · 05/07/2017 21:35

My mum has struggled financially all her life and made constant sacrifices for me so I would share with her so she wouldn't have to worry any more. I would buy her a house. I would send my children to the best schools I could to give them the best chance as they deserve it. I have a few friends who i know are really struggling with life and it would bring me a lot of joy to be able to say 'It's ok, I can help you'. I would also donate a lot of money to my local hospital who are just cutting back and not providing enough decent services for all at the moment.

emmav6 · 05/07/2017 21:37

my mum would come top - new house & car, then treats for my kiddies and some to help out my son's struggling school

twinklenicci · 05/07/2017 21:38

i have quite a big family so i would make sure all of them and my DH family were taken care of . Id buy my mum a bungalow so she didnt have to struggle with the stairs now shes finding things like this harder. And id buy my two oldest driving lessons

Spices001 · 05/07/2017 21:41

I'd definitely share with my daughter & put a lump sum away for her future. We'd have some amazing holidays, travel around U.K.
My mom & stepdad would get a chunk too, my friend Justine & we'd go away for the weekend too.
A chunk to Macmillan & Birmingham Children's Hospital

littleme96 · 05/07/2017 21:42

The first thing I would do is to book an amazing holiday during which we could plan our next steps!

I would probably buy a bigger house and buy my mum a house too. I would invest money for my children to secure their future.

I would donate a lump sum to charity each month - a different charity each time, to help a wide range.

And then lots more holidays! I would probably continue to work because I love my job.

Abominus · 05/07/2017 21:43

I'd buy my parents a nice new house and my dad an expensive car. Other than that, i'd like to give something to charity. Would be nice to do some good in this world. Beyond that i have no idea. Maybe set up some kind of sanctuary for animals, i like animals.

Bah, i'm not very good at this. Wish i was more imaginative.

GingerRogers84 · 05/07/2017 21:44

After all the usual things like house and family, I would spend my time and newly found wealth to fund myself traveling around the world visiting historical sights and maybe indulging in some travel/history writing as I go.

frenchfancy89 · 05/07/2017 21:46

It's a dream for everyone to be financially free and I'm included in this dream too. I'd buy a house for me, my partner and our three children. Buy a car that fits us all in and help out family with their debts.
I'd also treat us to our first family holiday and donate some money to local youth groups in the hope that they don't close

AdoraBell · 05/07/2017 21:48

Parents deceased and ILS already sorted, as in retired on huge private pension with house fully paid. So I would set up trusts for DC, including stepson. Help disabled DSis then give some to charities.

There might be a smidgen of self indulgent shopping too. But not on a large scale.

juju3 · 05/07/2017 22:22

WITH MY HUSBAND CHILDREN AND GRANDDAUGHTER

HollyWolly45 · 05/07/2017 22:28

If I won the lottery, here's how I'd spend it;

I'd pay off my mum and dad's mortgage...,,,,, that's a given.

Then I'd go on an amazing family holiday.

I'd spend some money modernising the bathroom

Then if I had some left, I buy my hubby that car he'd been going on about ( he deserves it massively ;) )

stupidphone · 05/07/2017 22:47

If I won the lottery.... I would pay off mortgage and help family out. I have often dreamed of this but I honestly do think I would continue to work. I am a midwife and I would buy a great big old house, employ loads of amazing staff and would run a mother and baby unit. For young or vulnerable mums and their babies. I would to try and change the cycle of deprivation - even on a small scale. Obviously I would also go on a massive holiday with my kids without having to work ridiculous hours to try and pay for one like normal! 😁

kiksmyass · 05/07/2017 23:11

Step 1. Get financial advisor
Step 2. Buy plane tickets
Step 3. Go travelling around the world with my fiance
Step 4. Settle down somewhere we like most

lhlee62 · 05/07/2017 23:47

I dream about this all the time, the first thing I would do is quit my job as they don't value their staff at all. I'd pay off my mortgage and my parents' mortgage and I'd go travelling around the world. I'd also make sure my kids were sorted for life by putting some money aside for them and maybe buying a house for them.

Dothbutternoparsnips · 06/07/2017 05:58

I'd keep working as I run a business and love it although I love the thought of being able to invest loads in without worrying.

The first thing would be a new office. All to myself!

I'm also in the process of starting s charity so I'd love it that I could finance the whole thing (secretly)

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 06/07/2017 06:10

All my DC would get a couple of thousand each, and I'd buy an old family friend a flat in London, as he wouldn't want to move out. I'd put a few thousand into a separate bank account to pay for a cure for cystic fibrosis for DS1, when they find one.

mumonashoestring · 06/07/2017 06:18

Ha, have had this mentally sorted for ages! House for us, house for my parents, house for DH's flat-broke-but-lovely cousin & his family. Help with mortgages for anyone who needed it or a lump sum for those who didn't. Lump sums put away for all the kids.

If it was the euromillions we'd endow a couple of scholarships at Oxford for those with good grades but no money, make some large donations to GOSH, Cancer Research (possibly endow a Fellowship for research into pancreatic cancer), a few small local animal and community care charities, and buy a smallholding to take in both abused animals and people and rehabilitate them alongside each other. Oh, and a proper 1920s vintage American bootlegger Grin

AVT5 · 06/07/2017 06:19

I would buy a huge plot of land big enough for multiple houses so none of my family will ever go without a lovely paid off house. My dad wants a fishing lake and my DH wants a golf course on the land. I would take my kids to Disney land florida and send DH's mum and dad on a cruise. I would love to set up a business as well. I love the idea of a cake company run from home! Oh and a gorgeous car for us and my dad!

ExtraPineappleExtraHam · 06/07/2017 07:34

Mow

Hanhan28 · 06/07/2017 08:13

If I won the lottery, I'd buy myself a house. I'd also like to make my family and friends comfortable so would pay off the mortgages of my closest friends and family. I'd still want to work because I'd get bored but would be sure to have a few holidays. It would be nice to not have to worry about money and be able to give my daughter things without worrying about cost.
