Many of us look back longingly at our Mums’ home cooking but, with full-time jobs and busy lifestyles not to mention that take-away restaurant just around the corner it can be hard to get your own cooking up to her standards. That’s why Tefal want to know about the best things your Mum used to make for you on weeknights - that you wish you had the skills, confidence and time to cook for your family.

Here’s what Tefal have to say: ‘You don’t need to be a masterchef to achieve delicious meals in no time! Tefal have innovated again, and now give you Cook4Me.

Cook4Me is a one-pot digital cooker, ideal for mums looking to make fast and fresh meals. It is easy to use and intuitive: Cook4Me comes with 50 built-in recipes, and features a digital screen with guided cooking steps. Cook4Me cooks under pressure, which means you will save a lot of time. For example, after browning and pre-heating, it cooks a Chicken Tikka Masala in 3 minutes, a Thai Green Chicken curry in 4 minutes and a Risotto in 9 minutes (and no need to stir!)… It is the ideal all-in-one cooker, with up to 6 cooking manual modes: not only does it pressure cook, but it also steams, browns, simmers, gentle-cooks and automatically keeps your food warm. Its dishwasher-safe bowl can feed 6 people, perfect for the whole family or for batch-cooking.

Cook4Me comes in a standard version, with 50 built-in recipes, and in a Connected version, that works with My Cook4Me app, giving access to over 100 recipes.

You can use this link to purchase a Cook4Me of your own, at a fantastic 50% off retail price.’

Whether it’s a signature risotto, a flavoursome curry or the classic chili con carne, post on the thread below your Mum’s best dishes that you wish you could replicate. Everyone who posts will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will be randomly selected to win a Cook4Me.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw.

Got to be mums Lasagne and spag bol.

clarabella12 · 22/05/2017 00:05

roast chicken...I love it but never have the time plus I can't touch raw chicken.

flapjack35 · 22/05/2017 01:04

Her homemade cheese and onion pie.....I always seem to get it wrong, Its either too much onion, its cooked too long, so ends up rock hard or I don't cook long enough and pastry is still raw underneath, something always goes wrong when attempting her recipe....No matter what I do it just never taste the same as my mums.

I wish i could make my mums lasagna, so much better than the ones i make and even the kids know it, "are we going to nanna;s can she make lasagna?" and thankfully there is normally a huge one waiting for us!

bex552 · 22/05/2017 07:08

Lasagne!b My mums is delicious, mine is just a sloppy mess!

Iamthemotherofdragons · 22/05/2017 07:28

My mum made an amazing roast dinner. Even though I cook them the same way, I can never get my roast potatoes quite the same as hers.

cathyov · 22/05/2017 09:02

My mum used to make some amazing soups with her pressure cooker and using up caracasses of meat. Not quite sure what went in them but they tasted so wholesome and filling and sure they were very good for us. This was a time when nothing was ever wasted in the kitchen but the meals always tasted good.

icompmse1978 · 22/05/2017 09:11

yorkshire puddings. mine never are the same!!

Dessallara · 22/05/2017 09:13

Those that she cooked in a slow cooker throughout the day it meant she didn't spend all evening in the kitchen but playing or chatting with me instead :)

emily13 · 22/05/2017 09:27

My mum used to cook an amazing lasagne, the secret ingredient was cider.

manfalou · 22/05/2017 10:11

My mum did some amazing meals... she made up her own recipes. Her Cherry sauce to go on meats was amazing! My favourite meal she cooked was Lasagne... luckily she passed on her secret recipe to me ;)

jennie1984j · 22/05/2017 10:50

My Mums Sausage Meat Pie. It was a different experience hot and cold and was lovely

jacqroberts68 · 22/05/2017 10:56

She used to make the most amazing beef stew that was so full of flavour with the fluffiest dumplings.

Ruletheroost · 22/05/2017 11:32

She makes a fab cheese and onion pie made with crumbly lancashire cheese, and her lancashire hot pot is to die for. Ultimate comfort food.

dr31 · 22/05/2017 12:35

My mums meat and potato pies! Yum, great childhood memories.

clareycat · 22/05/2017 13:25

My Mum's spag bol is simply divine & even though i've watched her closely i can never quite replicate the flavour. It's always so much more tasty then i can ever manage to get it.

ikkle87 · 22/05/2017 13:49

The most beautiful and tasty curry that as much as I try I can never seem to get spot on.

gemmygemgem · 22/05/2017 13:50

My mum makes an awesome roast beef, everything about it is good, the yorkshires, the gravy the potatoes mmmmm she should be able to make a Cornish pasty as my nan is the queen of them but unfortunately my nan didn't pass her skills down lol x

NEMSparkle · 22/05/2017 13:51

Roast chicken dinner, hands down beats all! There is just something about her gravy and puddings that are amazing. My DB and DS don't know how lucky they are living so close to her and get this on a weekly basis.

pinkspideruk · 22/05/2017 14:05

my mum does amazing puff pastry pie toppings - my pastry always end ups more flat than puff (unlike my hair which remains puffy not flat no matter how much i try!)

colleenw · 22/05/2017 14:34

My Mum's chicken stew - I've tried and tried and I just can't get it as tasty and thick as hers.

shelley3281 · 22/05/2017 15:41

ill never forget my mums absolutely delicious homemade cream of mushroom soup, followed by homemae lasagne and garlic bread.. been my fave meal since i was a child.. my daughter prefers a Mcdonalds :)

Confuzzlediddled · 22/05/2017 16:57

Like many others we had a lot of mince based dishes, but one thing we used to love was when my dad gave my mum "a night off!" He used to make bacon and egg pie, which was the cheapest cuts of bacon with eggs and a pastry lid! I used to love playing with the offcuts of pastry and we always had clean plates with that one - in fact it's the one thing DD asks for when she's home! It was the only thing he could ever cook apart from his amazing fried breakfasts

My mums best meal that I remember wasn't really hers at all,
It was a packet mix of chicken supreme (made by Knorr I think) with boiled rice, but I loved it all the same and it beat the liver and onions which were home made.

lottiegirl · 22/05/2017 17:54

my mums sausage casserole now i remember havent had it for ages so will have to this week.
