Many of us look back longingly at our Mums’ home cooking but, with full-time jobs and busy lifestyles not to mention that take-away restaurant just around the corner it can be hard to get your own cooking up to her standards. That’s why Tefal want to know about the best things your Mum used to make for you on weeknights - that you wish you had the skills, confidence and time to cook for your family.

Here’s what Tefal have to say: ‘You don’t need to be a masterchef to achieve delicious meals in no time! Tefal have innovated again, and now give you Cook4Me.

Cook4Me is a one-pot digital cooker, ideal for mums looking to make fast and fresh meals. It is easy to use and intuitive: Cook4Me comes with 50 built-in recipes, and features a digital screen with guided cooking steps. Cook4Me cooks under pressure, which means you will save a lot of time. For example, after browning and pre-heating, it cooks a Chicken Tikka Masala in 3 minutes, a Thai Green Chicken curry in 4 minutes and a Risotto in 9 minutes (and no need to stir!)… It is the ideal all-in-one cooker, with up to 6 cooking manual modes: not only does it pressure cook, but it also steams, browns, simmers, gentle-cooks and automatically keeps your food warm. Its dishwasher-safe bowl can feed 6 people, perfect for the whole family or for batch-cooking.

Cook4Me comes in a standard version, with 50 built-in recipes, and in a Connected version, that works with My Cook4Me app, giving access to over 100 recipes.

You can use this link to purchase a Cook4Me of your own, at a fantastic 50% off retail price.’

Whether it’s a signature risotto, a flavoursome curry or the classic chili con carne, post on the thread below your Mum’s best dishes that you wish you could replicate. Everyone who posts will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will be randomly selected to win a Cook4Me.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw.

Rhubarb crumble. Mum made lots of fantastic food. All plain simple things, but really nice.

I still like my food to be plain and simple.

My mum used to make chicken in a creamy sauce the day after a roast chicken dinner, using the left over chicken. I could never get enough of it. I have never been able to replicate it even with her recipe, so even now I have been away from home over 20 years, I always get this when I visit!

jamielmdjs · 21/05/2017 14:32

my mum wasn't a great cook to be hones. She was first to admit it. But her Irish Stew and Carrot and Potato soup recipes were her forte.

myboycraig · 21/05/2017 15:16

Unfortunately my mum is an awful cook lol. She would really benefit from a digital cooker Wink

My Mum used to make stew with bacon bones, potatoes, onions and lentils. It was a staple when growing up and also after we moved back in when my Dad died. She made her own dumplings.
I remember once her making it when my husband was working away. We both had a bowl Pyrex dish of stew and dumplings and then had another serving it was soooo nice.
I can still remember the feeling of being so full up, I needed to be winched out of my chair Grin
I miss her

My mum makes the most amazing Thai green curry, it's delicious.

Blondie1982 · 21/05/2017 15:49

Stewed steak meat pie 😋

MAT12 · 21/05/2017 16:29

A really tasty meal my mum would make midweek would be a home made chicken and veg soup with the chicken left from sunday roast and the veggies that were not quite up to serving outside a soup. She always would make a large loaf to go with it, we always cut doorstep size. it was just such a hearty dish to come home to after walking back from school on a cold winters day.

Awww my mum used to make a wicked sausage and onion plait, she has since told me it was what she made at the month end before payday when money was tight as it was cheap and cheerful to make, yet it was the best thing she ever made.

girls2go · 21/05/2017 18:14

My mums legendary roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding roast dinner I could never get the roasties to crisps up like hers until she told me she used lard and also the homemade gravy she used cream it was delicious

alison991 · 21/05/2017 18:58

My mum does a fabulous chicken paprika recipe

grannybiker · 21/05/2017 19:46

Cheesy I know, but my Mum's chicken soup was sublime!
It was pretty labour intensive tho' as it involved boiling up the chicken carcass after a Sunday roast and picking the bones clean.

leighanne1976 · 21/05/2017 19:53

her cornbeef hash was always a winner in our house and although I've since cooked a few its one meal that would never taste

lori6290 · 21/05/2017 20:00

molly57 · 21/05/2017 20:51

My mums best meal was her home made soup made from very few ingredients but tastes wonderful.

cluckyhen · 21/05/2017 20:59

Pasta, usually with tuna and tom sauce, few veggies thrown in! Home made and healthy and a firm favourite with my kids too

carpathian · 21/05/2017 21:16

my mums corned beef hash, whenever I make it It doesn't taste quite the same, no idea why Have followed her instructions to the letter. My mum is an excellent cook this one dish just reminds me of my childhood, it's what we had at the end of the month before we went shopping and stocked up again.

chinichats · 21/05/2017 21:47

My Mams Panackelty recipe, which was also used by my Grandma, who made it for my Grandad when he came back in from the pit, it's a North East recipe, main ingredients are Corned Beef, Sausage and Root Veg, I can always remember they could never agree if a tin of Oxtail Soup should be added or not, I make it without and my family love it, quick, easy and very filling! Great winter warmer!

KnottedAnchorChief · 21/05/2017 22:18

My mum is an amazing cook and very adventurous really. I remember when I was very little she would make home made chicken Kiev from scratch on Friday nights. There was always a tense moment when we all cut into them one by one to see if all the buttery garlic juices would still b e inside and she always managed to get them perfect! You can buy these anywhere now ready made but they will never have the flavour and sheer drum-roll drama of my mums home made ones.

baconbap · 21/05/2017 22:37

toad in the hole and macaroni cheese

bc1616 · 21/05/2017 22:57

My mum makes the best roast chicken and lamb too. Her roast pots are amazing too!

lilrahi · 21/05/2017 23:04

Mom taught me how to make meat curry and no one cooks it like her

Beepow · 21/05/2017 23:12

It's got to be mum's bolognese - its just not the same when I make it!!
