With Easter fast approaching, Cadbury would like to hear about your family’s Easter traditions. Is there a tradition from your childhood that you’re passing on to the next generation? Or have you used your imagination to think up something that’s completely your own? Do you have a traditional family Easter lunch planned, or will you be spending the day working your way through your new chocolate egg stash? Is there a location you always like to visit over the long weekend? Perhaps your Easter Bunny devises egg hunts that could outfox even the wiliest of hunters?

Here’s what Cadbury has to say: “Easter is a really special time of the year where families come together and we believe Egg Hunts are the perfect ritual for the whole family to enjoy! We are really excited to hear about people’s Easter traditions and how they bring their families together during the Easter period”

Whatever your favourite family Easter traditions, share with Cadbury by the 12th April for a chance to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

We go to our mum's house and all the kids have an easter egg hunt and then a egg and spoon race around the garden!

littlemonkeyz · 03/04/2017 11:52

Husband is usually at work but we try to do an Easter egg hunt with my little boy.

Pmliu · 03/04/2017 12:01

We have a family Easter roast or a BBQ and get all the family together for some family games and fun. One of our favourites is an Easter treasure hunt.

jhill11 · 03/04/2017 13:31

We never had any Easter traditions growing up so I decided I wanted to do one with my son..... so every year I make him a treasure map & hide various small Easter treats (books/stationary/ chocolate) around the house & garden (weather permitting) and as soon as he gets up we all go around the house finding his hidden treats!

Mum does an easter egg hunt, it's all set up after everyone is asleep, we go down and the DC generally have a small none edible gift and a boxed easter egg from the easter bunny, then we have the easter egg hunt before breakfast and one small egg is consumed per person before breakfast.

There are different kinds of eggs and afterwards we split them so that everyone has 1 creme egg, 2 oreo eggs etc, so the easter egg is fun rather than "he found more than me, it's not fair..." sort of problems. There is one larger item hidden too and whoever finds that wins the easter egg hunt (and keeps it)

The DC then tend to hide and find the eggs over and over through the day

Memory Game
This is a game we arrange with the Grandchildren and their neighbors
It's a matching game that tests who has the best memory. Make matching pairs of colored eggs, dyeing one side only. Set eggs face down in rows. The first player tries to find a match by turning over two eggs. If they match, he keeps them and goes again. If not, he turns them face down, and the next player is up. Kids keep taking turns until all the matches are found. Whoever finds the most wins the game.

We do the more standard Easter traditions - boil eggs, paint and then do an egg roll for DCs with the cousins. Mass on Easter sunday. Family dinner. Chocolate eggs, some hidden in the garden.

Also now do a cake decorated with easter things (I made this tradition up!). Thinking of carrot cake this year!

My parents have always done an Easter egg hunt (every year for the last 28 years) whereby my Dad starts stockpiling cream eggs/caramel/galaxy eggs from after Christmas before going out very early on Easter Sunday to hide them all: on window sills, in the kayaks, in little holes in the slate wall etc. He then stands on the balcony with a klaxon (starting signal) which he sounds periodically if he feels effort is lacking...
My brother and I used to do it when we were little and now our children do it. I am looking forward to seeing DS2 at his first "hunt" this year.

jakki66 · 03/04/2017 15:29

I do the same for my two granddaughters Olivia & Elsie as I did with my own kids..Good Friday we have Hot Cross Buns and weather permitting on the Saturday we like to head to either Southend or Clacton, Easter Sunday is always a Easter Egg hunt followed by a family Sunday Roast and a good film on DVD.. Monday is a chilled day with hopfully a trip to the Shopping Center to find a few bargians

Our dm always used to make us (solid!) chocolate animals from moulds, sometimes she'd layer or marble different types of chocolate too. We're all grown up now but she still does it sometimes Grin

sjl19 · 03/04/2017 15:41

We have a family meal on Easter Sunday and we organise an Easter Egg hunt in the garden.

emmmaaa26 · 03/04/2017 16:17

Im at work but we like to spend the morning having a chocolate breakfast - not very healthy but the only one in the year.

Reow · 03/04/2017 16:30

A lovely big fat roast lunch

Gwencooper81 · 03/04/2017 16:49

We eat copious amounts of chocolate. Enjoy a big roast dinner and usually finish off with an egg hunt.
Good times Grin

UpOnDown · 03/04/2017 17:29

We hide small eggs around the house and have a hunt if it's rainy.

dizzytina · 03/04/2017 18:12

We always go up Holcombe Hill in our local village and roll hardboiled eggs down the hill that we have decorated. I used to do this with my mum and dad and we now do it with our daughter.

This year my husbands birthday falls on Easter Sunday so we will be celebrating with my our whole family by going out for a nice meal too.

devito92 · 03/04/2017 18:42

mandy151977 · 03/04/2017 19:02

We have a easter egg hunt in my mum's back garden for the kids

michaela2002 · 03/04/2017 19:23

we love to go out for easter lunch as a family then go for a walk along the seafront.

Laurenboyle22 · 03/04/2017 19:24

At Easter we visit most of our family . On Easter Sunday lunch time we go to my mother in laws for a family dinner, she sets up an Easter egg hunt all over the garden and house for the kids. We then watch a family film and on the evening time she does a party tea 😀 The children always love it!

lindseystuart855 · 03/04/2017 19:39

My family and I have always loved Easter! It is the beautiful spring season and it means summer is on it's way :)
We always start off Easter morning with bacon and sausage rolls then we head off to our local Forrest for an Easter egg trial it is great fun and exciting!
My mum and dad always have my partner, our daughter and I down for a roast dinner then we watch a movie or a box set and enjoy some chocolate eggs in the evening! :)

hayls83 · 03/04/2017 19:51

We club together with our neighbours and organise an easter egg hunt for the kids. Great fun for all and gets everyone together.

jandoc · 03/04/2017 20:38

we don't yet have a big routine as we are just settling into it

Spirael · 03/04/2017 20:40

The Easter Bunny in our area leaves lots of small chocolate eggs around the house overnight, and a small basket next to the bed of each child. The kids wake up and then spend the next hour searching the house for eggs, before enjoying a chocolate breakfast while their parents have a lie in...

IncaAztec · 03/04/2017 20:42

We do a fun Easter Egg hunt around the garden (and sometimes the house too). We try to beat the clock against each other to get the most eggs!
