With Easter fast approaching, Cadbury would like to hear about your family’s Easter traditions. Is there a tradition from your childhood that you’re passing on to the next generation? Or have you used your imagination to think up something that’s completely your own? Do you have a traditional family Easter lunch planned, or will you be spending the day working your way through your new chocolate egg stash? Is there a location you always like to visit over the long weekend? Perhaps your Easter Bunny devises egg hunts that could outfox even the wiliest of hunters?

Here’s what Cadbury has to say: “Easter is a really special time of the year where families come together and we believe Egg Hunts are the perfect ritual for the whole family to enjoy! We are really excited to hear about people’s Easter traditions and how they bring their families together during the Easter period”

Whatever your favourite family Easter traditions, share with Cadbury by the 12th April for a chance to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

I always work Easter which means it's not really a day we have traditions for - it's more about trying to fit everything in. However I always get the kids Easter eggs with their names on because that's what we did as children, and I always make an Easter lemon cake (even if it doesn't happen until the week after!). Over the last few years we seem to have ended up having egg hunts with family/friends which have been fun.

We hide the easter eggs for the kids to find in the morning and then have chocolate for breakfast :)

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 12/04/2017 14:14

DD has a winter birthday which is always useless for outdoor toys as she doesn't get to use them for a while. So we do an egg hunt in the garden at Easter and she usually gets one or two outdoor toys (that we would have bought her anyway).

It usually means she can get straight out there and use it, popular presents so far have been a bike, a scooter and a trampoline.

We go to church as a family to celebrate Easter - usually followed by meeting up with other family members. This year my kids and I are going to meet up with my mum, dad, sisters, their hubbies and my niece and nephew and all go out for a meal together as it's too much for one person to cater for everyone. It's going to be a 220 mile round trip for me to drive, but I haven't seen everyone for so long so it's going to be exciting. Often one of the family will set up a little Easter Egg hunt for the kids too and my kids get spoiled with far too much chocolate from relatives! It's a very fun sociable time for everyone to catch up.

Easter traditions are going to be starting this year, so I am reading this thread with interest to see if I can adopt some. My child has announced that she will give a big hop with the Easter bunny so that chocolate eggs fall out of all the flowers, so at the very least an acceptable alternative has to be conjured up for Sunday

ann28 · 12/04/2017 16:04

My mum make rice krispie cakes with mini eggs in the middle - she's done it since we were little, why change a great tradition??

molly57 · 12/04/2017 17:06

At work a colleague organises Easter Eggs for all the staff. I cook roast lamb and all the trimmings for dinner and have chocolate Easter Eggs for afters.

glad25 · 12/04/2017 18:03

I've always done an easter egg hunt for my children they love it :)

cathyov · 12/04/2017 20:34

We have a nice Easter Egg hunt to work up an appetite for a big roast dinner - the great thing is I never have to worry about what we having for afters as it is chocolate eggs and more of the same for tea! Easter day is definitely an over indulgence of chocolate!

pinkspideruk · 12/04/2017 20:35

we dont really celebrate easter - we also dont give a lot of eggs - we allow the kids to have one egg each and then everyone else gives them money or clothes or a book or a toy. We normally go out as a family over the bank holiday though to a museum or a local event

stewaris · 12/04/2017 20:36

WE always take the kids somewhere special - weather dependant of course. If the weather is good generally a park or the beach where they can run around and roll easter eggs. If it's not great either out to the cinema or their choice of films and junky snacks as a treat nd lots of choclate of course.

Jocelynne123 · 12/04/2017 20:54

Our tradition is to start the day with crumpets with cheese on. We then meet a number of friends and their dogs go for a nice long walk on the beach with the dogs. We even go if it's raining. Followed by ice cream. Finally we cuddle up in the settee just us and watch a movie with as much chocolate as we can eat. Xx

PorridgeAgainAbney · 12/04/2017 21:07

We don't have any traditions beyond eating an egg and having a roast to be honest. Maybe I'll go wild and organise an egg hunt in the house and garden this year....

Dessallara · 12/04/2017 22:03

We are painting boiled eggs and eating on Easter morning! Also have an egg hunt around the house! :)

clarabella12 · 12/04/2017 22:24

going on an egg hunt, this year we're going to our local national trust to partake in theirs.

tishist · 12/04/2017 23:32

We have a competition to see who can save their chocolate the longest.

chrismse · 12/04/2017 23:46

We have an Easter Egg Hunt at nanna`s house then have lunch with her. If its a nice day its off to fly kites at Dunstable Downs. If its raining its home for a movie,

HalimaB · 13/04/2017 00:44

Easter egg hunts for the kids at hampton courts!

nerysw · 13/04/2017 20:48

Buying reduced eggs after the event (I am a cheapskate).

annarack99 · 15/04/2017 07:34

The Easter bunny leaves eggs or small gifts for our children to find on Easter Sunday

Tonkatol · 15/04/2017 23:07

My husband, eldest children and I attend the Maundy Thursday service at our church and possibly the Good Friday service. The whole Easter weekend is about spending time together. On Easter Sunday we go to church and then have a big family roast - this year, my brother will be joining us. We do have a small Easter Egg hunt at home on Easter Sunday morning - my eldest daughter hides the eggs for her siblings around the house and they all hunt for them - my children are 21,19,17 and 10; tonight the 10 year old questioned whether the Easter Bunny is real or not - so I think this is the last year she will even pretend to believe in the Easter Bunny.

Whilst our family believes the focus of Easter should be on Jesus, it doesn't mean that the children cannot enjoy some fun and chocolate.

sassolino · 18/04/2017 14:37

When I was a child, my Mum taught me how to dye eggs, using onion skins, herbs and old tights to wrap the eggs in. Now I do it for my family.
If we happen to spend Easter with my in-laws in Italy, we always have an Italian Easter cake called Colomba, which is like a dove-shaped panettone.
My children love creme eggs, and we make all sorts of desserts with them, like brownies, cupcakes and chocolate bark.

Always an egg hunt - but for my dad too! He didn't really have much of a childhood so never got to do things like that and he is like a big kid when he is with his grandchildren.

HannahLI · 20/04/2017 12:58

It has to be the Easter egg hunt, so much fun and my kids look forward to it every year. We also love spending time with the wider family too.

Passmethecrisps · 22/04/2017 19:07

Well this year my dd decided to dye some eggs. Then she insisted on keeping them in her bedroom for about a week. Thankfully she decided herself that they were ready for the bin before their presence became truly offensive
