Co-op wants to know how you would make your mother’s day? - £300 voucher to be won NOW CLOSED

To celebrate Mother’s Day, Co-op wants to find out what would make your mother’s day this coming Sunday. Maybe she’s a Mum with simple tastes, and a card or bunch of flowers will suffice to make her really happy? Or perhaps you’re going all out this year, inviting her around for a meal and a day spent with the family. If you’re taking a more creative approach, perhaps you’ll be making her gifts by yourself, or just planning a day together for some one-on-one time with you - maybe brunch and the cinema? As a mum, tell us what would make your day extra special?

Here’s what Co-op has to say: “This Mother’s Day we want everyone to think about their mum and how to make it really personal and special to her. To not only buy the usual expected mother’s day gifts, but to really think about what makes your mum happy. Because only when you really know your mum can you really make it her day.”

Whatever it is that you’re going to do to make your mother’s day really special, Co-op wants to know. Please share your thoughts below - everyone who posts will be entered into a prize draw and one MNer will win a £300 Co-op vouchers.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

A thoughtful message and something handmade from the children :)

hanliying · 27/03/2017 20:34

Just to read the wonderful cards my kids made is a great moment for Mother's Day for me

Rigbyroo · 27/03/2017 21:18

I would have loved to spend it with my mum as well as my children but we live too far away. I had a lovely day which was exactly as I wanted, a day walking and talking in the sunshine.

Have to agree about the handmade cards, they were the best part of Mother's Day for me. My little boy wrote 'you are special to me because you have a heart full of love' - choked me up! Also had a cooked breakfast from hubby and some Ferrero Rocher chocolates (that I boughtGrin), lovely.

Pigeonpea · 27/03/2017 21:44

Breakfast in Bed and a hot bubble bath on my own, with no interruptions!

Maiyakat · 27/03/2017 22:00

Afternoon tea in a beautiful setting with the sun shining would be lovely for both me and my mum!

Anj123 · 27/03/2017 22:05

Lie in, lunch out and chocolate! A perfect day!!

Bring my Dad out from the nursing home to spend time at home with mum. That would make her day but not possible at moment - instead take her to see Dad at the home and spoil her with choccie treats.

I forgot all about Mother's Day until the Friday before! My DDs had made little gifts at school so they hid them on Friday ready to give to me on Sunday. I wasn't too fussed about the day itself, although my DDs wanted to make me breakfast in bed the reality (they are 4 & 6) was that I was up making them breakfast as usual! They were gracious enough to 'share' my Mother's Day chocolates and cake though - bless them! Wink

A homemade card. Something small that the children have chosen. Chocolate and flowers are always nice. A big cuddle and a little thank you.

My parents were staying with us and as I was working Mother's Day they got to look after the poorly child. That's an excellent present, non?

theoracleofdelphi · 28/03/2017 10:45

Getting out into nature and feeling that Spring has sprung with my children is my number one Mother's Day treat! Perhaps a picnic full of Co Op goodies and a cheeky bottle of fizz!

katiewalters · 28/03/2017 17:52

My mom lives in a different City and we don't see her very often. So a surprise visit with her grandchildren, a card and a bunch of flowers would be perfect for my mom

BeeMyBaby · 28/03/2017 18:19

For Mother's Day my mother just wanted her children and grandchildren around her, do everyone had s meal at her house.

funkypyjamas · 28/03/2017 20:12

We made a card and a cake for DW and went to the beach. She loves a good homemade card, honestly you could announce the coming of the apocalypse with a paper and fabric collage in an envelope and she'd be over the moon.

Nothing extravagant but it was a nice, simple day in the sunshine Smile.

rachaelsit · 28/03/2017 21:02

This year i spent less and generally made less of a deal about it than it seems most are. We made a picture for my mum (me and toddler) and I bought her some affirmation cards. We spent the day before together but not because it was Mother's Day especially. I hate the consumerism that goes with these days.

finova · 28/03/2017 21:49

I try and get a gift for the home that will last as opposed to flowers/chocs.
E.g. A nice print or new salt and pepper mill.

littledinaco · 28/03/2017 22:04

Homemade cards, homemade cake and photographs always go down well.

MrsOllyMurs · 29/03/2017 00:04

I spent the day with my Mum this year - first time for about 5 years. It was nice just to be together. If I'm honest, an unlimited budget to pay for a meal out, and lovely wine to wash it down, would have been good. But we enjoyed our own special day together, looking after each other

SillyMoomin · 29/03/2017 00:29

I'll tell her I love her. I haven't for many many years. But it's finally time. Smile

FlukeSkyeRunner · 29/03/2017 07:32

For me its the homemade cards from my lively girls. For my mom its something related to her grandchildren - this year we had a photo of all the grandchildren made into a canvas print. She loved it.

NeverTwerkNaked · 29/03/2017 09:10

My mum lives 100s of miles away so next year I would like to suprise her by being there on Mother's Day (this year I couldn't)

CordeliaScott · 29/03/2017 13:19

I went to a gin bar on the Saturday evening with my mom for cocktails and then she came round to my house on the Sunday for lunch with my nan and by mother in law. Whilst my husband did try to help I think my favourite part of the day was when they all left and I was finally able to collapse on the couch!

PiesDescalzos · 29/03/2017 14:11

For me a lovely card with my toddler's adorable colouring in was just what I was hoping for! I love her colourful scribbles and it means more when you feel they've done it just for you. Smile I also received a surprise small bottle of dkny perfume - now I don't usually get (or expect!) perfume on this day but dh knew I had taken a shine to it as I kept spraying it when we went shopping, and he thought I deserved a treat for coping with our dd's challenging behaviour this past year! It was a lovely thoughtful gift. Truthfully though I'm more of a sentimental person and can not wait until dd can make me something herself which I can keep and treasure forever. I did the same for my mum so I just can't wait until it's my turn Smile

I was unable to make the 60 mile journey to see my mum and granny, however we are making up for it this weekend. I hope to take them to the cinema if granny is well enough, and cook a lovely tea afterward. Can't wait.

claza93 · 29/03/2017 19:24

We spent the day today, mass first thing then a lovely walk whilst the grandkids sped round on their bikes. Followed by a yummy roast! The kids gave her daffodils and we donated to Cafod instead of buying her a pressie this year as this is what she asked for.
