To celebrate the launch of the latest Smurfs film, Smurfs: The Lost Village, in cinemas March 31, we'd like to hear all about your kids’ favourite hiding places. What are the oddest places things have been lost and found in your house? Please share your stories in the thread below.

Here’s what Smurfs has to say about their latest film: “In this all-new take on the Smurfs, a mysterious map sets Smurfette and her best friends Brainy, Clumsy, and Hefty on an exciting race through the Forbidden Forest, to find a mysterious lost village before the evil wizard Gargamel does. It’s a Smurftastic adventure!”

So, which weird and wonderful places have your DC picked out as hiding spots? Perhaps they've lost a treasured possession after putting it somewhere for "safe keeping"? Or have you found 'hidden' snacks in the crack between their bed and the wall? Toys in the depths of the airing cupboard? Notes from school stuffed in the fridge? (Perhaps you're guilty of some of these yourself!)

Or perhaps you've found your child hiding somewhere unusual - in the dog basket, or in the laundry under a pile of dirty pants and socks? Maybe you discovered they’d turned your favourite geranium bush into a top secret spy headquarters?

Whatever your story, Smurfs would like to hear it so please post it below. Everyone who posts will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Smurfs: The Lost Village will hit UK cinemas March 31, with special preview screenings March 25 and 26.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

DC Hides under the stairs, perhaps he thinks he is Harry Potter

SSCRASE123 · 08/03/2017 08:19

Like most kids they love to build dens out of anything they can find. My daughter though seems to think she can't be seen whilst hiding behind a glass panelled door, bless her.

feefeegabor · 08/03/2017 08:24

My daughter loves to hide in our shower cubicle when playing hide and seek - it has a wall so you can't see when you look in without opening the door. Her favourite hiding place for her toys etc. is under her bed. Not very original but there you go!

ThemisA · 08/03/2017 08:28

My youngest loves to get out all the blankets and old sheets and makes an enormous den in the living room, bedroom or outside. He makes it really cosy with duvet, pillows etc. He loves it when I pretend I can't find him.

bubbleybooboo · 08/03/2017 08:32

My children think that if they cant see you, then you cant see them. A game of hide and seek is so funny as the just run round and find a corner put their hands over their eyes! Then they wonder how we find them so quick! haha

My son always believed I couldn't see him if he covered his face and when he was a little older he would hide in the garden and couldn't believe that the dog would always spoil it by finding him easily. His favourite place for hiding items was always the peg basket so I would get a surprise when hanging out the washing!

frances93 · 08/03/2017 08:48

I don't encourage it but I often find my little one cuddled up in the dogs bed, it's always been a favourite place

phillie1 · 08/03/2017 08:50

as long as they couldnt see us, they thought they were hidden, so covered their eyes up, they were hiding.

devito92 · 08/03/2017 08:59

My DS would hide under the reclining sofa

Batfink78 · 08/03/2017 09:16

Our daughter (2) is going through a stage where she comes in to our bedroom in a morning and gets in our bed then says "I go hide now" and crawls under the covers and stays there not saying a word. If you look under or anything she will shout "NO find me" and wave her hand at you. She comes out a minute or two later and carries on with her day. Smile

I found some stale biscuits in my sons duvet cover when I was changing his bedding! He must have hidden them & forgotten about it!

shellywkd · 08/03/2017 09:25

My daughter used to hide things in her shoes which wasn't great as she kept forgetting and lego in a boot when you forget it is there can be quite painful.

Sammyislost · 08/03/2017 09:27

My son loves to curl up and hide in the dog basket! Sometimes it can take a while to see him there as he is so quiet. It's a great idea too, because the dog will follow him to any other hiding spot instantly revealing his location!!

footdust · 08/03/2017 09:45

My daughter aged 7 took a particular dislike to a rain jacket I bought her and hated wearing it - so she hid it behind the hot water tank in the airing cupboard.

emmav6 · 08/03/2017 09:47

my son found a fantastic hiding place for the car keys once, took us 2 days to find them!!!!!! hidden safely at the back of the shoe cupboard :)

southernsun · 08/03/2017 09:48

We couldnt find DS1 for ages when he was three, we could hear a little chuckle every now and then but no matter where we looked we couldnt see him, turned our he had jumped into the laundry basket and hidden under some towels.

A few weeks ago, I kept losing 7yo DS in the house. He and DD like to play hide & seek so I looked in all the usual places: in his cupboard, under his duvet, behind the door etc., start to get scared when I couldn't find him anywhere and then he'd suddenly appear. It took me a couple of weeks to discover the den that he'd made for himself in a corner between a table and the airing rack. He'd discovered this little spot and was happily playing with Lego and writing stories free from interference from his little sister!

shydaylily · 08/03/2017 10:05

My son used to hide his drinks bottles behind the sofa, we would usually discover them when they started to get smelly!!

janeyf1 · 08/03/2017 10:06

My DC loves playing 'hide and seek' and likes to find dark corners in wardrobes and cupboards - especially when it is time to go to school!

MrsDramaQueen · 08/03/2017 10:13

My DS is always hiding things. His tv remote is usually under his mattress of his top bunk and I've also found rocks in his pillow case. He would have been sleeping on them all night.

ninamotylinski · 08/03/2017 10:26

Once my daughter helped unpack the shopping when she was a toddler and I was very amused to find a frozen box of Durex in the freezer a few days later!

123hartley123 · 08/03/2017 10:59

in the linen basket

amyhalliday1 · 08/03/2017 11:38

He tries to get in the dog basket all the time 😂😂

queenoftheschoolrun · 08/03/2017 11:43

The current hiding place is about 20 feet up a tree which would be great if she and her friends could keep quiet up there but their laughing and shrieking tends to give the game away!

shroney · 08/03/2017 11:49

my two lay flat on our dining room chairs whilst they are tucked under the dining room table. Their friends get really frustrated as they can never find them!
