In honour of Cadbury launching their biggest ever advent calendar, Cadbury would like to know what gets you and your family into the Christmas spirit in the countdown to Christmas.

Here's what they say "This year we’re launching Cadbury’s biggest ever advent calendar and setting out to bring even more joy to the countdown this Christmas. 24 trucks, 24 doors, opening daily in 24 different locations, we’reringing joyful festive surprises to the nation on the countdown to Christmas. While we’re counting down, we’re also keen to hear from Mumsnetters about what you and your families do in the countdown before Christmas"

Find out about the Cadbury advent calendar by watching the video below:

So, what traditions do you and your family have to get that Christmas feeling? Do you spend an evening putting up a Christmas tree? Maybe decorating Christmas cookies is your favourite family activity? Or perhaps you all gather around the TV to watch a particular Christmas movie?

Whatever your pre-Christmas traditions are, Cadbury would love to know.

Everyone who posts a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £200 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

Visiting a panto in the build up to Xmas

When I was young our tradition was to get in the car with Dad, play Christmas songs, and go round delivering all the cards that were going to friends in the town. Always the same houses, and we would get a look at some of the ones that always had good decs. I try to get the kids to deliver cards with me now but they get bored after a while!

Dad also used to take us up to London just before or after Christmas to see the Regent Street/ Oxford Street lights, and maybe visit Hamleys. I hope to do this with the kids when they are older. I might miss out the bit where we got wheel clamped in Soho Square and Dad left us there in the car while he travelled by tube across London to pay the fine.

Every Christmas Eve we let the Children open their new pyjamas and then we all settle down and watch Christmas Vacation, feels really festive and kids love it.

As soon as 6th November hits (after bonfire night) I start my Christmas shopping that day!! I play Christmas music in the house and me and my daughter hum Christmas songs before bed time!! Its a magical time so we make sure it lasts as long as possible!!

bluearmy35 · 18/11/2015 10:44

we always have some mulled wine on xmas ever, and hang the stockings up on each boys door, before leaving the reindeer food out and a glass of whisky or milk and some cookies for santa

We up the tree on the 1st of December, and we watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, we've done that every year since I was a little girl, my husband now has to endure it !!

sammylea80 · 18/11/2015 11:13

we love to visit the christmas markets and have hot chocolate whilst walking around. Roasted chestnuts are also a must

pockledigg · 18/11/2015 11:52

Dressing the dogs up as elves. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a houseful of irritated dogs sporting hats!

chrismse · 18/11/2015 11:54

We always go into London and see the lights and all the fabulous window displays. Then we go to Harrods and have a £5 budget to buy a cake or chocolate (just for the bag mostly lol).

julieef · 18/11/2015 12:17

I get my grandchildren to help me decorate the Disney Christmas tree in the conservatory, then we put the Polar Express train around it, we put out all the musical toys, and they help put out all the sweets and chocolates

southernsun · 18/11/2015 12:24

On the last sunday of Novemeber we watch Home Alone while eating breakfast then put up the tree and decorations while blasting out Christmas songs and then start watching Home Alone 2. Always gets us feeling festive.

jandoc · 18/11/2015 12:30

we don't really have any

lolamia91 · 18/11/2015 12:34

It's all about the Christmas jumpers and Christmas pjs in our house x

tabbaz123 · 18/11/2015 12:35

We have Advent Calanders (even the big kids amongst us ) We love going shopping as a family and if we get the opportunity going to London to see the lights and get in the Christmas spirit. Liberty, Harrods and Fortnum and Mason have wonderful Christmas shops.

wendybrown · 18/11/2015 12:53

the annual list of gifts... gets longer every year :)

wanderings · 18/11/2015 13:07

When presents are wrapped, the gift's recipient is welcome to be in the room, but they have to be blindfolded. Some family members like this, others think it's the silliest thing ever.

BL0SS0M · 18/11/2015 13:09

so many! we all decorate the christmas tree together and have a xmas movie night each week! we try to have a craft day and invite friends and get the kids to make christmas paper stars for the window and have mince pies and mulled wine! lol like a kids christmas party but a great way to catch up with everyone over the xmas period! then on christmas eve we arrange to meet up with whoever is free at the ice rink, which is always empty, it's like having our own private ice rink! again to catch up with family and friends and also to tire out the little ones!

oliveoyl72 · 18/11/2015 13:20

Grow our own Christmas dinner on the allotment (apart from the meat).

cybermaz · 18/11/2015 13:20

putting up the decorations and tree with the kids :D

littleme96 · 18/11/2015 13:25

We go to a local Christmas fair at a farm and then when we get home we put up our decorations with Christmas music on loud in the background.

We have an activity advent calendar where we have things to do throughout the lead up, sometimes just as simple as watching a festive film or making paper chains.

Our house is visited by a Christmas Elf who gets up to all sorts of mischief such as gift wrapping the TV or sliding down the bannister.

On Christmas Eve we track Santa, bake something for him to have as a treat and then after tea when it's dark we go on a walk to see if we can spot Santa's sleigh in the sky. When we think we see it, we rush home for a bath and a bedtime story of "The Night before Christmas".

seeingdouble2 · 18/11/2015 13:43

we make paper chains in bright christmas colours every year. I love home made things.

mooota1514 · 18/11/2015 13:46

From this year onwards our tradition will be going to the pantomime with nanny! Dd is nearly 2 so she was too young last year. I think she still.might be a bit young but nanny is determined! We've also got a lovely new advent calender this year so I can fill it with sweets and toys for us all to share. My mum brought it for us which is lovely smile
