McCain has asked us to find out what Mumsnetters’ favourite family teatime meal is.

Here’s what they say, “5th October sees the launch of the Nation’s Teatimes campaign by McCain, which sees the brand turn real families into teatime TV stars. McCain is asking real families from across the UK to share real life video clips of themselves enjoying their tea on their dedicated hub www.mccainteatime.co.uk. From Monday to Thursday, the family videos from across the country will be edited against the clock into a McCain ’Teatime Today' advert and aired on ITV later that same evening at 8.45pm during a teatime ad-break.”

Whether you eat tea around the table or tucked up on the sofa, from the hectic to the calm, to over in a flash, no matter what teatime is like in your house there is always good stuff happening and it's where some great family moments take place.

So, what’s your favourite family teatime meal? Maybe you love your family pizza evenings when everyone helps to add their own toppings? Do you have a great beef casserole that everyone enjoys? Or is just beans on toast that the family love?! Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

Microwaved Fish & Chips is what we love - and yes I did say microwaved - we have a special microwave oven which has both microwaves, halogen lights on top and a special metal plate that you preheat.

It is such an amazing time saver - you basically preheat the metal dish, then we get frozen oven chips and weigh them, and then add some breaded fish which is also frozen and enter the total weight - the mircowave then works out how long to cook everything for based on the weight

within 15 minutes you have fish and chips that tastes awesome. So much quicker and easier then heating up an oven and having to keep a close eye on everything.

After doing a bootcamp at the gym I've decided to keep up with the 'clean eating' and stumbled across a recipe for home made baked beans. Eyebrows were raised I mean they are easy enough already what's to change? But my clean home made ones have just 5 ingredients and I know what they are, they have a tiiiiny bit of sugar in but I know what it is and how much, take the same amount of time to make and in my opinion they taste sooo much better than out of a tin. Best of all DH hasn't complained about them and DD loves 'mummy's special baked beans'. So those on wholemeal toast and a poached egg ontop is a favourite now, especially when we are pushed for tim and need a quick tea

Char-grilled lamb chops, lamb chops more lamb chops! With home made bread or chips and some feta cheese and lots of cucumbers for my youngest ones. The rest of us prefer tomato salad. Curried lamb chops are a close second Grin

Our favourite family meal is a healthy home-made chicken kebab with rice!

Grilled chicken breast pieces on skewers with mixed peppers and red onion, served on a bed of rice with a splash of lime and a sprinkle of fresh coriander!

All 3 of us love it! Nothing better than cooking together as a family. Kids really enjoy making (and eating!) the brightly coloured skewers!

Meal times are always around the dining table in our house with a strict no TV policy! My Step-son is learning table manners at the moment - Mouth closed when chewing, no talking with food in your mouth etc.

angiehoggett · 15/10/2015 13:14

homemade Lasagne and garlic bread

EasterRobin · 15/10/2015 13:38

My DD is 9 months old and hubby doesn't like to eat baby-ish food, but everyone will happily eat baked salmon (yum!)

bettythebuilder · 15/10/2015 13:58

My favourite is chicken coconut curry, but as dd isn't quite so keen on spicy foods, as a family we love a roast- slow cooked pork or chicken. Another favourite which reminds me of my childhood in Germany is pork schnitzel with chips and veg. The added bonus is that I'm teaching my soon-to-be-teen to cook, so she makes the schnitzels and helps me shallow fry them :-)

eloisemummy · 15/10/2015 18:41

Bbq chicken fajitas with corn on the cob are a favourite with the kids

SaltySeaBird · 15/10/2015 18:55

There are too many to list really! I think a summer BBQ is probably a favourite but then we all sit down and eat plenty of other things together. Bangers and mash is one of my husband and daughter's favourites. Spag Bol is also up there!

strawberrisc · 15/10/2015 19:09

Call us old fashioned but my Mum's recipe fish pie with peas, parsley sauce, boiled egg slices and mash!

HelenSw4les · 15/10/2015 20:14

Our favourite family meal is sausages, chips and beans. It's so good we have it every Saturday and never get bored of it.

Bellebella · 15/10/2015 20:43

We like sausages, mash, veg and gravy in our house. Always goes down well.

On Saturday, it's treat night and everyone looks forward to that. Could be fish and chips, fakeaway Chinese, hamburgers etc. We look forward to a treat and then watching strictly.

Natasha7 · 15/10/2015 20:49

Pasta, fish fingers and baked beans, especially when Dad is cooking.

Cocacolaandchocolate · 15/10/2015 21:04

Sausage and mash, or Pie and mash!!
My family just love meat potatoes veg. Good home cooked food.??

Cosmia · 15/10/2015 21:07

Fried eggs, fried tomatoes and microwave chips al with lashings of ketchup. The whole family loves it because it is utterly delicious and can be on the table in less than 5 minutes.

ThreeSpike · 15/10/2015 23:39

Steak, chips and salad. Delicious.

fifimummy · 16/10/2015 08:40

Foolproof dinner that everyone will eat and enjoy is personalised pizzas :D
Make a really simple pizza base dough, and add whatever toppings you want xxx Then with some dough that you saved back, mould the first letter of the childs/grown ups name and place it on top xxx
Kids love getting their own ready and gobble them up x

SuzCG · 16/10/2015 09:55

This time of year it has to be sausage, mash, plenty veggies and lashings of onion & mushroom gravy - yum!
