We’ve been asked by the team at LEGO® to find out about our Mumsnetters’ favourite treats and rewards from their childhood.

What sort of treats and rewards did you get during your childhood? Maybe you were given a chocolate bar for good school work? Or perhaps you received small toys as a reward for good behaviour? If you were a child today, what would be your ideal treat or reward? Perhaps it didn’t even exist when you were a child?

Either way, whatever childhood treats and rewards you loved before or would love now, LEGO® would like to hear about them!

Please share your thoughts on this thread and be in with the chance to win a £300 Love2Shop Voucher. Every MNer who posts a comment will be entered into the prize draw where one MNer will win the £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

The only ' treats ' I can remember receiving as a child were Fish'n'Chips from the Chippy ! And at Christmas the ever-present Quality Street :)

jt75 · 02/08/2015 19:15

Being taken out for a meal.

mave · 02/08/2015 19:16

leannemoore · 02/08/2015 19:16

My favourite treat rom my childhood is when my grandad bought me a bag of fudge I loved it

JoGibbons · 02/08/2015 19:18

When we used to go to France on holiday, a real treat was an Orangina or some Appletise to drink. I still buy Appletise or shloer as a treat for the family now.

Madwuman · 02/08/2015 19:18

My Grandad used to take us long walks every Sunday. We would get Lemonade and a Jam Sandwich half way, what a great experience :D

hannonle · 02/08/2015 19:20

I don't remember a lot of my childhood, but when I was about 12 I got a Kirby Pinball Gameboy game for having my teeth taken out at the dentist. I always remember that!

AnimalAddict · 02/08/2015 19:21

If I was very good during the week I got to pick a film from the video shop on a Friday! I always loved going there because there was so many choices and if I was lucky I'd be treated to some tasty treats there too :D

Little Disney ornaments to display in my bedroom were my best rewards. Lady & The Tramp being my favourites, with Bambi a close second. I love them still & even today I wouldn't say no to being given more as I understand they are now collectables.

Cailin7 · 02/08/2015 19:22

jelly and ice cream or a comic were favourite treats as a child. Now a good book and chocolate

jeannie404 · 02/08/2015 19:23

Rich Tea Biscuits- times were hard! :)

KandSWh · 02/08/2015 19:24

We were rewarded with comics or sweets, baking or a day out if it was something really big!

jcyclops · 02/08/2015 19:26

My favourite little treat was a bag of Jelly Tots - you can still get them Grin.
For a bigger reward I always loved a Thomas The Tank Engine book.

Chellemum78 · 02/08/2015 19:28

My treat was a packet if chewitts or a 10p mix

hdh747 · 02/08/2015 19:33

Sherbert dib dabs or rainbow drops were a real treat. Once in a blue moon there might be a trip to the cinema or an outing to the park - and a real treat would be a ride on the miniature railway and an ice cream.

prwilson · 02/08/2015 19:36

Going to the cinema, ice cream, sweets - not necessarily in that order.

maryandbuzz1 · 02/08/2015 19:37

Has to be a penny bar of chocolate but I also loved an iced buns.

wobblywindows · 02/08/2015 19:42

I received a tiny gold charm for each A grade I got in my O levels (it was harder to get top grade in those days) and I occasionally had small pieces for my dolls house, but not often.

ElectroNymph · 02/08/2015 19:45

Crisps, always been obsessed with crisps. We were hardly ever allowed fizzy drinks, so they were a treat too! I still have no fillings either.

inspiron42 · 02/08/2015 19:53

Airfix etc model kits

cluckyhen · 02/08/2015 19:53

I rarely got a treat or reward as my step father was extremely strict - but my gran used to sneak my a wagon wheel when I saw her...I'm sure they were much bigger than they are now.

If I was extremely lucky too my mum would treat me to a McD's on a weekend if we had to go shopping

mother1sal · 02/08/2015 19:56

A lucky dip bag containing sweets stickers and bracelets and other goodies or I used to get a chocolate dip with the little sticks and chocolate on the otherside

wendybrown · 02/08/2015 19:59

we used to go swimming every tuesday night at our local pool. after our swim, we would go to our local sweet store and buy 2oz of cola cubes with our bus fare home. the walk home was long, but the cola cubes were worth it!

pixiedust1 · 02/08/2015 20:00

Our treat was a whipped ice-cream in the summertime - delicious! and 10p mix-up Smile
When I was older I loved getting coloured pens and stationary (I still do!)

WarmHugs · 02/08/2015 20:01

We used to get a 10p mix on Friday, back when sweets were 1/2p each! Those 20 sweets would last me all weekend!
