Nurofen for Children have asked us to find out which special privileges and treats you use to distract your DC when they’re under the weather.

Here’s what Nurofen for Children have to say: “Our research shows that a quarter of parents find the health of their child the most difficult subject to make decisions on. As parents, you want health advice you can trust. Nurofen for Children is trusted by parents - 9/10 parents who used it would recommend it to a friend*. If your child is struck down with cold, pain or fever, Nurofen for Children offers products to help manage their symptoms. It starts to work in just 15 minutes to bring down a temperature and is clinically proven to last longer than paracetemol to relieve a fever.”

So, what do you let your DC's get away with when they're feeling under the weather? For example, are they allowed to watch TV or play with consoles for longer? Or are they allowed to eat as many sugary snacks as they like? Do you have any special games or inspired tips to keep them entertained when they're poorly?

Tell us how you spoil your kids when they're poorly and you'll be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

We make the sofa downstairs into a bed, and just snuggle for the day with a video

fazkin · 05/03/2015 19:38

They get longer screen time and get to be fussy with their foods. They also get few more bedtime books to be read to them

Minnibix · 05/03/2015 19:57

When my little ones are unwell they are allowed to stay in their pj's on the sofa with their choice of dvds, and they are allowed to choose what they want to eat for dinner

MissPoppins · 05/03/2015 20:04

Having ice cream for breakfast!

lukkilu · 05/03/2015 20:08

Well, we all know a child wants their mum when they're unwell so that's what they get. Me, running around giving them more or less what they want. Trying to feed them the right foods to make them better, snuggles on the sofa with our duvets, hot chocolate or (cooled) boiled juice or pop, movies. When a child is ill, that's the perfect time to take it all in, remember that's what being a parent is about, and enjoy them sitting still for a little while ;)

Portabella24 · 05/03/2015 20:12

Duvet on sofa in front of tv, snuggling up in my bed and total charge of the remote control. Lots and lots of tlc

YerTiz · 05/03/2015 20:15

Yes like many - resting on the sofa watching telly, staying in pjs, blanket/duvet, comfort food (not necessarily sugary though - except warm ribena, I love that when I'm poorly too). Lots of cuddles.

I have fond memories of my mum looking after me in this way, so I do the same for mine.

JWalker23 · 05/03/2015 20:36

A nice [sugary] Fruit juice and a hand full of chocolate biscuits (and at the same time, if he wants) LOL

FrenchieMum2Be · 05/03/2015 20:50

When she's poorly I let my DD be in her PJs all day eating comfort food as opposed to the usual balanced family meals. We also indulge in a cuddle nap in my big bed, it's so nice

winkymcwinkle · 05/03/2015 20:57

Lots!

She can come into our bed, have a duvet on the sofa, stay in pjs all day, eat on the sofa.

As much as I hate her to be poorly, I do love the snuggles and 'need' others have talked about.

kohsamui14 · 05/03/2015 21:01

warm drinks, duvets and disney dvds... and their favourite story Dr Catz...

sl31 · 05/03/2015 21:10

Disney films always go down well

mamof3boys · 05/03/2015 21:19

My children get to play on their consoles a lot more than they usually do, and I find it really helps as it takes their minds off their illness. They also get to eat their food in bed, or on the sofa, when they would normally have to sit at the table.

Ryancrawshaw · 05/03/2015 21:19

any food really for dinner, as i have it in my head anything is better than nothing !

CliveCussler · 05/03/2015 21:24

Dd has been off sick today, she was allowed to watch back to back videos and have her tea on the couch under the duvet.

maxxximus · 05/03/2015 21:46

Hot water bottle , jim jams and watch dvds on ipad

kirstycooper01 · 05/03/2015 22:00

Duvet day on sofa with Frozen on repeat!! ;-)

buckley1983 · 05/03/2015 22:02

It's a PJ day for everyone! Loads of snuggling in bed, or on the sofa under the duvet. Little one chooses the viewing for the day - be it 'Boxtrolls' or back-to-back 'Peppa Pig' - when he's poorly, whatever distracts him! We have a few treats & generally make a fuss of him. Ice lollies for poorly throats & hot baths together to steam out the mucus when he has a cold. There's some mummy magic for any ailment!

DawnieAdams · 05/03/2015 22:06

He is allowed a Duvet Day on the Sofa, and allowed to eat whilst on the Sofa.

chezvic · 05/03/2015 22:10

We usually have lots more cuddles and snuggles on the couch, also the chocolate drawer gets opened more often. If she's very ill, say chickenpox which she got last year, a new toy or dress is usually purchased.

HelenSw4les · 05/03/2015 22:15

I don't think it's really possible to spoil your children when they're unwell, however, saying that, I do let them come into our bed when they're poorly and they have more treats than usual.

kpdchudleigh · 05/03/2015 22:29

My Mum always used to buy me a comic and a famous energy drink when I was poorly so I still buy a comic for my kids when they're under the weather although tend to stick to plenty of healthy water for rehydration.

Blondie1982 · 05/03/2015 22:29

Duvet day!

knitnut24 · 05/03/2015 22:39

stay in bed 'til lunchtime then get up and curl up on the settee and we watch tv.

lphillips25 · 05/03/2015 22:41

I let them have cheeky sweets to perk them up a bit lol xx
