Nurofen for Children have asked us to find out which special privileges and treats you use to distract your DC when they’re under the weather.

Here’s what Nurofen for Children have to say: “Our research shows that a quarter of parents find the health of their child the most difficult subject to make decisions on. As parents, you want health advice you can trust. Nurofen for Children is trusted by parents - 9/10 parents who used it would recommend it to a friend*. If your child is struck down with cold, pain or fever, Nurofen for Children offers products to help manage their symptoms. It starts to work in just 15 minutes to bring down a temperature and is clinically proven to last longer than paracetemol to relieve a fever.”

So, what do you let your DC's get away with when they're feeling under the weather? For example, are they allowed to watch TV or play with consoles for longer? Or are they allowed to eat as many sugary snacks as they like? Do you have any special games or inspired tips to keep them entertained when they're poorly?

Tell us how you spoil your kids when they're poorly and you'll be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

let them watch a film of their choice

Gorillagram · 04/03/2015 14:59

Never to ill to cuddle up with his favourite blanket and a Gingerbread Man

zeenie · 04/03/2015 15:56

my son gets away with with pretty much anything when hes poorly and he know it!

sarah3875 · 04/03/2015 16:11

I'd say the first thing I spoil them with is my time. I will save my sick days for the kids and always take the day off if they are poorly. They are defo allowed to watch more telly if they are poorly but no way are they allowed to eat rubbish if they are feeling unwell. Maybe if they had a nasty cut or broke something I suppose.

beautifulsimplicity · 04/03/2015 16:55

we spend the day snuggled up, they do get treats like extended time watching tv/films. maybe even a treat of a new app or film

stewbidd · 04/03/2015 17:01

Pretty much let them do what they want when there ill which normally means wrapped up under the duvet watching cartoons while i wait on them hand and foot

Stash01 · 04/03/2015 17:05

I give them hot milk with honey if they have a cold

AndThisIsTrue · 04/03/2015 17:08

Lots and lots of Peppa Pig...

Lilliana · 04/03/2015 17:39

Far too much TV - at the moment it is peppa pig and chuggington. I let them eat what they fancy but not sweets or chocolate (that is saved for me once they have finally gone to sleepWink) and generally settle down for a day in curled up on the sofa playing/watching whatever DD wants.

paulinecnd · 04/03/2015 17:49

Let them watch children's TV or DVD's which are usually only allowed on rare occasions.

hughese · 04/03/2015 19:03

Certainly more TV watching allowed when sick, but also some quiet time in bed, maybe with a book.

Cward5544 · 04/03/2015 19:53

Bring their quilt downstairs to snuggle

Kandboys · 04/03/2015 20:10

We don't really do much spoiling when they are poorly as it is all about making them as comfortable as possible. They normally either stay in bed or they bring their duvets down and snuggle on the sofa

MuzzysMum · 04/03/2015 20:19

I usually let my son play longer on his beloved PS3 games system - Seems to take his mind off whatever ails him anyway!

Notch1 · 04/03/2015 20:24

In our house we have labrador therapy!

If anyone is poorly or just sad then we get our dog. Playing with her takes their minds off feeling rough. We had labrador therapy at midnight last night for my 7 month old DS who was teething while we waited for the medicine to kick in!

monksmum1 · 04/03/2015 20:42

They can stay in their pyjamas, I bring their duvet downstairs and let them lie on the sofa watching tv and being read to. And I try to make the most of them wanting to spend the day cuddling me :)

compy99 · 04/03/2015 21:32

relax the rules and just spend as much time as possible with them and a few a few treats to cheer them up.

angiehoggett · 04/03/2015 21:40

They get hot chocolate with marshmallows and I let them have extra treats than normal!

nbrad1234 · 04/03/2015 22:15

My kids don't get away with anything when they are sick. I think it important that they stay in bed and rest. No tv or games.

Gilla01 · 04/03/2015 22:19

They snuggle on the sofa with a duvet and soft toys and watch whatever they fancy on tv - or I read to them. Mum always gave me lucozade, so I bring that out whenever anyone feels poorly as well.

marymod · 04/03/2015 22:28

With illness, then a day on the sofa or bed is fine, but no special treats - sugary food or drink is not going to help them get better. Having said that, lots of cuddles and love always helps with recovery and of course their favourite meal is always called for.

jodandrob · 04/03/2015 22:31

I have really bad ocd so love the place tidy but when im ill i let them go wild and trash the place and thats thinks its great.

kimmy3931 · 04/03/2015 22:54

Hot Ribeana drinks, chocolate their favourite DVDs and lots cuddles

penelopa024 · 04/03/2015 23:19

I let my children choose the dinner ( usually end up making pancakes ) , we watch a nice movie , and they can have a bath with extra bubbles and toys :0

boo2410 · 04/03/2015 23:39

When DS is unwell I bring pillows, cushions and duvet down and make a snugglebug on the settee, then after dosing him up with Nurofen he'll surf Sky for stuff to watch whilst I am his obedient slave making sure he is fed and watered, not too hot, not too cold, catering to his every whim like all good Mummys should. I will get him treats (a few biscuits and the obligatory ice cream) and of course he must have frothy hot chocolate too and its amazing the power that a chocolate flake has when dipped. Brings the colour right back to his cheeks!! Lots of cuddles too, he might be growing up but there's nothing like a big fat cuddle to make you feel better. Oh and I'll make him what HE wants for tea and will overlook the vegetables (but only for one day LOL). And if I'm really lucky I like might get 40 winks whilst he's watching something!!
