Nurofen for Children have asked us to find out which special privileges and treats you use to distract your DC when they’re under the weather.

Here’s what Nurofen for Children have to say: “Our research shows that a quarter of parents find the health of their child the most difficult subject to make decisions on. As parents, you want health advice you can trust. Nurofen for Children is trusted by parents - 9/10 parents who used it would recommend it to a friend*. If your child is struck down with cold, pain or fever, Nurofen for Children offers products to help manage their symptoms. It starts to work in just 15 minutes to bring down a temperature and is clinically proven to last longer than paracetemol to relieve a fever.”

So, what do you let your DC's get away with when they're feeling under the weather? For example, are they allowed to watch TV or play with consoles for longer? Or are they allowed to eat as many sugary snacks as they like? Do you have any special games or inspired tips to keep them entertained when they're poorly?

Tell us how you spoil your kids when they're poorly and you'll be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

Mine usually lie on the sofa all day, they get to watch whatever they want on the tv, they have plenty of drinks and any food that they want.

cheryl100 · 03/03/2015 20:16

I am so more lenient! I do everything for my son, from serving him his food (on the sofa eeek!) to allowing him to choose the tv programmes all day. Thats a mother's job though and I love it!

TwoLittleTerrors · 03/03/2015 20:52

I let mine watch TV all day. Basically does what she wants within reason.

Jillri · 03/03/2015 21:08

Mine get more TV and lots of cuddles. There is a point though when they are starting to get better when you have to start playing tough and get back to normal, this can be difficult!

HannahLI · 03/03/2015 21:31

Its so hard to get liquids in them when they are poorly, they usually have sugar free squash but when they are ill I spoil them with hot ribena. They are also allowed to bring their duvet and pillows downstairs and camp out in front of the TV.

greig23 · 03/03/2015 21:38

yes i spoil my kids when they are poorly, lots of films and sugary sweets on the sofa lol

staceyshoes · 03/03/2015 21:41

my daughter gets loads of cuddles when she is ill & to be honest I probably do have a tendency to get her whatever she wants (within reason) when she is ill as she is my baby & I hate to see her unwell!

pepicola3 · 03/03/2015 21:55

Snuggled up on the sofa in front of the TV

Doncal · 03/03/2015 21:55

Love lying on sofa watch cartoons all day when sick and getting looked after

ikkle87 · 03/03/2015 22:03

when my son is poorly its a great excuse for cuddles on the sofa under a big blanket watching his fave programmes and just chilling out. I don't give him extra treats but do let him have ice lollies if hes got a sore throat

oliveoyl72 · 03/03/2015 22:34

I used to buy the more expensive fruit so he thought he was getting a treat (raspberries etc. instead of apples), when it was a ruse to get more vitamins down him. Also, more puddings, but fruit based.

Also, make him a hot toddy - he thought he was getting a tot of whiskey, but as I boiled the whole mixture, the alcohol had gone, just left the taste.

He's too old to fall for any of that now.

sweir1 · 03/03/2015 23:06

More cuddles and TV/film watching,

Gill81uk · 03/03/2015 23:29

I let them lie on the sofa watching tv all day (probably because it's what I remember doing when I was ill!) I also let them eat (within reason!) what they fancy, so if they only thing they want for their lunch is a couple of biscuits then that's fine with me :D

daisydaisy75 · 04/03/2015 06:21

Staying in bed, reading, watching cartoons and getting medicine is crucial.

BeansInBoots · 04/03/2015 06:46

Two under two- illness means survival methods are needed!
Pjs for everyone, online shop, cbeebies all day and whatever food and drink I can get in them..

soozieee · 04/03/2015 07:07

Snuggles on the sofa with me and the dog (it's the only time the dog's allowed on the furniture) watching kids tv.

crystab · 04/03/2015 08:30

what are DC's ??

siane777 · 04/03/2015 08:43

I let my son eats whatever he wants when hes poorly, usually lots of ice cream!

Laineyflo · 04/03/2015 10:18

They stay in bed all day, watching films..whilst I generally wait on them hand and foot! Lots of homemade soup and hot drinks soon gets them on the road to recovery.

JenbobP · 04/03/2015 11:32

I let my wee ones pick and choose what they want to eat a little more than usual. They would get away with not finishing their main course where as usually that would be a strict no no especially where vegetables are concerned!

grannybiker · 04/03/2015 12:01

Staying in their PJs all day!

Lesevans6 · 04/03/2015 12:19

Cuddle on the sette.

tabbaz123 · 04/03/2015 12:33

Lots of TLC - Snuggles on the duvet, feel good children's films, nice little bits to eat and a cream filled hot chocolate

LizzieMMM · 04/03/2015 12:50

Butter and sugar is great for a sore throat (not very PC though)

mclarkie · 04/03/2015 13:08

We always give our kids Nurofen when they are ill, as we believe it gives the best pain relief every time, no fail.
