The team at Hobbycraft would like to hear about the Halloween arts and crafts activities you’ll be doing with your DCs this year.

Hobbycraft say “As parents ourselves we know what a challenge it can be to keep the kids entertained during the holidays and on a budget. So, for the sake of parents everywhere who are in need of inspiration, we’d love to know you’ll be making with the kids for Halloween”.

So, what crafty spooky Halloween projects will you be doing this year? Do your DCs dress up? And if they do, do you make their costumes? Maybe you paint their faces? Perhaps you bake Halloween treats together?
Whatever you and your DCs will be making this Halloween, Hobbycraft would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw, where three Mumsnetters will each receive a £100 Hobbycraft voucher.
Please note your comments may be included on Hobbycraft's social media channels, and possibly elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

We'll be making decorations again like last year as the kids loved it, and baking/decorating spooky biscuits

We will be making spiders out of pom poms, pipe cleaners and googly eyes. Nice and easy and no mess!

Gill81uk · 26/10/2014 13:57

We will making paper pumpkins. Orange paper circles with black shapes stuck onto them to make a face. Nice and simple for preschoolers :D

lilyloo · 26/10/2014 14:03

We will be dressing up to go trick or treating on Friday.
We will be making window decorations as we like to take part so the trick or treaters know to come to our house.
We are going to a country park tomorrow to take part in their pumpkin carving competition so looking for lots of tips there for our pumpkin.

purplevamp · 26/10/2014 16:05

We're going to Tully's Farm Spooktacular this year. We will also be carving, or attempting to carve a pumpkin this year.

blue25 · 26/10/2014 19:12

We always have a night before Halloween doing crafting and baking with scary music and films on the tele! The kids love making Halloween cards and decorations and I carve the pumpkin!

shellybops83 · 26/10/2014 19:14

We will be carving pumpkins, hanging some decorations and my daughter wants to make a fruit cocktail that looks like blood for us to drink Hmm

We will be trying to make worms out of jelly and some pom pom spiders to hang in the hall.
I used to hate Halloween, but now I have embraced it.

grannybiker · 26/10/2014 22:39

Any excuse to make bonfire toffee and offload some of the surplus apples from our trees for bobbing ;)

snowgal · 26/10/2014 23:10

We have a tots Halloween party to tho to on Friday so will be busy making a tiger costume for a two year old this week. Still undecided what the one year old will be dressed in/as. Hoping do some jack o lanterns potato stamping with the pair of them, have promised to do a pumpkin/squash carving with the eldest. Some toilet roll crafts (making them into bats/owls/yet more tigers - Pinterest really is amazing!). And some food stuff for Friday for two parties - pretzel broomsticks, meringue ghosts, mini toffee apples, grape caterpillars... Seems I'm going to have a busy week :)

georgiebrown0 · 27/10/2014 06:13

jennywren7 · 27/10/2014 09:14

We always go to the craft event at our local library, where the kids get to make spooky things. Then on Halloween we go trick or treating around our road, the residents of which are invited to put up No Thankyou signs if they don't want the kids to call.

OhSoVintage · 27/10/2014 10:12

Pumpkin carving is always the highlight with the designs getting more elaborate over the years :)

You're not going overboard this year and my DD isn't even 1 yet. We're doing face painting and finger painting mainly using orange!

roar349 · 27/10/2014 12:33

We'll do the usual pumpkin (using the flesh for cupcakes and roasting the seeds) and maybe make some spooky spiders

NelAllan · 27/10/2014 17:06

We will of course be pumpkin carving and we are also going to make spookily shaped biscuits and decorate them with terrifying icing. The boys are planning to make Halloween themed hama bead creations to stick on the windows and I've downloaded some instructions to make Halloween models from lego too. I guess we will be busy this week. :D

carpathian · 27/10/2014 18:39

fairyprincess79 · 27/10/2014 21:54

We've already made a start with ghostly cups! A plastic cup hanging upside down from a string, covered in white tissue paper with some more tissue hanging from the bottom and a spooky face!

rjsmum11 · 27/10/2014 22:40

We will carve pumpkins and make cookies as well as lots of face painting!

fluffyblueberry · 27/10/2014 23:20
