Watch House of Cards Series 2 with Mumsnet and you could win an Xbox One (possible spoiler warning!)

After Mumsnetters enjoyed the first series so much, we’re excited to announce that the second series of House of Cards is the next show we’ll be watching and discussing on Watch with Mumsnet, in association with Netflix.

For those who’ve yet to succumb, award winning drama House of Cards follows cunning Congressman Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey) on his quest for power, aided by his equally conniving wife, Claire (Robin Wright). Both Season 1 & 2 are available to watch on Netflix instantly.

Here’s what Mumsnetters have been saying about the show so far:

"Best thing I've seen for ages”

"I haven't enjoyed a series so much since The West Wing"

“ I was a bit unsure about this as I loved the original but it is amazing! I watched the whole lot in a Netflix weekend mega marathon and I highly recommend it. I really hope they put out a second series, it is quality viewing”

If you've been wondering what to watch to get you through the dreary winter months then look no further. Better yet, you can watch it on Netflix whenever you want: binge on the whole series in one go or just catch it whenever's handy. And then, of course, you can come back and join the discussion on the show with everyone else on this thread. Everyone who takes part will be entered into a draw to win an Xbox One.

Whether you’ve watched the first series, or you’re new to House of Cards, we’d love to hear your thoughts.

Happy watching,
MNHQ

Ubik1 · 24/02/2014 10:27

The bodyguard thing - Dp and I both shouted out 'noooooooo' - hideous

Ubik1 · 24/02/2014 10:29

I thought season 2 was better - the focus on the White House was more interesting than the drippy journalists

tobiasfunke · 24/02/2014 11:15

Look could you stop with the spoilers please. Some of us aren't up to speed.

Ubik1 · 24/02/2014 11:20

I don't think there's any spoilers, is there?

LordPalmerston · 24/02/2014 12:14

Stop reading a thread about it then!

Llareggub · 24/02/2014 13:27

This is a pointless thread.

WHY can't we talk about series 2? It's so dull reading endless posts about how good it is without actually discussing what happens.

It's been

Ubik1 · 24/02/2014 13:29

exactly

LordPalmerston · 24/02/2014 13:34

yeah

will mail mnhq to get them to add spoiler warning

BobFlemming · 24/02/2014 20:55

[poss spoiler]

So, he doesn't actually have sex with Claire? And the 3 terminations she had, none were his and one was the photographer? Is that right?

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 25/02/2014 07:30

Just watched the first episode of Season 2. Was totally shocked and like PP had to rewind.

Am so tempted to binge on the rest of the season but DH wants to be sensible. Sigh.

I really enjoyed the relationship between Frank and Clare - you know when you read about these power couples; the rumours about infidelity, manipulation, power play.... and yet they stay together, this series shows how these partnerships might work.

They are both utterly ruthless, on the surface they love and respect each other yet underneath there is this toxic co-dependency.

I really hope there's a season 3..there must be with so much left unresolved.

TD1970 · 25/02/2014 15:39

We've lost weekends due to this excellent series.

WOW Grin All finished here, in my opinion Kevin Spacey is surreal. He was not one of my favourite actors but he is now! Totally steals the show ......
How can we wait until 2015 for Season 3?

NumptyNameChange · 26/02/2014 07:10

i am saving them up for a binge soon so am not reading people's posts as i don't want spoilers.

AntoinetteCosway · 26/02/2014 14:01

Oh my God that was good. Season 3 now please!

BrennanHasAMangina · 28/02/2014 02:30

Oh. My. God. Just watched Chapter 24 Shock Shock Shock. What the actual???

Ubik1 · 28/02/2014 09:37

I know Grin

The people complaining about spoilers have no idea how much we are NOT discussing on this thread Grin

Jux · 28/02/2014 10:55

Oh. I thought House of Cards was a BBC series from the 80s (?) about conniving MP played by the late much-lamented Ian Richardson, whose catchphrase was something like "You might say that. I couldn't possibly comment." Chilling, it was. And very very good.

Am I out of touch or what?Grin

Ubik1 · 28/02/2014 11:30

It is based on that series. Wasn't it a drama inspired by the last days of the Thatcher government?

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 28/02/2014 11:35

I've got the day off and I'm half way through Season 2.

Shall I bin off the house work and watch as many episodes as possible until the school run? Grin
