Watch House of Cards Series 2 with Mumsnet and you could win an Xbox One (possible spoiler warning!)

After Mumsnetters enjoyed the first series so much, we’re excited to announce that the second series of House of Cards is the next show we’ll be watching and discussing on Watch with Mumsnet, in association with Netflix.

For those who’ve yet to succumb, award winning drama House of Cards follows cunning Congressman Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey) on his quest for power, aided by his equally conniving wife, Claire (Robin Wright). Both Season 1 & 2 are available to watch on Netflix instantly.

Here’s what Mumsnetters have been saying about the show so far:

"Best thing I've seen for ages”

"I haven't enjoyed a series so much since The West Wing"

“ I was a bit unsure about this as I loved the original but it is amazing! I watched the whole lot in a Netflix weekend mega marathon and I highly recommend it. I really hope they put out a second series, it is quality viewing”

If you've been wondering what to watch to get you through the dreary winter months then look no further. Better yet, you can watch it on Netflix whenever you want: binge on the whole series in one go or just catch it whenever's handy. And then, of course, you can come back and join the discussion on the show with everyone else on this thread. Everyone who takes part will be entered into a draw to win an Xbox One.

Whether you’ve watched the first series, or you’re new to House of Cards, we’d love to hear your thoughts.

Happy watching,
MNHQ

Is no one finding the politics endlessly dull. Way too much on comparison to s1. Plus tusk feng etc

I love politics. Just this is dull.

The threesome! Oh my actual God that was a surprise! And a huge open ended thread at the end! I watched the entire second series in 2 nights and it has been responsible for some exhausted and shabby parenting ever since.

impatienceisavirtue · 20/02/2014 20:52

It is all getting a bit messy for Frank isn't it!

MrsLoada · 20/02/2014 21:40

Not seen this yet, looks like it's a must see from all the comments not sure how I've managed to miss it so far

Ilikepinkwine · 20/02/2014 21:50

House of Cards is very good, I'm enjoying it a lot but...I'm afraid I have been distracted by Breaking Bad! I didn't expect to like it but it's really, really good! Thanks Mumsnetters for the recommendation and Netflix for having it. We are loving Netflix this time round. I cancelled after the free trial last time because of rural broadband issues but got it sorted and am recommending Netflix to all my friends.

Now if I could just get DD1 out of her room...
:)

I loved Season 1 so have high hopes for this Smile I have almost watched all of S2 and it is brilliant yet again.

I loved the original HoC but Kevin Spacey is so diplomatic and devious he really steals the show.

Carriecakes · 20/02/2014 22:04

I love love love love Kevin Spacey! Only actor I can bear watching :-) I actually had to lol at GoEasyPuddings comment on giggling at Robin Wrights Far-Away dreamy look, me and hubby play drinking games with this! lol Brilliant so far!!!

Still recovering from the shock of episode 1. Looking forward to indulging in the rest of the season over the weekend as an alternative to endless rugby. Who would want to be a politician...

MrFMercury · 20/02/2014 22:54

Just finished season 2 tonight. Loved it, was totally shocked at least twice which is a rare thing on TV these days but I did find some of the politics difficult to follow.

Finished!
Still can't get the image of happenings from Chapter 24 out of my head...........
Little bit less in love with KevSpac now.

impatienceisavirtue · 22/02/2014 07:35

Watched episode 24 last night.

I knew they were manipulating him intosomething - that's what they do, after all - but I really did NOT see that one coming.

NowWhatIsit · 22/02/2014 19:51

Hooray we have upgraded and now Netflix actually works ! So exciting. Now I see what everyone's been on about.

Ubik1 · 22/02/2014 19:55

It is amazing but I really think it's Spacey that makes this something special.

TalkieToaster · 22/02/2014 21:40

I've just finished watching season 1 (and scrolled to the bottom of this thread very very quickly) and now I'm about to start the first episode of season 2. I can't believe how good this show is and how quickly it drew me in.

clangermum · 23/02/2014 13:53

Great opening. My only problem with watching this way is feeling we can't talk plot specifics because everyone's at different stages, whereas with weekly series I got used to logging on to discussions about previous night's episode, or stayed off if I'd recorded to watch later. I do love the control though.

I'd noticed the Claire gaze too. Did she suddenly decide against the big life changing step after seeing the news and realising what was behind the opening shocker? (See what I mean, trying to be vague enough not to spoil anything)

clangermum · 23/02/2014 13:55

I like the talking to camera too, and the 'did you think I'd forgotten you?'

Clayhead · 24/02/2014 08:39

Finished series two...loved it.

I am a HUGE fan of the original BBC version and I love the fact that I can see enough parallels to link the two together and yet the new version is still so original. Don't want to go into specifics now!

Bring on series three!

tobiasfunke · 24/02/2014 09:34

I don't really notice acting unless it's really bad. However last night when we were watching H of C Kevin Spacey gives the camera an almost imperceptible look when he was at a civil war reenactment and it was just so amazingly well done when it could've been so hammy.

pancakesfortea · 24/02/2014 09:43

OMG. Finished it last night. Episode 12 (or was it 11? With the bodyguard) went seriously weird! Loved it though. Will there be a series three?

TheChroniclesOfMeap · 24/02/2014 09:47

Absolutely loved this. Watched it in a couple of marathon sessions :) Don't want to add too much detail incase of spoilers. Waiting for the next episode of True Detective now and roll in series 3 :)

LordPalmerston · 24/02/2014 09:50

Several people in rl have said that two isnt as good as the first
Kevin spacey's magic typewriter being the most implausible but
also the presidents wife - surely someone as experienced as her would have seen through Claire at SOME point

LordPalmerston · 24/02/2014 09:51

plus the accident in ep 1
simply chalked up as suicide? nah
