Warner Brothers have asked us to find out what Mumsnetters and their DCs think of the trailer for the upcoming Lego Movie.

Here's what Warner Brothers have to say, "The LEGO® Movie is the first-ever, full-length LEGO® cinema adventure and is released on February 14th, perfectly timed for half term! The story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers, including many iconic characters such as Batman and Superman, on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared. The cast includes Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman and we'd love to know Mumsnetters' thoughts on the trailer.”

You can watch the trailer here.

So what did you think of the trailer? What are your thoughts on the characters and voice overs? What about your DCs? Which part of the trailer did you like the most? Do you think you’ll be likely to take your LOs to see the film when it’s released?

Whatever your thoughts, Warner Brothers would love to hear about them!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive £150 worth of cinema vouchers.

Please note your comments may be included on Warner Brothers' social media channels, and possibly elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

Just watched it with ds1 (11) and ds2 (9), they both loved the trailer. Liked the pace, the music, the humour - their one question? When's it out???
For my part I thought it worked well - looks like there'll be lots for adults too.

janx · 04/11/2013 19:51

So what did you think of the trailer? Fab an very funny Smile

What are your thoughts on the characters and voice overs? love the different characters and the voices

What about your DCs? Which part of the trailer did you like the most?
They liked the bit with batman

Do you think you’ll be likely to take your LOs to see the film when it’s released? yes we will be there

vestandknickers · 04/11/2013 19:56

Looks great and my children would go and see anything with the word Lego in the title but I wasn't sure about the very fast american dialogue and some of the references. They'd have no idea for example that $38 dollars is a lot for a coffee or who on earth Abraham Lincoln is. That said, we'll probably still go and see it.

supermariossister · 04/11/2013 19:58

ds has just watched it and said " im soooo gonna want that! look at all those superheroes" he is now sat next to me shouting "to the batmobile...darn it" he wants to know how you could possibly blow up an invisible jet and if the ninja turtles were in the crowd of superheroes. so safe to say he really liked it and will want to watch the film. the adverts shows all the things that are interesting to him like superheroes, busting things open and lego. he is most excited

BornToFolk · 04/11/2013 20:07

It looks good! It made me snigger several times. I especially liked "come with me if you want to not die". I'm not sure if DS (6) would find some of the humour a bit adult though and would probably miss some of the references. Having said that, I'm sure he'd enjoy the action and it looks as though it would be one of those films we'd really both enjoy. Oh, and it's got some great actors doing the voices, I love Will Ferrell and Will Arnett.

UniS · 04/11/2013 20:40

made me laugh, and then I went and watched all the other trailers for it too. Yep, I'll drag DS to watch this even if he is reluctant. He'll love it and I'll have a pleasant hour or so in the cinema giggling along .

sfancy · 04/11/2013 20:44

I think it looks good-we love lego!

10thingsihateaboutpoo · 04/11/2013 20:45

Looks good! The trailer was too fast paced for DD but it does look good. Hoping for some toy story jokes that go ovet the DC head too. There's something about lego animations that just make me smile :-)

AuntyEntropy · 04/11/2013 20:51

We're huge Lego fans in this house; we've got almost all the games, and we've seen and loved all the 4D movies at Legoland, so barring truly atrocious reviews we'll definitely be off to see this.

That said, this trailer didn't do as much for me as the previous one we saw in the cinema. It was all a bit confused, and I didn't love the jokes, apart from Abraham Lincoln, and the exploding invisible plane. I suspect the Matrix plotline will go over the DC's heads.

Still going to see it though. The quality control on Lego games and animations has been very good to date, so it seems like a safe bet.

VivaLeBeaver · 05/11/2013 06:36

Dd liked the trailer but didnt seem to fussed about seeing the film. I don't think the trailer focused on one particular bit to really work out what it was about, it was batman, then it was Abraham Lincoln, then robots. I was a bit underwhelmed but I guess I'm not the target audience.

whimsy · 05/11/2013 06:55

DS1 (10), DS2 (8) and DS3 (5) have just watched the clip and they all really want to see the film. They think It looks exciting, fun and to be honest they love anything lego related. The voice overs were good but they don't know who the actors are. We will be going to this.

clubnail · 05/11/2013 10:22

Looks fabulous, DS (age 3) will love it. He hasn't got any Lego yet, thinking this Christmas will be a god age to introduce it, then he'll be all ready for the February screenings. Lego, heroes - what's not to love!

Kipsy · 05/11/2013 12:43

We are a Lego-obsessed household. But this movie... meh. DH loves the "obscure guy turns into hero" type movies - but the execution of this in the movie would not appeal to adults.

DD is still quite young (5) and probably not the target audience (6+?) - she lost interest quite quickly while watching the trailer - possibly because it is so loud/intense/disjointed (in the manner of all trailers I suppose Grin) I also noticed the lack of female minifigures err characters. DD could not identify with Emmet much, as he is an adult male. Sometimes girls want to be the hero! Maybe a Lego Friends movie might appeal to her Hmm? Though I'd never get DH to come in a million years!

LentilAsAnything · 05/11/2013 19:57

I think my three-year-old will love the film, though I am not sure he'd sit thought it at the cinema. He loves fast-paced action stuff - current favourite is Cars. And he likes the merchandise related to films, and we haven't gotten him into Lego yet - probably going to get him something at Xmas to get started, so a few months' play and maybe it will make the film more special when he watches it.

kazzzyh · 06/11/2013 08:35

Just watched the trailer with my 7 year old Son, he said it looks "really good" and he wants to go and see it when it comes out.
I thought it looked quite entertaining and would take him to see it.

IncaAztec · 06/11/2013 13:30

So what did you think of the trailer? What are your thoughts on the characters and voice overs? What about your DCs? Which part of the trailer did you like the most? Do you think you’ll be likely to take your LOs to see the film when it’s released?

I enjoyed the trailor, voiceovers etc not too annoying (too many are too precocious in children's films if you ask me). My toddler pointed and shouted when she saw it. She likes lego and would probably want to go and see it. We might go and see it at a children's screening, not a regular screening as she is too young and wanders off every now and again.

I don't think we'll watch it in the cinema. I might get it on a DVD for my guys, once it's out. As much as we love Lego, the trailer didn't appeal to me. I'd be bored to death if I had to watch it personally. Probably not the answer Warner Bros wants to hear.

Hopezibah · 06/11/2013 20:47

So what did you think of the trailer? What are your thoughts on the characters and voice overs?

I liked the characters - I imagine the voice overs would seem weird on LEGO people but it did work ok.

What about your DCs?
They loved it as they love all things LEGO!

Which part of the trailer did you like the most?

I liked the overpriced coffee and the batman button scene.

Do you think you’ll be likely to take your LOs to see the film when it’s released?
Quite probably yes.

Elainey1609 · 07/11/2013 11:36

Well trailer didn't thrill me to be honest I really don't like the lego stuff find the animations so lacking.....voices sound to US aswell so change the voices abit people lol
however 6. Year old likes look of it, depends what is out at same time to be honest as to decide whether we go see it

heyday · 07/11/2013 13:03

It's a very typical fast paced, non stop talking American film. I love the figures. My grandson too young for this but the children I work with are 9 and I can image that they will love this film, especially the boys.

WibbleBoy · 07/11/2013 13:37

DS is a huge fan of lego and likes animated movies, but generally doesn't appreciate the nuances of a heavy plot (he much prefers visual antics to dialog). However, he liked the trailer; in particular the "First try" from Batman after missing several times, plus the exploding invisible plane (though he had no idea who the Wonder Woman character actually was).

I liked the fact that the characters all seemed to act much more like minifigures than in previous lego features such as Clutch Powers, which made the characters too flexible. Having them act much more rigid adds to their charm.

DS will probably ask to see it in the cinema, but this will likely hinge upon whether there is a cheaper matinee showing.

evelynj · 07/11/2013 14:33

We loved it! My 4 year old is very excited & we'll definitely go to see it.

His favourite part was the superheroes, esp batman. He couldn't believe it! I liked the singing & music.

katiesobol · 07/11/2013 18:03

My children are so excited about the Lego Movie - it is impossible to put it into words - in fact they don't use many words either - at least not ones in my range of hearing - lots of shrieking and squealing in excitement together with leaping and running and jumping and shouting - I can just about make out the words "this is going to be the BEST FILM EVER!" amongst their excited noise!
I must confess that I can't wait either - it looks amazing and funny. I love Morgan Freeman, who will be fantastic and Will Ferrell will be amazing too

Of all the films coming out next year - this will be top of our "to watch" list!

UniS · 07/11/2013 19:24

showed teh trailer to 7 year old son. He not a big fan of films, he is a big fan of lego. his reaction

Lego - wow, oh, a film...
I asked did he wantto go and see teh film?

I said we probadly would ( the 2 adults both want to see this film).
