Warner Brothers have asked us to find out what Mumsnetters and their DCs think of the trailer for the upcoming Lego Movie.

Here's what Warner Brothers have to say, "The LEGO® Movie is the first-ever, full-length LEGO® cinema adventure and is released on February 14th, perfectly timed for half term! The story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers, including many iconic characters such as Batman and Superman, on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared. The cast includes Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman and we'd love to know Mumsnetters' thoughts on the trailer.”

You can watch the trailer here.

So what did you think of the trailer? What are your thoughts on the characters and voice overs? What about your DCs? Which part of the trailer did you like the most? Do you think you’ll be likely to take your LOs to see the film when it’s released?

Whatever your thoughts, Warner Brothers would love to hear about them!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive £150 worth of cinema vouchers.

Please note your comments may be included on Warner Brothers' social media channels, and possibly elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

My little man isn't into lego yet and doesn't really get the whole super hero thing yet either (he's 3 and just gone onto the BEN 10 phase) however his eyes never left the screen when I played the trailer so goes to show it still appeals to those who don't 'do' lego yet. Great voice overs too... recognise many!

Im not sure if he'd watch it all the way through but I dare myself and DH will watch it haha. Im not sure its really a kids sort of story line?

WallyBantersJunkBox · 04/11/2013 11:24

Watched with my son who is 8 and a huge Lego fan.

We have talked about a new movie ever since Clutch Powers, who he is an avid fan of. We love the 4D movies shown at Legoland Günzberg when we go every year so this is long awaited in our family. When we saw the movie on Facebook we joined up for updates and watched the trailer last Thursday when it was posted there.

My son enjoys watching the films made on YouTube by Lego enthusiasts so this style of animation really grabbed him. The cast are very well known to most people at different ages and levels so it seems a good mix to me.

Chris Pratt was great in "Parks and Recreation" and along with Will Ferrell will add another level of comedy for the adult audience, which makes a huge difference to the family enjoyment of a movie. My son loved Megamind and his style of humour so will no doubt love his characterization in the Lego Movie.

Delighted to see other big names such as Liam Neeson too.

We've watched the clip a few more times over the weekend and my son is already reenacting some of the humour, and talking excitedly about the Superheroes and characters, and whether there will be a special Lego Minifigures collection for the film. He is already building a few of the scenes we saw.

So yes a long anticipated movie in this household, that doesn't look like it will disappoint from the trailer...the whole family is excited about it! Grin

I feel like we have been waiting for this film forever. If I have to sit through Clutch Powers one more time I will go crazy. Really looking forward to seeing this with my LEGO and animation mad boys. It's LEGO minifigures voiced by famous people - what could be better than that?

CMOTDibbler · 04/11/2013 12:23

My 7 year old would like it, and I think it would be funny enough for me to take him

parques · 04/11/2013 12:30

"Awesome!!!!" Ds2 aged 8 Grin

Kveta · 04/11/2013 13:54

That looks fantastic! I may have to fight DH over which of us gets to take 4yo DS (DD is too little for cinemas yet) :D

lynniep · 04/11/2013 14:34

I'm not hugely enamoured by it ( I find lego films vaguely amusing but mostly tiresome), but my DS(6) wants to see it. My other DS (3) is not bothered. However if its really long, he will probably lose interest. The voiceovers are irelevant to him and the dialogue will go over his head.

LittleAbruzzenBear · 04/11/2013 14:46

We have the Star Wars Lego films and we watched this trailer last week. DS1 is 5YO and very excited to see Batman and Superman in one trailer! I grew up with Lego and DS1 loves it so can't go wrong really. I prefer this kind of thing to schmaltzy kids films.

orangepudding · 04/11/2013 15:06

I am not showing this trailer to my five year old, otherwise I will hear 'is the lego film in the cinema yet' everyday until we take him. My son will love this film!

GuyAndStoic · 04/11/2013 15:13

I love it! DS and I havewatched the trailer almost everyday. I love the lego films though and the characters look fab. It'll be easy for DS to "act out" the film with his existing lego figures too.

We will def be going to watch it.

Probably twice.

iwanttoscream · 04/11/2013 15:24

Trailer, FAB. Will take my youngest two. Can't wait to see all those lego figures come alive.

Rockinhippy · 04/11/2013 15:25

Me -:

I found it quite irritating in a minecraft videos kind of way - something DD & her friends were obsessed with until quite recently - the voice overs remind me of that - some how the overly strong American superhero voice over just don't cut it for me, it's too OTT, but not in a way that works as funny, just irritating & like a poster above, I would rather stick pins in my eyes than waste time & money watching this at the cinema - maybe a bored afternoon with nothing better on TV & I might watch it as a throw away TV movie, but that's about it - sorry

Dictated by DD -:

I think its not really aimed at my age group, I'm 11 not 5, so I don't really have anything positive to say. i found the voice overs to be too patronising & overly happy, which I found annoying & it's just not the kind of movie I would ever chose to see, it looks too twee & a bit naff, maybe really little kids will like it though, but it's not going to be a classic like Toy Story or Nemo or something is it

Sorry Blush

iwanttoscream · 04/11/2013 15:29

The more we watch the trailer, the more we can't wait to see the film.
Lego-terrific !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

stealthsquiggle · 04/11/2013 15:40

That looks fun. I worry that all the best bits might be in the trailer, but if the timing is right (awkward half term) then I might well take the DC.

From the trailer, I think I like Batman and his bad pun best.

InvaderZim · 04/11/2013 16:11

The trailer is better than the one I saw before Monsters U a couple of months ago. Like all of the trailers we saw that day, this film is heavily boy-centric, with one main female character. I'm guessing this one isn't passing the bechdel test.

I could care less about famous people doing voice overs.

stephgr · 04/11/2013 16:34

It looks really entertaining and very well made. My son loves lego and is really keen to see the film so we will definitely be going. I really like the trailer and love the voiceovers. My daughter isn't into lego but she likes the trailer so we'll all be watching it. My husband has no interest which is probably a good thing because it means we won't have to listen to his snoring in the cinema.

theoriginalandbestrookie · 04/11/2013 16:45

DS age 7 thought the trailer was "cool and funny". We both liked the bit where the bad cop turned into the good cup then back again. If it gets good reviews then we will go.

NettleTea · 04/11/2013 16:53

Just watched it with DS
What do you think about it?
"GREAT"
do you like it?
"YEAAAAA... GREAT!!!"
what about the characters
"GREAT!!!!"
do you want to see it?
"YEAH!! Can we go now??"

he liked the bit where he sees Batman best, and the fact he says 'awesome' alot....

ladygoingGaga · 04/11/2013 17:25

Thanks lego, my DS aged 7 has just viewed the clip with me, he was utterly thrilled and excited, but then I told him it was February and he had a strop about it being ages away!

It is just his thing, batman will be a sure winner, I would actually enjoy it too as it looks like it has a level of humour for parents, like the Abraham Lincoln line. A also laughed when Batman was throwing stuff at the button, missing then when he hit it shouted 'first time'

I also liked Morgan Freeman's voice, but he seems to be playing a lot of godly figures these days Hmm
Will be a must see in our house, and as his birthday is the 13th of Feb it is great timing, in fact DS is now planning a lego party

firawla · 04/11/2013 17:28

I loved the trailer, I'm sure we will go and see this my 5 year old would love it and almost 4 yr old too. It looks funny and that it will appeal to both adults and children, im really interested to see the whole movie

SporkandFooon · 04/11/2013 18:19

Oh my goodness!! I cannot wait. DS9 and partner (35) are really excited too.
We love Lego.
The trailer does seem a little fast moving but to be honest, I think most children will just be so excited that there is a full length Lego film that they won't really listen to what's going on on the trailer.
It made me giggle :)
Looking forward to valentines day!

SolidGold · 04/11/2013 18:41

Watched the trailer, it's definitely not my sort of thing and I think a bit young for dd who is 12, but I think it looks great for probably 5 to 10 year olds.

It was a bit full on, couldn't pick out a bit I preferred.

PeppermintScreams · 04/11/2013 18:53

My five year old DS really liked the trailer and can't believe he has to wait until Febuary to see it! I also loved all the in jokes/quotes from other movies.

DTisMYdoctor · 04/11/2013 19:12

I've just watched this with DS (5) who was entranced and when he finished he begged to watch it again! 'Awesome' was his verdict overall and he thought some of the batman scenes were very funny.

We'll definitely go to see this - hopefully there will be enough amusing bits for the grown ups!

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 04/11/2013 19:12

I've just watched this with DS and he thinks it looks brilliant and wants to go and see it. He loves lego, so it was always going to be up his street. He recognised the voices from some of the other million other films that he likes to watch and thought they were funny.

To be honest, if it wasn't for lego mad DS, watching that trailer wouldn't make me want to take him to see it (although the batman bits made me smile). I just wasn't sure from it what the story was about. A lego man meets up with some other minifigures? I know the trailer isn't meant to give away the full film, but I don't feel any wiser after watching it than I was before.

Sure its going to do well as there are a lot of other children like mine out there who will get excited about the fact that it had a teenage mutant ninja turtle minifigure in it and miss the fact that they're not clear on the plot!
