Not really, although it has made me realise how much I stil have to do with my house!

I am halfway through redoing the kitchen. The units are fine but the doors were in a state so I bought replacement doors from B&Q (White country style if anyone cares!) and fitted them myself. I have a new housing for my Belfast sink which I am putting off doing as I have never had to do anything plumbing related before! I am using the internet to research the best way to fit it. I then need to replace the work surfaces, but I think that may be beyond my limited skills so have asked a friend who fits kitchens to quote me to do that and to fit my new tap which is a rather fabulous american style one with a hose thingy on it.
I find that doing a job a bit at a time makes it more manageable than tackling the whole room in one go. I painted the kitchen a few months ago, then had a break before doing the doors and then another break before I tackle the sink. I dont have the time or money to do it all in one go either.

I need new flooring and a shower in my bathroom and have seen some lovely ones but money is keeping me from doing it. I can afford the shower but not someone to fit it at the moment, will keep saving!

Oh blimey ... every piggin' room in my house needs a bit of TLC ... but if I could do absolutely anything it would be my kitchen!! I would LOVE to sand down the awful pine and paint it or whitewash it, I'm tempted to paint my feature wall lime green and put one of those motto's on it to inspire my 3 kids whilst they're having breakfast!! I desperately NEED some more stools for my breakfast bar ... the windowsil needs retiling and resealing, the windows need repainting, as do the walls and the door. The alcove where the cooker is needs repainting with heatproof paint and the stone surround needs freshening with some masonary paint ... did I mention that we need new lights in there .. possibly a new larder door .... £150 B&Q giftcard you say ... well I'll bejiggled that would start us off VERY nicely!! Fingers crossed

I think a lot of the revamps are lovely but not suited to where we live. One that really inspried me though was where the room looked so dark to begin with and was revamped to look realy bright!

We're currently revamping a 70 foot narrowboat that we live on. That means that so far we've built a wall and door through the living room to create a second bedroom and we have a lot more to do. So far we've managed to moor under cover so that we have a dry space for DIY which makes a massive difference! The downside was that pigeons pooed all over the boat because they'd been perched above!

We want to make what's left of the living room really cosy with hidden storage rather than keeping the awkward holiday boat-style furniture that's all far too small, as well as building a hinged bed with storage underneath (we're struggling to adjust to the smaller living space). We also need to revamp the very ugly bathroom which is covered in peeling lino with a floral print. The OH plans to tile it with colourful and mismatched tiles one day. It's going to be a big job but we're trying to make little jobs nice by doing them together, like a day at the market picking out curtain fabrics together, and involving friends and family in building and sewing jobs.

We're also moving, so some great inspiration here. Have two small children & no money, so it's fantastic to get some ideas that won't break the bank. Thanks!

I like gazzlaw's dark blue corner. We live in a vers small house and I have always been wary of using colout in it. I might consider it now to make a cosy corner

I didn't do a whole room but I did do a corner of my bedroom. It is at an L shape to the rest of the room and had just been a dumping ground. I wanted a job that meant working from home so I cleared it out, sanded and painted an old desk, bought a gorgeous turquoise lamp, some wicker baskets and jugs for storing thngs. Hey presto! Home office.

I would love to do our front room - mainly carpets, painting and sideboards instead of very childrenish toy storage. What holds me back is money.

I love ALL of these! My unloved room is the box room upstairs. At the moment it is the Place the Junk Goes and full of 400 tons of rubbish that I haven't yet recycled/sold for a fortune/given to charity but what I REALLY want to do is turn it into a Mummy's Den. Nice comfy chair. Books. Music. Sorted. Lock on the door would probably be good too otherwise I'll have about a nanosecond by myself in there before it becomes the new home hub. Taking the first step towards this idyllic state by getting central heating in there but am very worried that it will be heating in then do nothing for 10 years

I have sort of revamped two rooms recently - that is I painted them, after a lot of deliberation over colours, and then I got stuck and so I now have two rooms in search of furnishings, and one in search of a purpose, other than to be waked through on the way to somewhere else.

What's stopping me? I'm useless at DIY and anything more than the most basic painting scares me off as I am sure I will get it wrong, won't have the right tools, and won't even be able to work out which tools are the right tools when I go to the store. (Tools don't usually come with instructions and that makes me think they must be intended only for people who already know how to use them, then I am even more put off). I also find myself overwhelmed by choice when it comes to paint/paper, fabric etc. Since I don't plan to decorate very often I fret about making a choice I end up not being happy with.

Basically, the whole decorating thing stresses me out. Which is a pity since I moved in Feb and have all rooms to decorate, most with various flaws that go beyond the basic painting!

I'm currently making over my decidedly unloved garden and am slowly making a rockery on an old bit of concrete to hide it. Going to get some compost and flowers this weekend as I cleared the area of weeds this week. Hope the weather holds out!

They are all fab. Budget and time are the 2 biggest reasons for no revamping unloved rooms

Recently moved so most rooms have had a touch up, the Lounge was the biggest one. Took a week, could have done with longer but had a week between completion and moving date so rounded up some help and had a few late nights. Had to replace the 70's floral carpet, remove a brick fire surround that went across entire wall, remove wallpaper borders and paint.Tips ask for help, DH friend from work is very hand, also ask places for discounts, we went to local fireplace shop who did us a great deal on a marble surround and hearth as it was an unwanted order just sitting in the back.

Still got some rooms that need doing, the bathroom which is a bit dated and the playroom which was used as a utility could do with painting and new flooring to warm it up a bit. Biggest job is the garden, the patio area needs some love but time, money and know how is stopping us making a start.

I thought more could have been done for three hundred pounds, but i'm probably bitter about not being picked twice!

Having looked at the photos, I'm still not swayed by floral wallpaper feature walls, and not sure if the grey look either.
But I like the turquoise and white bedding with matching curtains, and I'm impressed with the revelation of the fireplace....well worth that mammoth effort!
In the gardens, I love the steps with pots on...that would be a fabulous space saving herb garden. And u really fancy a water feature, would be lovely on our patio.
We really need a new bathroom, bought our downstairs loo/sink from b&q and would happily buy a bathroom suite from there. Ours is shabby, the bath is so worn it is see-through in parts! The walls have tatty wooden cladding on, and the paint is peeling like it has sunburn! Might do it one day....

Love happyhippys wall colour on her room. We've just done our dining room in the past couple of weeks or so and chose a similar colour for it. Looking at all of the mners hard work makes me feel a combination of , motivated to do my own house and miserable at how desperate parts of my house are to redo.

We've repainted the kitchen and dining room this summer, and as I speak DH it laying lino down in the downstairs loo (I'm just listening out for swearing.....no signs yet so hopefully it's going well!). It's been DH and I (and DD age 2 'helping' ). We've only been able to do it at week ends and with a toddler it's taken alot longer, so we've been doing it for around 5 week ends. My top tip would be to get the rellies in to look after the DC so they don't get in the way.

I've made a start on stripping the hall wallpaper - but the walls are too high up the stairs (and a fear of heights doesn't help). I haven't worked out how to do that yet - I might have to resort to getting someone in to do the work for me.

My garden was reclaimed from the wilderness earlier this year (the plants and weeds were taller than me and covered the whole garden). Now I've just got to make it nice and keep back the weeds that are starting to grow again. Indoors - after the hallway - I've got the bathroom to focus on - from the leaking toilet to the half depth bath in a "lovely" green. Time, energy and money are keeping me from focussing on them although I will get there in the end. I know what I want to do with each of the rooms - it's just a case of getting it done which can be easier said than done when you have to do it all yourself.

At first, I didn?t even want to look at the lucky chosen few gardeners? revamps due to being in a very un-grown-up sulk at not winning the B&Q vouchers for my own fantastical shopping spree. For some ridiculous reason I?d convinced myself we were going to be able to turn the other half of our garden into a thing of beauty in a week rather than a year? to match the half we?ve spent two painstaking years transforming from a ?green carpet? to a colourful oasis. I have since recovered from my strop and looked at the great ?before and after pictures? that other Mumsnetters have displayed?and I now really, really want some raised planters, giant pots and fancy gravel to turn a dead patch of sun-starved lawn into a fun play area.

When we moved in to our new-build house two years ago, the garden really was just a ?green carpet?. We have dug borders, one at a time, and planted buddlea, bamboo, ferns, sunflowers, lavender and lots of colourful flowers (including old fashioned Geraniums to keep the cats away as apparently they don?t like the smell! ). We?ve made sure everything has different flowering times so we have all year round colour. The plants have all grown beautifully and we now have lots of height and colour, which we all enjoy as a family. The second half of the garden doesn?t get much sun and is a bit barren. We?ve planted some clematis but nothing else wants to grow there so have decided to turn it into a play area with some big plants and herbs around the edges.

We are still working on the barren half of the garden slowly but surely and it?s by no means unloved. It will take time though? and a lovely voucher from B&Q would really help to speed up completion of the project so we can enjoy it this year before the winter sets in.

Great to see what can be done with just some little changes. Like others above we are just about to move house and want to put our stamp on it. Most of the new house is fine but horrible bathroom and properly 1980s lime green swirly carpet on the stairs! Just love seeing what others can do to transform rooms.

There are so many snippets of inspiration - living rooms that look warm and welcoming due to lighting and lack of toys everywhere! Gardens that are neat and tidy with nice lawn edging.

I am in the process of stripping off the woodchip wallpaper in our bedroom, putting up lining paper and then finishing it off with coving. However, due to the chaos that is children on summer holidays, it's having to wait until I get a window of opportunity when ds2 starts nursery!

As above - waiting until children start school/nursery - time and motivation!!! Also unsure as to whether I have the necessary skills etc

They are all pretty inspiring. It just goes to show that a room can be transformed on a budget and gives me hope. The trick seems to be storage and a lack of clutter.

I'm going to transform DD's room next as it needs to change from a little girl's room to the room she will have until she leaves (could be many years). It will then become our spare room so needs to be done nicely and in a style that won't date too quickly.

I'm motivated by three raised beds and wildlife garden projects.

We've just bought a house that needs some tlc, both for the garden and the living room and kitchen. I don't have green fingers so the garden will be a challenge. I don't really know where to start, so that's holding me back at the moment.

my gosh we have so many disasterous rooms and we have totally run out of money to do anything.

Our room is a dingy fright, our bathroom is literally green and the tiles are climbing off the walls, the garden is awaiting a patio... the lounge is covered in children-sized fingerprints.
Urgh just really down on it all as the little bits that do get done, just make the undone bits look 63 times worse.

Haven't revamped a room ever.

What's stopping me? Lack of inspiration. No idea what i want to do or could do with the room, so it remains the same. Also outs never a tip priority. Actually I might check out pinterest for ideas.

I missed out on both of the B&Q testing things (I am not bitter MNHQ...oh no)

I applied both times and both times wanted to do my garden.

What this DID do was focus my attention in what I wanted to do and plan for if I was picked an also if I wasn't chosen...I wasn't sadly.

But I did do a small corner of my garden which was overgrown with weeds. I levelled it and then covered it with white/rose Cotswold stone. The I added some pretty pots and flowers...in fact I really like what Dointitourselves did with her pots, really liked that spiral and what was achieved. That has inspired me with the idea of adding design to the top of pots etc. Very pretty.
