Looking for experiences of The Haven online school

Hi, I’m considering this option for my DD as she has ASD and cannot attend school, has anyone got experience of this they would be happy to share?

my DD is 15 and honestly I feel totally lost. No school for 18 months. She does attend an AP one day a week but i don’t think it’s enough for her and she is very aimless. We tried increasing to two days but she found that too hard. So need to think more realistically.

she is year 11 but the way things are she might need to go back a year in terms of sitting actual exams, I can’t envision that for her in the near future.

it all feels a bit puzzled and lonely. No EHCP the council said they would not assess.

No personal experience, but it really depends on DD’s individual needs and the support she requires. Online provision works for some, but not others. For those where online provision works, the Haven set up works, but for others it doesn’t.

Are you appealing the refusal to assess?

If DD is unable to attend school, the LA has a duty to ensure she still receives a suitable full time education. 1 day at an AP isn’t that. I would go back to the LA to request they fulfil their duty. If they refuse, ignore or delay, you can post back here for the next steps.
