I'm new here. Myself and my son live in the west coast of Scotland and this year we are moving to Perthshire. Probably 5-10 mile radius. He is 25 with special needs. He is mild in his needs. He has a great sense of humour and would love to make new friends and share common interests. He loves his PS games, pationate about animals, loves the outdoors, photography and the list goes on. He would struggle with high functioning and seeks friendships with similar special needs as himself. He has Tuberous Sclerosis. I am moving for him so that he can shine. He is extremely polite and has a heart of gold. Any suggestions / clubs, groups would be most appreciated.

Worth checking whether adult education centres might have eg a photography group or similar. Most adult education places have some courses/groups for sn.

Each county should have a carers advice contact that might signpost you to local groups.

Mencap might have some social groups/clubs, there could be various abilities there but he could maybe contribute to running it if more able. Worth checking a few locations near you.

You could ask at a day centre or check adverts at a local college - our local sn charity (down south) advertises their activities via open days at local colleges for less able students who will be leaving courses.

Another thought, search the local council website or even write to them (culture/education) and ask. I recall once seeing a list of various local groups and charities for young adults with sn on our council website.

I also knew of a photography group at an adult education centre and they were doing little projects eg find and photograph things begin with a particular letter of the alphabet.
