I don't know what your budget is, but this Smart toilet seat is pretty cool!

My understanding is that it's when you get paid that counts, not when you did the work. But you'd need to declare the earnings at https://www.gov.uk/carers-allowance-report-change then they would calculate any overpayment and send you an overpayment notice. When you receive that, you'd pay back anything you've been overpaid.

@Lougle yes thats the type I’m looking at but I didn’t realise you could just buy the seat. It will still need electrics and a warm water feed (I think)

I think I’m going to cancel careers allowance and reapply when and if I stop working. It feels right.

It’s a wonder I got offered work with my im and ive typing… you would easily identify me if I sent a typed ransom note.

@TheGoodCat rather than just cancel the claim, I would call and discuss it because the claim may be able to stay open just with you not being paid all the time.

@Lougle I think your worries are quite understandable. Care work is a hard job for a teen. I imagine even for an NT teen it would be a shock and steep learning curve. If DD3 doesn’t get on with the job but likes the idea of care work, she could look at a PA role that she could apply for in a more targeted way rather than a carer via a care agency.

@Wellzizizbetter independent showering is a fantastic step! Do you think he can build on it and repeat it?

@TheGoodCat yes, you'd need the electrics, but it's cold water fed because it heats the water.

@thegoodcat if you want to try something without needing electrical work, you can get manual bidet toilet seats that are non-electric.

@TheGoodCat we have exactly that seat and you need cold water only (easy plumb in) but electricity as well it usually comes out behind the loo base under the cistern so if you have cavity walls or boxed in pipes the will only need the tiles off behind the bottom of the loo which is very hidden. You want to be able to lift the whole thing off for cleaning. It’s brilliant. So much so that when it broke (seizure not fault) we replaced it the next week. We bought it for ds but truthfully I would say it’s brilliant for periods and just generally feeling clean. I wish we had more than one as it makes one bathroom much more busy. It’s like the air conditioning. You don’t know how great it is till you have it.

@Lougle a job? Oh fabulous! You and your driving working qualification holding girls are just brilliant. You did that Lougle. While everyone around you failed to step up, you did. I feel like we need a golden goose egg award for achievement.

I've got the business insurance sorted. A bit of a faff because at first I was told it wasn't possible because the rules say that only the 'main household financial contributor' can have business insurance. I pointed out that it was a bit daft, because it's DD3's car and it's not her fault that she lives with someone who earns more. So she said to phone back later when the business department was open. They agreed that it was daft and that DD3 could have business insurance.

DD2 still isn't feeling well. The blood results are showing a generally inflamed picture - CRP is up, ESR is up, a few bits and bobs are low. Frustratingly the doctor has commented 'keep follow up appointment' but we don't have a follow up appointment.

I took DD2's evidence into the Jobcentre today, but it turns out that as her appointee it was my evidence they needed. The lady was lovely though, and she managed to get through it without my ID. She's been put in the 'no conditionality group' which is good.

I want a smart toilet seat now!

@Lougle I’m glad you managed to sort UC and the business insurance. Frustrating that you now need to get an appointment.

We're at A&E. DD2 is feeling worse and the GP wasn't comfortable to wait until Tuesday for repeat bloods.

Hope A&E isn't too long @Lougle and you avoid the Friday night A&E drinkers.

Just cleaned out the small room which we will make into a laundry as well as kitchen and entrance and a quick bit in garden.

Oh @Lougle how exhausting. I hope you have snacks and water and somewhere to sit.

I hope you don’t have a long wait; and that it’s nothing serious? Anyway, it’s good your GP is being cautious; and not dismissing it.

It looked to me on Location Location Location, that a Japanese toilet is the bees knees of the toilet world!

Thank you all. A&E has a Consultant on triage tonight. He was quite frustrated that the GP didn't refer to the surgeons directly. He did so in triage to cut our wait time, but it's still likely we'll be here until midnight before we're seen, according to the board. I presume that if her CRP and ALT are stable or reduced, we'll be sent home. If they're worse, I expect they'll keep her.

Fingers crossed DD2 is either better or you have a plan very soon. I only saw the first line of your post on preview and thought it would be your DD1. You (one) just can't get a break...

We're home. Bloods, I think, have improved but it was hard to get any answers from the doctors we saw. It's definitely August! They were going to give her some stronger pain relief but then mumbled that if she couldn't take omeprazole they would just ask the GP to sort it. I pointed out that the GP isn't back until Tuesday and they just scurried off, never to be seen again.

Good bloods are improving @Lougle but sorry they escaped without extra pain relief.

Starting to paint the small, will be laundry room, DH is doing it and DS is not impressed and there has been some heavy shutting of doors. But it will be much better for DS when its done. Luckily its a small room so should not take too long to paint. We then need to remove lino floor and put down tiles.

@Lougle oh no guaranteed to be a medical need over a bank holiday weekend. Honestly so many times it’s happened. Hope DD2 is doing ok.

we got soaked walking and were really laughing. Sat on so many soggy benches.

A pp asked if DGD is smiling - yes, she started a few months ago, but she is the only one in their house! Still constant strife between DD2 and ex, with ex on the phone to me for 50 minutes on Thursday night, and again last night! At one point, he was never going to speak to her again and asked for his ring back; but then backtracked after asking us to have their cat! (A never ending source of toxoplasmosis and toxocara, according to DD2). We don’t want their cat, because our two are 10 years old, and imo are too set in their ways for another cat.I don’t feel like months of cats’ hissing and aggression, in between looking after DD1 and DH!

That sounds really difficult @LathkillDale . I hope you get moments of peace.

I'm waiting for a doctor to call. DD2 is feeling quite unwell.
