I am applying for a job working with disabled children and young adults. I have a son on the autistic spectrum so have some idea of what's involved, but still stumped by the application form!

Soooo, please could you fill in the blanks here?

EMPLOYER...."seeks to enrich the lives of disabled children and young people. How do you feel you could add benefit to their care, helping them to lead more fulfilled and happy lives?"

What would YOU as the family be looking for?

Is the job with a family?

I guess helping the children and young adults have a good quality of life, encouraging independent choice and socialising as far as is appropriate to the individual? Maybe also discussion of awareness of language/communication difficulties and your experience with dealing with children with these?

Thankyou so much!

Yes, will be working with families, but through an organisation that recruits and trains support staff.

My ds is still quite young, so hadn't thought so much about the independence aspect.

I'm feeling really positive about this now after reading your responses, I know I can do this, just so out of practice with the job world. Thankyou for putting into words what was going on in my head!
