Grrrrrrr teachers

Hey,
i am soooo cross i just need to vent it!!
Ds with Dyspraxia has been upset and crying in class today.The teacher was asking him to re-write work in joined up and then took his writing slant off him.She said he did not need it! The IEP states we accept his best effort and not to expect him to do joined up writing.

Consequently now he does not want to go back to school.His bit of self esteem and confidence has just taken a real bashing.

Some teachers can be so damaging for kids with special needs. I am really cross.

They have 2 teachers one does 3 days the other 2 days.We have nick named them "DUMB and DUMBER".

I know also there are some fab on the ball teachers too!!

Make an appointment with the teacher. Take a note pad in with you.

On this note pad, have a list of questions ready.

"Ds's IEP states that we accept his best effort and that we do not expect him to joined up writing. Why did you not accept his best effort and why did you expect him to do joined up writing?"

"Why have you removed his specialist equipment from his use?"

"What are you going to do to rebuild his confidence in your ability to work at the level his needs require?"

Write down her answers and if they aren't satisfactory, make an appointment to see the head. Do the same.

Get so cross i can't think what to do for the best.It's great to get advice from others.

I personally would ask the teacher if she was aware of ds's needs and what has been written on His IEP.. Or was it that she enjoyed emotionally abusing small children with SEN.
I would say this in a meeting with the teacher and the head.
I would also then tell her I have made a formal compliant against her personally.

Teachers like this don't deserve to teach.. And I make no bones about it.. There is no excuse.

I'm really cross for your ds.

Tell your ds ( if he's old enough).. You have spoken to someone who's teacher ( mrs P.. I'll never forget you for the wrong reasons).. Told her she was rubbish because her writing was bad. ( what she told me was I wasn't worth her time as I was thick and useless, and I'd be lucky to get a job let alone go to college).
But you know what, she was wrong and It took a bit of work but I did better than she ever did.

( I got a first in my degree lol)

WOW, good on you for getting your degree.You definatly showed them.
I can't believe such cruel and unprofessional words cud come from somebody who you were supposed to trust your education to. It's disgusting. But you did gud girl!!

It's been a battle all year with these teachers. They have no interest, i don't think they really want to be teaching.The IEP is not worth the paper it written cause they have not read it let alone follow it,

My friend has a boy with ADHD in same class.He always wants to fiddle with things.Instead of giving him something he can fiddle with, they keep sending him to heads office and punishing him.It's so pre-historic and damaging for children.
