OMG !
i had too.
Ive never even met her , shes a replacement for my old one who left the job
i took dd4 to gps last week , she wasnt eating and i wanted her refered back to her dietition , for help with that.
Gp who is also new to the practice , wanted A report on dd4 from the HV first.
HV phoned and we arranged for her to visit at 11:30 am on friday.
We do the nursey run at 11 and are usually home well before then so ....
Get home on friday at 11:15 Hv has been out and left a card whichh said "you missed the appointment , phone me , dated and -timed- 11:30.
SO i phoned her office and left message asking why she came early and why she left a card saying she wasa there at 11:30 when she had been at least 10 mins early?
stayed in until 12 then left to go visit dd1 who was in hospital with a suspected blood clot on her lung ,(shes also 15 weeks pg btw).
HV phoned back my house and left a message on machine saying " hi its xxx just got your messamyge , ill pop back if you can phone me and tell me its ok? " I didnt get the message until after i did the school run. when i returned home i found another card saying " you have missed the appointment " and timed 1 :45 pm. wtf???? i hadnt missed the first one never mind a second i didnt know about.!. Yesterday i recieved a letter from the GP about my "failure to engage withe the HV" , and that he wont move dd4s case forward without the HVS report !
SO my dd4 wont be refered to her dietition again because of this , and my best mate (who is a cbt therapist/former nurse) has told me that ther must have been comments put on dd4s records/medical notes for the letter to be sent. "Failure to engage with HV" - looks like ive blocked dd4s treatment . Well ill be damned if im putting up with that!
ive sent a letter of formal complaint to the practice manager ,requesting a full written appology from the hv and extra copies be included in dd4s and my own notes. And also that i have another HV. i can prove i phoned HVS office at 11:20 ...I CHECKED WITH MY LANDLINE PROVIDER ,IT WILL BE ON MY NEXT BILL.

Rant over .
sorry
just needed to tell someone.

Wow some people are such pains!
You did the right thing, she'll have some explaining to do given you have proof too.
Not sure what else to say really, seems you've done all you needed. Will be interesting to see what you get in reply though.

i was just annoyed that it would be marked on dd4`s notes ... "failure to engage" ...how many consultants ,peadis ,would see it?
everyone who is in a position of medical care for dd4 . And we do see a lot of doctors.
So at least this way there will be another side to the "failure to engage" on dd4s notes.
Just keeping ourselves right really.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE !

IVE GOT A WRITTEN APPOLOGY !

Today i recieved a letter of appology , along with a letter from the head of nursing for our area .
It was about the investigation into my complaint. The investigation led to the HV admitting she came early and wrote a later time on the note. She also admitted the phone call and the second un- authorised visit. And that her conversation with the doctor was infact misleading.
The doctor involved has been told of the complain and result and is now aware of the situation ,and is forwarding his intention of being "fully supportive to dd4 and her case".
The Health Visitor has appologised for the distress she has caused , and understands why she has been removed as HV for our family.
I have a new HV (Who is fab btw).

Id call that a result !

Good for you. So unprofessional of her.

mancshell · 01/02/2011 10:03

i did the same to my hv, she was heartless, i had just had a c-section and come out of hospital and was feeling a little down with the baby blues, and all she did was moan about my other children, because i let my 6 yr old have dummy for bed, she has adhd,
i hated her,
she wasnt kean on my youngest son, because he made a comment about knickers, he as special needs but not sure what yet, so he has a tendancy to wind people up to get attention, i think it may be adhd or autism,
hes still being assessed.
she reported my son to s-services for this comment, and when they visited me, they told me not to let him sleep upstairs near his sister, in fact have him in the lounge, i was shocked this, going on like his a perv
