Well that's just bad Have they not offered to fix the problem or change the chair for one more suited to an active user?

My friend H has been refused a new one by her wheelchair services, apparently the one she has is fine for her, even though she needs help on anything but level ground, can't lift it herself (she needs to be able to, with hopefully starting to drive in September) and the brakes constantly failing.

Again, for effect

No offense to anyone if their service is actually good, but going by what H tells me, ours isn't. And lots of people on here have problems with theirs too.

RTB that really is bad Has he got anti-tip wheels on the back? Might be worth seeing if they can be fitted. And oooh basketball eh? My mate says it's jolly good fun and she reckons I'd love it! The fact I don't use a chair and can walk fine seems to have evaded her but she says "Oooh LV if you had a go you'd love it, it's great!" so hope he enjoys it

Actually, anyone know where I can source spoke covers from? H would love some patterned ones but we can't find them in the UK. Or what about clear perspex ones so we can paint a design on ourselves?

lolli have you asked the local wheelchair service, they should be able to tell you a stockist.

LollipopViolet · 01/07/2010 21:54

2shoes, not yet, will mention it next time I see my friend! I've seen some great designs about but have no idea where people get them!

glittery · 01/07/2010 23:21

Lollipop this is a UK stockist with clear covers and some very cool designs. you could also try here on ebay

roundthebend4 · 02/07/2010 12:22

Lolli no anti tip bats but it's nit backwards it tips it's forwards and sidewards this is apparnetly because ds is active in the chair and trys to move himself which I thought was whole idea of it

oh and the basketball get your butt on a chair my dear and try it half the senior team are not chair users play in them for matches only

Ha! Our service will only provide them if the kid is likely to put their hands in the spokes; so if in doubt LIE and say they will! We only got them this time because I asked them to switch the ones from the old chair. They're just plain grey but now sport many stickers[ guess we'll be in trouble for that.
