The LA have had my dd2's intial request for IPF,which the CDC helped me to complete.
Have received a letter back today saying she needs a statutory assessment of SEN.
Sorry to sound dim,but I am confused as to what this means, the head techer of the CDC is not in today,so cannot ask her for advice, and I am getting myself into abit of a state over it.
Can anyone help?????

oooooh that is GOOD!!

It means that the LA feel that she needs a comprehensive review and investigation of her special educational needs, then will decide whether to issue a statement.

This is good news for your DD as she now has a good chance of getting her additional support needs met at school.

Have the LEA actually agreed to do a Statutory Assessment?. If so that process now begins; it will take around 6 months to get the Statement set up and running.

It means you have jumped 3 hurdles at once, is what it means. Don't get into a state. Honestly, do you know how long it takes some of us to get where you are. Full credit to your CDC. There is NO WAY mine would stick their neck out so far as to help me complete forms that would indicate to the LA what kinds of support/help/investigation is needed.

Still contact them, for an explanation, but know too, that you have been spared a few months of stress.

Sorry missed the other 2 replies.
Thanks to Attila & Star,I know how difficult it is this statementing business & cannot praise the headteacher of the CDC enough, she has helped us so much to get where we are now.
I just hope we can get dd2 the help she needs.
