Right everyone, I need your advice and help, again! As you know, my friend H has lots of problems with her current manual wheelchair. She wants to learn to drive but would not be able to physically lift the chair into a car boot if she was on her own. The brakes are also constantly breaking which makes it dangerous. And, from my point of view as one of the main people pushing it (next in line to her mum), it's hard work. To even get up a slight gradient, she needs my help.
So, she's going down the charity route atm, but if she gets knocked back, we've decided we're going to fundraise. Her local wheelchair services say her current chair is the lightest they do and if they were to replace it, it would be with a new chair of the same model.
So, what can we do, either together or individually, to raise money? I'm a keen ice skater and was thinking of seeing if there's a rink that will let me do a sponsored skate of either a marathon or half marathon distance, but obviously that might not be possible so I need some more ideas!
