DS1 jhad hjis year 5 review recently. We qasked for a specilaist AS placement adn school asked for an extra 6 hours a week for year 6.

hours have just been confirmed but no mention of AS palcement.

Would that be sent at a later date or is it an error that needs chasing?

SOunds like they are ignoring that particular request to be honest. Sorry!

Decision not being amde until November they say; however decision on who gets in (they all go to panel at once) based on:

  1. School reports- we're OK on that
  1. SNU decisions- SNU have said they would like ds1 and although I don't really know the teacher she is on my course so has regualrly listened to me whinge (!!!)
  1. Ed Psych assessment. Ah. Ours is the only area without an Ed Psych within the catchment.

Any idea how we find an ed psych to do an assessment privately at vaguely affordable (ie within a month or so's DLA) rates?

(school up to 30 times over subscribed, oh shite)

How does all this fit in with a statement?

When did you hope he would be starting at the unit? September?

The whole thing sounds very fishy to me tbh.

sancti - don't BIBIC have an ed psych attached? don't know what rates are.obv, or whether he is subsidised rate or normal rate.

BUt we were looking into setting up ed psych there last year, as part of statementing.

the panel stuffall sounds normal to me -they are usually held nov/dec before entry year.

there are further panel meets, and you can also ask for extra panel meet (but whether they go ahead is another thing!), ut obv all dependent on place still being at the SNU.
you can also ask for other papers to be considered at panel, so any other reports etc (don't know if you've got any, or could get any - anything official should be ok)

they cannot just decide on blanket policy, so if no ed psych, they should accept other contributing info where possible

sep 2001 star

The village comp is the factor imo; new ehad coming so who knows but murmurs about beocming asd school- except atm they are so way off its incredible (famillies being taken to court forr being persistently late etc, kids with dx here not random)

comp is also way over subscribed which might help- it might be easier for them to allocate ds1 AS unit then give another catchment kid this space than face appeals unlimited IYKWIM: I know of 2 or 3 parents in ds2's year (2012 entry) already on the case so 2011 lot must be way ahead!
