hereWe are namechecked and it's clear that the implications of the Academies bill for SN children are raising concerns all over the place. In haste, got to go, but just thought I'd link to it so people can see.

so this is different to the academies we have now. Bit confused. Loads of the sn schools round here (lea) are academies of sport or arts or whatever

Thanks for flagging it up niminy.

Herjazz, yes, at the moment it is not clear precisely what form the new Academies will take but this is a good piece by barrister David Wolfe on Fiona Millar's site

They were discussing this in the house of Lords on the Parliament channel today. The main issue seems to be a discussion on the consultation of parents et al versus the amount of legal points IE in being too legislative versus the short period of time that the Gov want to to push this through.
The main body of thinking seems to be that guidelines over who should be consulted may be drawn up including parents.

"to include parents"

Fiona Millar's site says that because of the number of amendments tabled it can't now go through in this Parliamentary session unless they deem it emergency legislation - so more time to try and get them to nail down the detail
