Ds has a place at a speech unit from September and do think it will be fantasic from that point of view , but now having second thoughts becuase they said it will be very hard to do a daily ot program due to not enough staff. And since ds cant hold a pen properly or use normal scissors is a big issues

Dont think they really realise just how much ds other diffculties going to be .Think part of that is lack of information but when i called them and talked tried talking about it said dont worry be fine .

Dont think they realise erm ds wheelchair be going into school for a reason because he will need it in the day , ds cant cut up food though this one they feel can mange a slunch is eaten in the unit supervised .

But its things like toilet , you need to remind ds to go and he needs help with pulling trousers down and wiping his bottom .

School trips ds will need ravel in his wheelchair as he cant get himself up stairs unaided or onto a seat.

Not really the mld school won't take as his needs are to severe in terms if Ot and pd it and speech add in his cognitve with signing is near normal

Though do have one place in mind if after while becomes clearer that ds does not progress with speech and needs acc

Lol just bad attack of nerves I think and aware school not been filled in fully about ds

If you don't think school are fully aware of his difficulties, you could send them further information yourself? Either additional reports or a summary of his needs from your own point of view.

I wrote loads in my parental advice for statementing - it's been the most valuable bit of our statement in informing potential schools what DS' needs are. The professional reports are more concise but often left out information which showed what he was like on a day-to-day basis.

If they don't have enough staff then it is up to them to argue the toss with the LA to ensure they are able to provide the provision they are legal bound to through the statement.
